Leadership Motivation

Group 3
Getting Senior Involved
Background :- My team signed a MOU with an external vendor for providing 3rd
party services

Problem :- Was having difficulty in getting work done from the partnered vendor

Scenario :- Whenever I approached the POC, he always either stalled the work or
said that he will have to discuss with his seniors. And, would never commit for
timeline of the deliverables

Solution :- After a while, I talked directly to his senior, and then on started including
him in communication loop. This motivated the employee to work diligently and
improved performance.
Building employee’s self esteem
Situation: Not getting appreciation or even acknowledgement for the work done on
multiple scenarios, just a nod. The motivation to work harder seemed to slip away.

Solution: The senior noticed this as the team’s overall performance was getting
hindered. He started to acknowledge the work. He started to praise whenever
expectations were met and exceeded. He gave encouragement and praise
whenever due and also let the coworkers know about their achievements.During
meetings, most of the discussion was focussed on the work done well but also on
what needed to be improved. This turned out to be very motivating for the
employees.
Resources being underutilized
Background: The company was a startup into B2C Interior Furnishings and would use leads from digital
marketing to approach prospective investors

Problem:The quality of leads seemed to be going down and we were losing viable ones due to lack of
follow up

Scenario: The Business Development team was small and overloaded with work. They did not see this
issue as very important even though they were losing out on the chance to do crores worth of business.
There was no one handling this issue separately

Solution: I took matters into my own hands and directly approached the digital marketing team and stayed
after hours to review content. I set aside three hours of work everyday for follow ups and increased viable
leads from 42 to 126 in a month. Three were finally converted for a total investment of 4.35 crore
Lack of information flow
Problem: No information regarding a site visit we had to undertake to a precarious
area thereby leading to too many calls from office colleagues as well as family
members aside from being unable to get hygienic food and other necessities

Solution: I decided to speak to my team and then convey the same to a higher
authority so as to be able to get all the necessary details before any survey and
site visit keeping us informed and prepared in terms the necessary items on hand.
