Title: Can I Make the World Better?

Introduction

Walk down the city streets, in the kampung, along the beach, in the forest, in fact anywhere
in this country and you will inevitably see it – plastic garbage. This is the most common
litter in our country and it is not only drowning our nation but the entire planet as well.

Have you ever thought about how much garbage you produce everyday?

According to Environmental Protection Agency “The average person generates over

4 pounds of trash every day and about 1.5 tons of solid waste each day”.

Malaysians use three billion plastic bags per year. According to a study by Jambeck et al
(published in the Science journal, February 2015), Malaysia is the eighth biggest producer
of mismanaged plastic waste (waste that is not appropriately disposed of or recycled) out
of 192 coastal countries in the world.

The importance

But why should we recycle? What are we going to have if we do it?

Recycling, this is a simple old concept, but most people do not seem to have acquired this
concept.

Do u know, if we did not managed our trash well, small portions of trash tossed into the
street are regularly washed into storm drains when it rains. These then flow into rivers and
other waterways and finally into the sea, leading to microplastic pollution that is damaging
to marine life. So, instead of eating healthy seafood, we are literally consuming
microplastic-polluted ones.

Recycling isn’t just making something new out of something that has been already used.
There is a lot more to the term than just that.

Recycling is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which
we live. Recycling is important to both the natural environment and us. We must act fast
as the amount of waste we create is increasing all the time.
Action Required

Recycling is surely a great way to reduce pollution, but people need to know that it is a
cure and not a prevention.

There are going to be consequences if we don't recycle and don’t care about the
environment that we are living on. We can apply these steps from ourself

One person can make a difference just recycling and taking care of the environment.

1. what we need to do on an individual basis to avoid the creation of waste in the first
place first is to say NO
many things in life we may think that we need it or feeling we can just take it as its
free example like plastic container when buy meals taking a straw when it is serve
with the drinks
but how will it be if we set our mind to reconsider “do I really need it?”
just says no thanks and it will make a huge difference

2. Second, Choose what you buy

Everyday we are paying money to get many things like food, services,
entertainment. What happen when we are buy those products? Actually we are
supporting those product to be sales again.
Since we decide to buy those product, but do we think there is a better choice?
Choose products which is environment friendly example product with less
packaging of plastic, biodegradable soap.

Conclusion

Recycling affects not only our personal community but also the entire planet

Recycling is not difficult for us and are you ready to recycle the waste materials and start
making a difference to save the earth? Let’s start today.
