Course Description
This is a three-credit course of high-intermediate English for EFL (English as a Foreign
Language) students. This course covers the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, while
giving systematic attention to grammar and vocabulary. This course prepares the students to develop
both fluency and accuracy in English and provide maximum opportunities for personalized discussion that
should enhance linguistic and communication skills.
Course Objectives
At the end of this course students are expected to be able to:

Teaching-Learning Strategies
In order to reach the objectives, various teaching-learning strategies and techniques will be employed in this
course, such as:
1. Pair work
2. Individual work
3. Group work
4. Brainstorming
5. Demonstration (speaking, listening, reading, writing)
6. Role play (speaking, listening, reading, writing)
Class Requirements
1. Each Student must:
a. Be ready to perform devotional activities every class time (devotion and prayer schedule will run
according to seating arrangement).
b. Pay attention on the tentative schedule below. The tentative schedule will act as a guide on which and
what assignment to pass on particular date, which vocabulary to study, when and which chapter to be
tested, and when the final project should be passed.
c. Have his or her own Student’s Book and Workbook.
d. Have their own dictionary or Alfa-link (cell phones, smart phones, tablets, & pads cannot be used as
translator tools).
2. No make-up quizzes, tests, or projects due to BO absences or other discipline-related absences. Make-up
quizzes, tests, or projects are allowed only for sick or funerary absences. For sick absence, doctor’s letter of
recommendation is obliged.
3. No mobile phones are allowed during class time, except for emergency calls from parents or spouse (for those
who have married).
4. During tests students are not allowed to lend or borrow anything from their friends, to chat, or ask for excuses to
go out of the class.
Grading Criteria
91 – 100 = A 70 – 74 = C+
85 – 90 = A – 67 – 69 = C
82 – 84 = B + 60 – 66 = C –
78 – 81 = B 40 – 59 = D
75 – 77 = B – 0 – 39 = F
