Birth Control and Lack of Sex Education

Birth control. It sounds repugnant as it ticks the idea of “anti-life” But I think it's the most
effective way to control the inflation of our population. It is already given that here in the
Philippines, abortion is not an acceptable choice to the society because we are a
catholic country. I do believe that Birth control is more efficient and humane in controlling
the number of unwanted pregnancy which commonly leads to abortion. It is efficient and
humane because you are stopping the formation of the fetus and basically you're not
killing any fetus. It would just be as bad as masturbating which is the stimulation of the
genitals with the hand for sexual pleasure.

There are a lot of dilemma that we are facing right now because of our lack of Education
in Sex and Birth Control Methods. One of which is Teenage pregnancy. According to
Commission on Population (Popcom), During the 2019 World Population Day Forum,
Around 500 teenagers have given birth every day in our country as more as adolescents
engage in premarital sex. Around 196,000 Filipinos ages between 15 and 19 years old
gets pregnant each year. This can be prevented if we will have proper sex education.
Hundreds if studies have shown that sex education have positive effects on individual
behavior, particularly when sex education programs incorporate all of the seven key
characteristics developed by Douglas Kirby from the National Campaign to Prevent
Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.

According to Gaby Agbulos an author from candy magazine, Teenagers who did not
receive proper sex education, would probably have no knowledge about diseases like
Chlamydia which is caused by a bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis, gonorrhea,
HIVs, AIDs, and syphilis and have no idea on how to prevent getting them. They might
accidentally hurt their partner and be unaware of irregularities in their body that is cause
by sexual activities. Having no sex education will not stop teenagers from having sex,
thus prevent them from being safe

With the given information, I can conclude that "Birth Control" and good "Sex Education"
may solve the problem that our country is facing for years. There are a lot of cases of
teenage pregnancy that were caused by our lack of sex education. Not only teenage
pregnancy, STDs and other diseases that are transmitted through sex could be solved if
we would have proper sex education
