Unit Objectives
Lecture: Theoretical understanding
Tutorials: Hands-on skill in SPSS and other relevant software, practical
learning (activities)
Tutorials will be held in the computer lab and will focus on using SPSS
and other relevant software to complete analyses related to the
lecture topic for the week

How to study BSC302
• Lectures for theoretical content and tutorials
for practical SPSS activities
– Attend class and critically evaluate information
– Only slides with graphs/figures will be on LMS
– No computers, no phones during lecture
• 3 credit points = 150 hours (12 hours/w)

Lab Report (35%)
• 3000-word laboratory report (including title page,
abstract, text body, reference list)
• choose one of three data sets
• choose the appropriate statistical analysis to examine
a research question, run the analysis, and write the
report
• You can treat the data set as if you collected the
data. Alternatively, you can state that you are trying
to replicate the study.
Submitting the lab report
• Satisfy all the requirements (make sure you
have all the required sections)
