INTRODUCTION
In the new Education system implemented by the Department of Education, Work

Immersion is one the required subject for Grade12 students. The students are expected to be

exposed to the work-related experiences based on their respective skills. The graduating students

are expected to complete 8—120 hours depending on what strand they are. The immersion will

be given an opportunity to experience what they will do in the future.

Student’s skill be honed and enhanced as he/she will be well-experienced in their skills

through the immersion that will be given. As they converse with these different types of people,

they begin to familiarize themselves with the duties and responsibilities of a good employee.

7
Objectives of work
immersion
• For the student to appreciate the importance of the knowledge taught in school and apply it in
the workplace

• To enhance the student’s knowledge and skills related to his/her chosen field that he/she may
be able to utilize them in the future

COLEGIO DE STA. TERESA DE AVILA. The College began only academic year 2007-
2008. The founding of the college was the response to the immediate need of the students in the
nearby community. A Ladderized Education was fashioned to meet its needs.
Ladderized Education involves granting due to recognition of credits from a Technical
Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program to a regular College Degree Program
(Syjuco 2006).
The BSHRM is a concrete example of CSTA, where seven TVET courses were
embedded starting from the first year level to the fourth year level. After finishing first year, the
students should have been assessed of their competency level in two embedded courses, namely:
Housekeeping and Front Office Services. The Technical Education and Skills Development
Authority (TESDA) administer the assessment so as to qualify for a National Certificate Level II
(NC II). Passing this assessment signifies the readiness the students to move on the next level of
TESDA qualification. This is done until they finish their fourth year level.
In barely 3 years of existence CSTA was able to strike a partnership program with Spratt Shaw
Community College (SSCC) Canada. The graduating students of 2010 – 2011 will receive two
diplomas, that from CSTA and another from Spratt Shaw Community College. The diploma
from the SSCC is a qualification that facilitates a better opportunity to work in Canada another
very important objective of CSTA is to improve the quality of instruction through qualified
faculty members. This was realized by inviting one of the well – known universities to extend
their masters degree program to the institution.

10
CSTA therefore commits itself to the attainment of a true education geared towards the

formation of the human person in the pursuit of his ultimate end of the society of which, as man,

he is a member, and in whose obligation as an adult, he will share.

Specifically, CSTA fosters the development of the student’s potentials in order to meet the

challenges of life:

1. Physically, so that he may be aware of his particular bodily capabilities and strengthen

them for the service to country and fellowmen;

2. Morally and socially, so that he may acquire strength in character and develop a well

rounded personality which will enable him to fulfill his responsibilities and commitments as a

member of a free, democratic, and humane society;

3. Intellectually, so that he may seek the necessary knowledge and skills will enable him to

achieve only the best;4. Spiritually, that he may unreservedly render service to god and His

people

Reflection:
Problems encountered
As we got inside the institution, we were amazed by their facilities. It looks like they got

everything in there-the clinics, kitchen for cooking, labs, and many more. It looks like they had

everything you had. We’re very thankful that we were assigned in CSTA because of their

warm welcome to us. We were also invited to watch their event inside the campus. But if

there's going to be a problem, it’s the time when we were tasked to decorate the office of the

NTFS and the Dean’s office. We are not inclined in designing rooms and not art-inclined.

There was also an instance where we repeat the same file because the need another copy of it

but from the different department.

SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

In my observation for the whole working days we’ve been into, there must be a solutions

in every problem. In the office, I recommend that they have all have copied the same master

lists so that they don’t need to retype it again. By doing it, their works will be faster and better.

In this day, we had a lecture about the process in
reformatting a hard disk drive; we performed in
one by one. We were also joined with other
sections which are STEM and Animation.

In this picture, we had a lecture about the CMD

line and how to use in. We also created a file
using the command prompt.

22
We tackled about the RJ45s and performed the
connecting of it to the wire and testing it. Sir
Mac, our substitute supervisor taught us the
function of it.

This day, we were moved to the NTFS office to

help other faculty with their paper works. We
were given a master list of all students of CSTA
and our task was to arrange them by courses and
check if they have taken the medical test.

Sorting names wasn’t easy so it took us 2 days

to finish the whole lists, after that we printed it
and gave it to the clinic.
