DATA AND METHODOLOGY

The step wise methodology that was used is DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH DESIGN.
SAMPLE SIZE USED : 30
SOURCES OF DATA : Primary (Questionnaire and Interview Method)
Secondary(Newspapers, , Manual Report)
 A pilot survey was created before finalising the questionnaire
 Data collection was also with help of personal observation
 After completion of survey the data was analysed and conclusion drawn
 At the end all information was compiled to complete the project report.

SAMPLING :

Selecting the sample : Population that was taken as sample included randomly selection of
villagers and panchayat members
Sample Technique :Simple Random Sampling

Primary Research : Primary research was conducted through surveys via :

a. Interaction with the villagers


b. Focussed group discussion
c. Semi structured interview with the panchayat members.

Preparation and tabulation of data : After all the data is collected, it was entered
into Microsoft excel and was prepared for analysis.

Data Analysis : The data so collected was analysed in Microsoft excel with help of analysis
tools and our future coarse of action was decided
Finally the information thus obtained from the survey was used to meet the research
objectives.

Facts and Figures:


1. Total Wards -7
2. Total population -3528 (Male-1756, Female- 1772)
3. Number of people in following Age Bracket:
0-1 year – 51 1-5 year – 172 5-15 year – 334
4. Number of houses= 600(300 in ward 1-4 and 300 in
5-7)

6. People in ward 1-4 are mainly labour Class having
average income around 10-12k per
month and in ward 5-7, they are mainly service
class having an average income of
40k per month.

10. Out of 300 houses in ward 1-4, 200 houses do
not have toilets
11. There is very less Cattle farming in the village,
so they buy manure from agriculture
department.
12. There is no proper waste management system
at household level.
13. Sources of water- Wells and Spring (Ward 1-4)
and water tanks (Ward 5-7)
Findings:
1. There is no rain water Harvesting system in the
village.
2. Solar panels in only one house.
3. Waste Segregation is done by Gram panchayat for
dry waste only and there is no wet
waste management.
4. There is no collection of Fallen dry leaves from the
trees.

Our project was basically divided into 2 parts. In the


first phase, we started the project by visiting the
Panchayat office and collecting the basic demographic
details of the village. We interviewed few of the
villagers to get an overview of their lifestyle
In the second phase of our project, we planned to create
the awareness about the importance of sustainable
development amongst the students of Government
School Morlem. We planned to make January as the
“Sustainable Month” and organized various activities
such as video sessions, poster making competition and
skit performance by the students of the school

1.Visted panchayats and local bodies for a discussion to


understand the main pain point areas.
2. To conduct the assessment, focus groups sessions
were held with village people and panchayat body.

3.Observation of children and the current situation in


hand. Focus group discussions were held with the same
group with topics ranging from additional support,
rainwater harvesting .

4. Verified the questionnaire prepared for the students


by the headmistress. After that we went to visit the
spring but could not locate the spring(sanitation project
given by government)

4.Organised poster making competition among the


students of class 5th to 8th.

5.Made January sustainable month.

6.Quesstionnaire research method used to get the


students insight.

7.Conducted sessions with students.

8.Video presentations on topics like water conservation


and waste segregation.

10.Theatre play to educate the public.
