1. Have you ever felt overwhelmed while going through a museum? If so, in what way?

- Yes, I have felt overwhelmed going through a museum because since I am not too big on
art, I don’t really know what to do or if there are certain “rules” you follow. Also,
because I know art lovers enjoy talking about out so it overwhelms me thinking about
having someone come up to me and ask for my opinion.

2. What are tools of the ‘visual language’?

- How to read lines, texture, and how to recognize period styles

3. Do you agree with the lecturer’s statement—we like what we know.??? What is an example
from your life? (does not have to be art related—but, can be).

- Yes, I agree with the lecturer’s statement. I believe that I like stuff that I already know of
or already like. Such as medicine or anything medical, that is a passion of mine so
anything regarding that interests me so much even if it is the littlest thing ever.

- For portable paintings and they reflect the era in which they were made

6. What’s your impression of the sculptures she presented? (your opinion)

- I actually enjoyed the sculptures she presented because I once visited Greece and it
reminded me of the sculptures over there so I really enjoyed seeing that and how much
they vary by size and shape and how some give off illusions.

- Sculptures were presented in medieval and early renaissance

- Pedestals, having their own niches, and in the 18th century there would be casts and
liberated from the pedestal.

9. Art in reproduction: How does this reflect art—is it accurate, etc. What are some pitfalls of
reproduction? (2 points)
- I believe that this is accurate because you always see art in different forms, and it can
constantly be changing. Some pitfalls are that they work alone, such as no frames or
pedestals, there is an inaccuracy in color, and the size of the works. Also, you don’t get
the right illustration of the texture and that they will never be quite like the original.

10. What is genre?

- Genre is the basic type of art (sculpture, paintings, prints, drawings)

11. What is media?

- Media is the materials out of which the work is made

12. What are the tools?

- The tools are instruments used to manipulate media

13. What is technique?

- Technique is the manner of manipulating the media with the tools (which can include
your hands)

14. The artist and viewer: What’s the importance of this relationship?

- The importance of this relationship is that we make the connections and truly enjoy the
art on our own.

15. What’s your impression of the ‘horse’ artwork? By Franz Marc (Horse in Landscape, 2910)?
1. What types of lines are used?

- To me it seems very freeing and a calm painting. It is something that makes it beautiful.
The lines used are curvilinear which gives a calm impression
