NARRATIVE PARAGRAPH

It was in my last holiday from July to August when I decided to travel with

my parents to Caraz, Ancash. It was an opportunity to visit the "Punta

Olímpica" to enjoy the scenery, so my parents and my uncles had it all

planned. One day before departing, my parents and my mother's relatives

were talking about everything we would need for the trip, but my uncle

would leave his daughter in charge of the internet booths they had at home.

After a while, I decided to accompany my cousin and help manage the

internet booths. As the hours passed, I was talking to my cousin when

suddenly we blinked and we realized that it was 4 am and nobody was in

the room, so we had to cover all the expenses. Then, we slept for one hour

because the car was going to come early to go to "Punta Olímpica". Finally,

when we all arrived, we appreciated the beautiful landscape and enjoyed

the great view of the mountains, such as the Huascaran. It was an

unforgettable experience.
CASE STUDY SUMMARY

In the article "Developing Effective Mission and Vision Statements," Jay

Ebben (2005) states that the mission and vision can become very useful

tools, provided they are used correctly. The author mentioned that the

benefits would be small for new companies. In this way, it makes it clear

that these companies should focus on the vision, which is what the founder

of the company expects the business to be. Furthermore, the mission

statement should be a statement of the strategy that the company will use,

which must be related to the vision and perspective of the customer.

However, in order to achieve an effective mission statement, it is necessary

that companies respond to three questions regarding what, how and for

whom are their operations. Therefore, this process will allow the company

to carry out activities that generate benefits and avoid those who generate

losses.

DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH

The garden in my aunt's house is my favorite childhood place. It is a very

large garden surrounded by fences and filled with several garden gnomes.

In the center of the garden, there is a colorful homemade ornamental

fountain, and around it are different types of plants. In the corner, there is a

“pacay” tree which I used to climb and pick the fruit. In addition, the dogs

and cats of my grandmother used to walk in the garden which made a warm

and comfortable place to spend time. In fact, most of the day I would lie on

the grass playing with animals, and sometimes I would climb to the top of

the tree and pretend I was a monkey. That particular garden marked my life

and I would definitely like to spend time there again.

PROCESS PARAGRAPH:

The success that the Great North Eastern Railway Company achieved was

due to the excellent use of a marketing strategy. To achieve this success,

the railway operating company had to follow a series of steps. First of all,

the company had to restore its mission statement to focus on the customer,

so they could meet their needs. After that, they had to differentiate

themselves from their competitors and in order to achieve this, they had to

establish a clear vision statement. Then, it was important to offer services

that were adapted to what the customer wanted so their services could be

related to their vision. Finally, the last step that GNER used was the

process of recruiting and training their workers so that they met customer

needs. All in all, the Great North Eastern Railway Company followed these

steps of their marketing strategy to achieve success.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST PARAGRAPH

 POINT BY POINT

Both Mr. Terence Smith and Ms. Karen Armstrong are qualified applicants

for the job; however, human resources should take the differences between

the candidates into account. The first significant difference is the personal

profile. Terence has an enthusiastic attitude and has extensive knowledge,

whereas Karen is a motivated and ambitious person who plays an important

role in making financial decisions, a skill not many people have. The

second considerable disparity between these applicants is the areas of

expertise. Mr. Terence has a good performance in the areas of private

equity, pension funds and in product portfolio monitoring. Ms. Teresa, on

the other hand, has remarkable experience in statistical analysis, validation

of data and business analysis. The last differences are the skills and

competencies. Mr. Terence is able to work under pressure and is very

skilled with the disciplines of investment and data flow. In contrast, Ms.

Karen is proactive, reliable and above all else, she possesses a leadership

skill which allows her to be in charge of accounting projects. Thus, as the

above points illustrate, there are three differences between the two job

applicants that may influence the hiring process.
