1. Who did you interview/job shadow?

information? How do you know this person? The person that I job shadowed was Teresa Clark,
she is a pharmacy technician who works at CVS and its located at 16975 Bear Valley Rd
Drive.
2.What does a typical day look like in this career? You first come in, go to the back, drop
off the things you have (purse, coat, etc.) because you can’t have anything like a hood or
anything with deep pockets in it. It’s just precautionary measures because you’re working with
medicine, narcotics, and stuff like that. Then, you go out and clock in and everything. Then go
and look at a duty board. The pharmacy is set up with four sections: drop off, production, and
pick-up. You do all those four things the whole day.
3. What Skills and abilities do you need to succeed in this career? Math will come in
handy when the pharmacy technician is filling prescriptions and measuring pharmaceuticals.
Pharmacy Technicians work with patients and pharmacists with the ability to communicate both
written and verbally being a key to providing good customer service. Organizational skills will
help when packaging and labeling prescriptions.
4.What are some facts you learned about this career that you were unaware of prior to
this experience? Pharmacy technician’s average income rates per year are $32,700 and $
15.72 per hour. The wage rates change with the work set-up, experience, expertise. Increase
your skills and professional knowledge to earn an income that's higher than $15.72 per
hour.
5. Which aspects of this career are appealing to you? Explain. What's appealing in this
career is managing areas of medicines supply such as dispensaries, supervising other
pharmacy staff and produce medicines in hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry.
6. Which aspects of this career are not appealing to you? Explain. The work environment
on a busy day can be chaotic because sometimes stuff doesn’t get done and if it gets slow at
one point, it just shows up the whole day. It’d just get more backed up and backed up.
7. How does this career compare to your strengths, interests, and values? Is it a good fit
for you? Explain. My strengths in this career are my communication, management and
interpersonal skills.
8. What would you need to do to prepare for a job in this field? You would need to do a
two-year program for pharmacy technicians.
9. How has this experience influenced your career goals? This motivates me even more
in doing pharmacy tech.
