2019 UCR Part 1 Crimes

Please note the increase in arson is mainly the result of


domestic and personal disputes with damage to personal
belongings and not structures such as homes or businesses.
Several suspects have been arrested and several cases have
suspects listed because of these close relationships. National
clearance rate for arson is 22.1%. For 2019, WPD is at 28%.
Crime Reduction from 2002 to 2019, -4,485 fewer crimes, -51.4%
During this time period, Wilmington’s population has increased ~ 52%
2019 Part I Crime Reduction was -1.1%
2019 Part I Crime was a new record low since 1993
These new record lows were set in 2019 going back to
1993 (27 years)
• Record low in Robbery at 124
• Record low in Burglary at 740
• Record low in Property Crimes at 3,537
• Record low in Part I Crimes at 4,243
