Grading rubrics for lab report

Title and abstract 3
Introduction 5
Methods and Results 24
Discussion 7
References 1
Lab Report (35%)
• 3000-word laboratory report (including title page,
abstract, text body, reference list)
• choose one of three data sets
• choose the appropriate statistical analysis to examine
a research question, run the analysis, and write the
report
• You can treat the data set as if you collected the
data. Alternatively, you can state that you are trying
to replicate the study.
Submitting the lab report
• Satisfy all the requirements (make sure you
have all the required sections)

• File title: Unit Code, the first three characters

of your last name, your first initial and your
Student Number. e.g. BSC302JSmi12345678
for student John Smith.
Research Participation (5%)
• All students will automatically receive an e-
mail with personalized login details. Once you
receive this e-mail, you can visit the portal
(https://murdochpes.sona-systems.com/) to
search for projects.
• Start looking early!
• Additional info/troubleshooting on LMS
Final Exam (40%)
• Part A
– Multiple choice questions
• Part B
– Short answer questions
• Question content
– Conceptual understanding (assumptions,
definition, strength & weakness)
– Procedural knowledge (results interpretation,
reporting)
SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences)
