Root crop packaging lines

Weighing and packaging solution to pack consumer size portions (up to 2 kg) of washed root
vegetables such as carrots, parsnips, (small) red beets, etc in plastic bags. Beside these products also
potatoes, onions, citrus fruits, etc can be packed on the line.

line. With a slight line modification the JASA 250 can replace a VB40 or G45 in a classic Newtec
2000/VB40 or 2008/G45 carrot line.

Line description
Carrots come from the conveyor line on the rear vibrator of the Newtec weigher. After the weighing of
the porting, it is taken by the portion collecting system in to the JASA 250 packaging machine. From
there the packed portions can be transferred to any end packaging facility.
There are various weigher/bagger options possible. Depending on these combinations a specific PCS
needs to be chosen.
For slower solutions the carrots can be taken from the cross conveyor directly into the JASA. A special
infeed funnel and torsion buffer are needed. In high speed set-ups a Newtec collecting pan is used,
with or without a torsion buffer.

The torsion buffer is a mechanism in the filling tube that can be opened and closed during the
production process. It is either used as a synchronization moment in the line or as a catching (slow
down) system for fragile carrots (prevents breaking and damaging).

In high capacity lines like a Newtec 3015 with 2 x JASA 250 we advise to use a storage system in the
line. For instance a Mountec even flow is placed before the weigher to buffer the carrots.

Vertical form, fil and sealing machine model JASA 250

Vertical form, fill and seal machine with intermittent motion film transport to pack products in flexible
film bags. Execution of the machine is in stainless steel and high quality non-corrosive materials and
there for very suitable for the food industry.
The machine is equipped with an industrial PC operating system with display. Up to 50 programs can
be memorized and selected. Display texts are in the English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish
language (others on request).

Depending on the sealing system, the packaging machine can work with either Polyethylene,
Polypropylene, coextruded or laminated films.

according to the CE safety standards the machine is executed with:

• two protection doors with safety switch around the entire sealing area
• sealing jaw protection for not closing of the jaws with automatic machine stop
• protections for wire disconnection
• error message and machine stop when seal jaws are not fully heated
