An outcome is the result of a consequence of an issue.

A prediction is a guess you make based off of clues in text or pictures

Predicting an outcome is making a guess or giving a final decision based on summing up of main points
or clues.

Making predictions activates students' prior knowledge about the text and helps them
make connections between new information and what they already know. By making
predictions about the text before, during, and after reading, students use what they already
know—as well as what they suppose might happen—to make connections to the text.
Predictions help you develop mental models that you can use whenever you read.  Mental models
help you remember what you’ve read.  Predicting helps you pay attention to the sequence of events
in fiction.  By supporting your predictions with evidence from the text, you develop critical thinking
skills and improve comprehension.
