The Limasawa first mass

story started as an innocent error and has become a government-sponsored hoax. Why? That
is about to unfold as we stand on our argument that first venue of mass was in no other than
Masao, Butuan. I am Allyssa, the first speaker of the opposition team. In the response to the

Before I start with anything else, I know that everyone in this room is aware that religion has
shaped our culture. We are an Asian Christian Nation and there are approximately 86 percent
of Filipino citizens with Catholic Religion. This religion was introduced to us by the spaniards
which colonized us for about 333 years. That is why our religion plays a huge and important
role in our history. Since, it is a part of our identity, it is as important as knowing where it all
started. But despite of years of discussions, the talks about where the first mass took place is
still on going and unresolved. Today, we take our firm stand with our motion that the Mazaua
Island where the first mass was held is indeed the Masao in Butuan.
Let me discuss to you all the evidences, based on the datas I've gathered through research
which I'm confident of
As stated in Pigafetta’s diary, they stayed for seven days and rice harvested for 2 days in the
place which he described as a rich place with abundace of gold. Observing the archeological
finds in Masao, there were balanghai boats which can only be found in the Butuan, the
Golden Buddha that is now in the US and many other relics that can be a proof that the place
of Masao is a rich place back at that time unlike Limasawa which is a typhoon prone place and
even finds It hard to grow agricultural crops. So what can you harvest in an easily affected by
flood place?
A report by the Manila Observatory identified other factors behind the disaster aside from the
heavy rains. These include geographic conditions. According to the reports of Manila
Observatory, soil in most parts of leyte exceeded its capacity to hold water and is susceptible
to erosion.
More than a hundred of people helped in the harvest, meaning it was a huge agricultural area
and if you have been to limasawa you’ll know that they get their rice harvests from their
neighboring islands but again, as stated in Pigaffeta’s diary, the Spaniards helped harvest rice
in the place.

Mazava or Mazaua located 9 and 1/3 latitude and located south of Seilani(Leyte) which 10 latitude I
have examined some location like leyte and mactan based on the given data i have found out it was
correct and the exact location of the said place no doubt, except Limasawa. Limasawa is an island
9.9 latitude near leyte. Google Map is very accurate because it uses sattelite and you can point the
exact location of the place precisely...you can see even your house in just one click... you can
determine the exact location the (latitude and longitude). 9 dgree and 40’ and longitude of 125 28’
Mazaua or Mazava probably located in the near butuan city or nearby municipality within Agusan del
Norte
TYPHOONS IN LEYTE

 The typhoon which devastated Leyte in October 1897 left more than 400 people dead
The typhoon was considered “among the most violent that traversed the Philippine archipelago”.

 second deadliest typhoon in Philippine history. On November 5, 1991, torrential rains brought by
Typhoon Uring (Thelma) caused rivers to overflow – triggering flash floods
At least 4,000 people died in the massive flooding with about 3,000 people injured and about 2,500 reported
missing after the floods

 The province of Leyte was placed under a state of calamity on , December 26 , due to the trail of
destruction brought about by Typhoon Ursula

 And the famous Typhoon Yolanda the powerful super tropical typhoon.
