Early Readers Series CHILDREN
Marla Stewart Konrad
This delightful series brings an array of exceptional photos from around the world
to young children. Each book centers on a universal theme, familiar by its very
nature, yet new due to faraway settings and ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic
diversity. Each remarkable photo essay will foster discussion, observation, and many
smiles as children compare and contrast their own experience to that of others.

When Do We Eat?
Understanding World Hunger and Doing Something About It
For grades 1-3 /// 1520 /// Suggested donation: $20
“When do we eat?” This is a common question for almost every child. When we’re
hungry, we expect to have quick access to food. But in many parts of the world,
hunger is a constant companion. Children growing up in impoverished countries
get sick—and many even die—because they don’t have enough food.
When Do We Eat? teaches young people in grades 1-3 about the causes of world
hunger, helps them learn how they can make a difference for the world’s hungry,
and gives them an opportunity to respond.

SPONSORSHIP
When I looked into my newborn granddaughter’s eyes, I knew she was
among the truly blessed. She had the love of two committed parents,
the devotion of many family members, and a social and economic status
that would serve her well.
How could I show her I loved her and cared for her future? I would help
someone in need in her name. The result was our World Vision sponsored
child—another bright-eyed baby.

critically examine the issue of safe water and its effects on poverty, education,

As a major-gifts officer for World Vision, Cory Trenda has spent 28 years with one
foot firmly planted among the poorest of the poor and the other firmly planted
among the world’s richest. While going weeks without seeing a poor person in his
local daily life, Cory began writing about his struggles to live as a Christ-follower.
Reflections from Afar is an invitation for readers to see the world through the eyes
of the oppressed and the un-empowered, to enter into issues of poverty and

60 YEARS OF MINISTRY
Founded by Bob Pierce, World Vision set its course to “care for the
fatherless and widows, to help the poor and starving, to care for the
sick, and to seek to present the gospel of Jesus Christ.” When the
Korean War ended in 1953, World Vision began its child sponsorship
program to support orphans.
“The audacious faith of Bob Pierce has always characterized World
Vision, and it has changed the world for millions of children over the
past six decades,” said Richard Stearns, president of World Vision
U.S. “More than 3 million children are now assisted by sponsors
worldwide, and 100 million people receive help of one kind or
another—all because one man had the audacity to believe God and
because millions more just like
you were willing to join him.”

Bob Pierce, the founder of two of the world’s most notable Christian ministries, was
a man of intense spiritual passion and clear vision. This gripping biography, written
with heartfelt honesty by Pierce’s daughter, balances Bob’s tragic mistakes with
the great achievements God accomplished through him and his wife, Lorraine. It
shows how God’s grace and power can accomplish amazing things through less-
than-perfect human vessels.
