Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading killers
of our times, and coronary artery disease (CAD) is
the most important contributor to this epidemic.
CAD is considered to be a lifestyle disease since the
factors responsible for the development of CAD are
largely related to the faulty lifestyle of the individual.
Since most yogic practices involve a disciplining

habits, and abstinence from smoking, it is expected
that the performance of some or the other of these
yogic practices would result in a change to a healthy
lifestyle in general with reduced risk of development
