Classroom Policies

COURSE GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS

ON ATTENDANCE:

1. Any student who misses a class due to minor illness or bodily discomfort shall present an excuse letter upon return
the following meeting. In the case of prolonged illness (say 2 days or more), the student must present a medical
certificate issued by the school physician along with an excuse letter. As such, the student will enjoy the benefit of
a special quiz. Any student who incurs absences without valid reasons will not be given the same benefit.
2. A student shall be marked TARDY if he does not report in class 10 minutes after the start of a 1-hour period, or 15
minutes after the start of a 90-minute period. If he fails to catch up for the remaining class time, the mark TARDY
will be converted to ABSENT.
3. If the subject instructor does not show up in the classroom after fifteen minutes during a 1-hour class, and; 30
minutes for a 1 ½ hour class, the students may take the liberty to leave the room and consume the time for a library
work. However, the class may choose to stay and talk about their Homeroom affairs under the leadership of the
Class Captain so long as they observe proper decorum.

ON CLASS STANDING

1. A total of 100 points shall be allotted for the semester for quizzes which will be limited to 10 items per quiz and will
be given anytime during the class.
2. Results of quizzes and tests are given to the class after the scores have been recorded. Issues and complaints on
the quiz results shall be entertained by the subject instructor only during the period.
3. A student who is tardy shall not be allowed entry if he arrives and the class is at the onset or in the middle of a quiz
to avoid disruption. However, he shall be allowed in after the checking of the test answers. Missed quizzes shall
be given on another day.
4. Assignments which consist of one or two pages are considered as if they are ‘tests’. Therefore, these are to be
recorded.

ON THE WEARING OF ID AND UNIFORM

All students are obliged to wear the prescribed uniform and ID daily. A student who does not wear his/her
uniform shall explain to the teacher orally or in writing his/her reason for doing such. Regardless of the reason, the
student shall receive a mark of ‘NU’ (Not in Uniform) on the Class card.

ON REQUIREMENTS/PROJECTS

1. A project or requirement shall be given two weeks before a Midterm or Final examinations and must be turned in

2. The subject instructor has the option to refuse overdue requirements and projects and to give deduction for such
delay against the allotted points, as in the case of rubrics scoring.

1. A student must take the seat assigned him by the subject instructor unless a compelling adverse physical condition
exists that requires special consideration , such as poor eyesight, hearing defect, etc.
2. Propriety shall be observed in the manner of dressing, speech, manners and overall bearing. Teacher Education
students must observe these strictly.
3. Students are encouraged to share their ideas to the class, participate in wholesome discussions while observing a
democratic and unfettered freedom of speech and of expression.
