You first come in, go to the back, drop off the things you have (purse, coat, etc.) because you can’t have anything like a hood or anything with deep pockets in it. It’s just precautionary measures because you’re working with medicine, narcotics, and stuff like that. Then, you go out and clock in and everything. Then go and look at a duty board. The pharmacy is set up with four sections: drop off, production, and pick-up. You do all those four things the whole day. 3. What Skills and abilities do you need to succeed in this career? Math will come in handy when the pharmacy technician is filling prescriptions and measuring pharmaceuticals. Pharmacy Technicians work with patients and pharmacists with the ability to communicate both written and verbally being a key to providing good customer service. The work environment on a busy day can be chaotic because sometimes stuff doesn’t get done and if it gets slow at one point, it just shows up the whole day.
