Both terms e-business and e-commerce are often used interchangeably.

E-business: When electronic medium is used in all the day-to-day activities, then it
may be termed as e-business. E-business deals with recruiting, training employees
and sharing any internal information to enhance business process.

E-Commerce: When a commercial transaction takes place over electronic network,


then it is termed as e-commerce. In e-commerce, information and computing
technologies are used in inter business and intra-business transactions and in
business to consumer transactions.

1. E-Commerce is buying and selling of goods electronically whereas E-Business not


only includes buying and selling but it also includes CRM (customer resource
management), ERM (enterprise resource management), etc.

2. The approach of e-commerce is extrovert whereas Approach of e-business is an


ambivert.

3. E-Commerce uses the internet whereas E-Business uses internet, intranet, and
extranet.

4. E-Commerce involves commercial transactions whereas E-Business involves

etc.

6. E-Commerce is part of e-business whereas E-Business includes E-Commerce.

E-commerce will involve buying and selling of goods through internet and are mainly
shopping sites or marketplaces.

E business means any business that is done through internet and not necessarily
there is any buying or selling.

E-commerce Involves buying and selling goods around the Internet. Whereas E-
business is a little different as it is may not connected with commercial transactions.

paying for the goods and services are done over the internet.
 There are certain types of e-commerce.

B2B – The process where buying and selling of goods and services between
businesses is known as Business to Business. Example: Oracle, Alibaba, Qualcomm,
etc.

B2C – The process whereby the goods are sold by the business to customer.
Example: Intel, Dell etc.

C2C – The commercial transaction between customer to customer. : Example OLX,


Quickr etc.

C2B – The commercial transaction between the customer to the business

 E-commerce includes transaction related to money.


 E-commerce is a major component of E-business.
 E-commerce has extrovert approaches that cover customer, supplier,
distributor.
 E-commerce requires a website that can represent a business.
 E-commerce uses the internet to connect to the rest of the world.

Brick and Click: The business which exists both electronic as well as offline such as
Amazon, Walmart.
