ROCK AL PARQUE

Rock al Parque is an international rock festival that has been held in the city of Bogotá,
Colombia, since 1994. It is the largest free and open-air festival in Latin America and Latin
America and the third largest in the world.

It is part of the series of Festivals at the Park promoted by the District Secretariat of Culture,
Recreation and Sports; is the oldest and the one that began the festival cycle, its scheme
being emulated later with different themes and artistic genres such as Salsa , Jazz, Hip Hop,
Opera, Zarzuela among others.

The attendance to the event in 2014 was massive and exceeded the record compared to
the previous years. This great poster, was indispensable and responsible for the ode to
music that made it overcome the greater assistance it had had so far, when in 2004 and
turning ten years had more 350,000 spectators. Approximately 400,000 people during the
three days of celebration in this 2014.

The concerts were held in the District Planetarium and the call for all musical forms was
mostly hosted by metal bands. For this reason, the metal scene in Bogotá was consolidated.
This is how the festival was held from May 26 to 29 in different stages such as the open-air
theater of La Media Torta, Simón Bolívar Park, the Plaza de Toros La Santa María, the latter
being the only place where He charged the entrance.

The festival presents national and international bands of different genres, national artists
since 1997 are selected by a jury chosen by open call after participating in a multi-stage
process (preselection, auditions and live presentation). The bands chosen have as prize an
economic incentive established by decree, and the opportunity to share the stage and
experiences with international bands and be part of all the advertising and media
deployment of the event, being a birthplace of great artists. International artists and some
other nationals are invited by the organizing committee. Up to the 2009 version, 473 bands
have been presented.
Currently the festival takes place during three days in the Simón Bolívar Park where two
stages are installed (three stages from 2009) in which bands of different genres are
presented simultaneously, the festival is broadcast live on the Capital Channel and the radio
station where interviews are also conducted to the participants after the presentations.
The concerts begin at one in the afternoon and end promptly at 10 at night, although in the
2012 edition they extended the three days, until 11 at night and in the 2019 edition, the
closing scheduled for 1 July ended July 2 at one o'clock in the morning. Of the 80,000 people
who attended the first Festival in 1995, it has been increasingly large calls. Until 2009,
3,092,000 people had attended.
Rock al Parque es un festival internacional de rock que se lleva a cabo en la ciudad
de Bogotá, Colombia, desde el año 1994. Es el festival gratuito y al aire libre más grande
de Hispanoamérica e Iberoamérica y el tercero más grande del mundo.
Hace parte de la serie de los Festivales Al Parque impulsados por la Secretaría Distrital de
Cultura, Recreación y Deporte; es el más antiguo y el que comenzó el ciclo de festivales, siendo
emulado su esquema luego con diferentes temas y géneros artísticos como Salsa, Jazz, Hip
Hop, Ópera, Zarzuela entre otros.
La asistencia al evento el 2014 fue masiva y sobrepasó el récord respecto a los años anteriores.
Este gran cartel, fue indispensable y responsable de la oda a la música que hizo superar la
mayor asistencia que había tenido hasta el momento, cuando en el año 2004 y cumpliendo diez
años tuvo más 350.000 espectadores. Aproximadamente 400.000 personas durante los tres
días de celebración en este 2014.
Los conciertos eran realizados en el Planetario Distrital y la convocatoria paran todas las formas
musicales tuvo acogida en su mayoría por bandas de metal. Por tal razón se fue consolidando
la escena del metal en Bogotá. Fue así como el festival se llevó a cabo del 26 al 29 de mayo en
diferentes escenarios como el teatro al aire libre de La Media Torta, el Parque Simón Bolívar,
la Plaza de Toros La Santa María, este último siendo el único lugar donde se cobró la entrada.
El festival presenta bandas nacionales e internacionales de diferentes géneros, los artistas
nacionales desde 1997 son seleccionados por un jurado escogido por convocatoria abierta
después de participar en un proceso de varias etapas (preselección, audiciones y presentación
en vivo). Las bandas elegidas tienen como premio un incentivo económico establecido por
decreto, y la oportunidad de compartir escenario y experiencias con bandas internacionales y
hacer parte de toda la publicidad y despliegue mediático del evento, siendo un lugar de
nacimiento de grandes artistas. Los artistas internacionales y algunos otros nacionales son
invitados por el comité organizador. Hasta la versión de 2009 se han presentado 473 bandas.

Actualmente el festival se desarrolla durante tres días en el Parque Simón Bolívar donde se
instalan dos escenarios (tres escenarios a partir de 2009) en los cuales se presentan bandas
de diferentes géneros de manera simultánea, el festival es transmitido en vivo por el Canal
Capital y la emisora Radionica donde también se realizan entrevistas a los participantes
después de las presentaciones.
Los conciertos comienzan a la una de la tarde y terminan puntualmente a las 10 de la noche,
aunque en la edición del 2012 se extendieron los tres días, hasta las 11 de la noche y en la
edición de 2019, el cierre programado para el 1 de julio terminó el 2 de julio a la una de la
madrugada. De las 80 mil personas que asistieron en 1995 al primer Festival, se ha pasado a
convocatorias cada vez más grandes. Hasta el año 2009 habían asistido 3.092.000 personas.
