today.

A. Roman Civilization
In historiography, ancient Rome is Roman civilization from the founding of the city of Rome in the 8th
century BC to the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century AD, encompassing the
Roman Kingdom, Roman Republic and Roman Empire until the fall of the western empire and
According to legend, Rome was founded in 753 BC by twin sons Romulus and Remus who were
raised by a she-wolf. During its twelve-century history, the Roman civilization shifted from a monarchy
to an oligarchic republic to a immense empire.

A reconstruction of the huge Circus Maximus in Rome. This was the greatest Roman entertainment
complex of all time, being able to seat 300,000 spectators.
The first parts of the Circus Maximus were built around 600 BC, being substantially enlarged by Julius
Caesar, who also added canals which could flood the theater floor upon which ships could be sailed to
re-enact sea battles. The Roman general Pompey the Great is said on one occasion (55 BC) to have
sponsored five days of circus games during which 500 lions and 20 elephants were killed. The Circus
Maximus, which was far larger than the famous Coliseum, did not survive. It was broken up and its
stone was used to build Christian churches after that religion came to dominate Europe

Ancient Greece was a civilization belonging to a period of Greek history from the Greek Dark Ages of
the 12th–9th centuries BC to the end of antiquity. Immediately following this period was the beginning
of the Early Middle Ages and the Byzantine era. As a peninsula, the people of Greece took advantage
of living by the sea. The mountains in Greece did not have fertile soil good for growing crops, like in
Mesopotamia, but the mild climate allowed for some farming. The Greeks, like many
other ancient civilizations, felt deeply connected to the land they lived.

Ancient Greek civilization, the period following Mycenaean civilization, which ended about 1200 bce,
to the death of Alexander the Great, in 323 bce. It was a period of political, philosophical, artistic, and
scientific achievements that formed a legacy with unparalleled influence on Western civilization.
The civilization of Ancient Greece emerged into the light of world history in the 8th century BC.
Normally it is regarded as coming to an end when Greece fell to the Romans, in 146 BC. However,
major Greek (or “Hellenistic”, as modern scholars call them) kingdoms lasted longer than this

The Greeks made many contributions to our culture. These included things such as architecture,
medicine, philosophy, mathematics, drama, and other areas. The Parthenon was built on the Acropolis
in Athens. It was dedicated to their pa
tron goddess, Athena, the goddess of wisdom.
The Greeks made important contributions to philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, and medicine.
Literature and theatre was an important aspect of Greek culture and influenced modern drama. Greek
culture influenced the Roman Empire and many other civilizations, and it continues to influence
modern cultures today

The Greek alphabet was born when the Greeks adapted the Phoenician writing system to represent
their own language by developing a fully phonetic writing system composed of individual signs
arranged in a linear fashion that could represent both consonants and vowels and he art of ancient
Greece is usually divided stylistically into four periods: the Geometric, Archaic, Classical, and
Hellenistic. The Geometric age is usually dated from about 1000 BC, although in reality little is known
about art in Greece during the preceding 200 years, traditionally known as the Greek Dark Ages.

C. Egyptian Civilization
Ancient Egypt was a civilization of ancient North Africa, concentrated along the lower reaches of the
Nile River in the place that is now the country Egypt. The success of ancient Egyptian civilization came
partly from its ability to adapt to the conditions of the Nile River valley for agriculture. There are

Nile delta, Western desert from the Nile west to the Libyan border, Eastern Desert extends from the
Nile Valley all the way to the Red Sea coast and Sinai Peninsula.

Egypt’s settlements arose along narrow strip ofland made fertile by the river, yearly flooding, but
predictable regular cycle: flood, plant, harvest, flood, plant, harvest. Intricate network of irrigation
ditches and worshiped as a god the giver of life and benevolent.

Egypt was a civilization of ancient North Africa, concentrated along the lower reaches of the Nile
River in the place that is now the country Egypt. Ancient Egyptian civilization followed prehistoric
Egypt and coalesced around 3100 BC (according to conventional Egyptian chronology. The history of
ancient Egypt occurred as a series of stable kingdoms, separated by periods of relative instability
known as Intermediate Periods: the Old Kingdom of the Early Bronze Age, the Middle Kingdom of
the Middle Bronze Age and the New Kingdom of the Late Bronze Age. Egyptian was spoken until the
late 17th century AD in the form of Coptic. The national language of modern-day Egypt is
Egyptian Arabic, which gradually replaced Coptic as the language of daily life in the centuries after the
Muslim conquest of Egypt. Coptic is still used as the liturgical language of the CopticChurch. Ancient
Egyptian art is the painting, sculpture, architecture and other arts produced by the civilization of
ancient Egypt in the lower Nile Valley from about 3000 BC to 30 AD. Ancient Egyptian art reached a
high level in painting and sculpture, and was both highly stylized and symbolic.

The farmers of Egypt’s Old Kingdom did not have to worry much about local rainfall, irrigated fields, or
poor soil. If the annual Nile River floods were too low, however, disaster could strike the kingdom

The Agricultural Revolution appeared relatively late in ancient Egypt. The lush environment of the Nile
River provided an abundant food supply of wild edible plants and seeds, fish, birds, and big game to
