About The different Between Malware and How to Prevent Them
Introduction

In the Modern generation, computer plays a big role in the lives of students, teachers and
officers. Computer helps us to do the paper works, assignments, projects and computing grades.
We know that computers are not perfect, they have problems too; one of this is malwares that
destroys the computer’s software.

Malware or “Malicious software,” is an umbrella term that describes any malicious

program or code that is harmful to systems.

Furthermore, malwares have different types like viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware,
and adware. The effects of malware range from brief annoyance to computer crashes and identify
theft. Malware is easier to avoid than it is to remove.

According to Vipre (2018) a worm virus is a malicious, self-replicating program that can
spread throughout a network without human assistance

Background of the Study

The purpose of the study is to assess the students knowledge about the different malwares
in computer and how to prevent them. This study is beneficial to the Students, Internet Users,
Parents, and Even Teachers.

Knowing this different malwares can be a help in preventing it from our computer,
According to Brian (2014) there are 5 ways to prevent malwares first, install anti virus/malware
software, second, keep your antivirus up to date, third, run regularly scheduled scans to prevent
malware from entering the software, Fourth, Keep your personal Information safe, Lastly, think
before you Click.

Statement of the Problem

The purpose of the study is to assess the knowledge of students about the different
malwares in computer and how to prevent them.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following:

1.) What are the level of awareness of the respondents about:

A.) Malware types, and

B.) Malware acquisition?

2.) How Knowledgeable the respondents are in terms of:

A.) Dangers of Malwares, and

B.) Preventive Measures

3.) Why students must prevent these malwares?

Theoretical Framework

A computer virus, much like a flu virus, is designed to spread from host to host and has
the ability to replicate itself. Similarly in the same way that flu viruses cannot reproduce without
a host cell, computer viruses cannot reproduce and spread without programming such as a file or
document (Norton 2017).

Spywares are malicious programs with automatic installing features, Spywares are used
for hacking the personal information of the targets to use for blackmailing, stealing bank
accounts and stealing social media accounts secretly Granger (2018)

Delimitation of the Study

The study is focused on assessing the knowledge of Grade 10 ICT Students of Sta. Ana
National High School about the different malwares in computer and how to prevent them.
Researchers used a survey questionnaires as the data gathering method to know the awareness of
the students about the different malwares and how to prevent them.

This study is delimited only to the Grade 10 students in the Information Communication
Technology at Sta. Ana National High School.

Respondents, the researcher picked 20 Grade 10 Information Communication

Technology students of Sta. Ana National High School to answers the questionnaires, the
sampling method that used by the researchers is non-probability purposive sampling method.

Limitation of the Study

Computers limit student’s imaginations….

Students May have less opportunity to use oral skills and hand writing.

Use of ICT may be difficult for weaker students, because they may have problems with
working independently and may need more support from the teacher.

Definition of Terms

ICT – Stands for Information and Communication Technology refers to technologies that
provide access to information through telecommunications
Modern Information and Communication Technologies – is created a “global village”
in which people can communicate with others across the world as if they were living next door.

Significance of the Study

For the Researcher- this study may serve as a guide for the Assessing The Knowledge
of the Grade 10 ICT Students of Sta. Ana National High School

For the Teachers- This study provided data or more developed strategy that they could
use in giving proper guidance to the learners on how to use Computers

For the Learners- Most of students do not have any sufficient knowledge about these
kinds of malwares and how to prevent. This study is helpful for them to have a
background knowledge about the different malwares in computer and to prevent them.

For the Future Researcher- this study can be used by the future researchers as basis for
their future researches and studies

Assumption/Hypothesis

The information communication technology has a profound impact on the student to

access the information the ICT can either or decreasing the degree of information among the
students. There are certain technical complication in defining and measuring the role of ICT in a
specific way.
