CERAMICS
-Chinese pottery, also called Chinese ceramics, objects made of clay and hardened
by heat: earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain, particularly those made in China.
Nowhere in the world has pottery assumed such importance as in China, and the
influence of Chinese porcelain on later European pottery has been profound.

2.ARCHITECTURE
-In a sense, architecture is the carrier of culture. Styles of Chinese ancient
architecture are rich and varied, such as temples, imperial palaces, altars,
pavilions, official residencies and folk houses, which greatly reflect ancient
thought - the harmonious unity of human beings with nature.

3.MUSIC
-Traditional music in China is played on solo instruments or in small ensembles of
plucked and bowed stringed instruments, flutes, and various cymbals, gongs, and
drums. Chinese orchestras traditionally consist of bowed strings, woodwinds,
plucked strings and percussion.

4.LITERATURE
-Chinese literary works include fiction, philosophical and religious works, poetry,
and scientific writings. The dynastic eras frame the history of Chinese literature
and are examined one by one. The grammar of the written Classical Language is
different than the spoken languages of the past two thousand years.

5. MARTIAL ARTS
-Chinese Kung Fu (Martial Arts or as popularly referred to as Gongfu or Wushu) is
a series of fighting styles which has developed over a long historical period in
China. ... With a number of movement sets, boxing styles, weapon skills and some
fighting stunts, Kung Fu keeps its original function of self-defense.

6.CUISINE
-A Chinese meal is consisted of two parts: staple food, normally made of rice,
noodles or steamed buns, and ts'ai, vegetable and meat dishes. Normally, the dishes
are often eaten together with a mouthful of rice.

7.VISUAL ARTS
-Painting and calligraphy, like poetry, were the domain of the elite, and most
educated Chinese traditionally boasted of some competence in them. There are early
anonymous and folk-oriented paintings on tomb and cave walls, and many works are
known from the Han dynasty .Fine-art painters are known by name from as early as
the 6th century CE from historical records and serially copied versions of their
works. Chinese painting is predominantly of landscapes, done in black pine-soot ink
on fine paper or silk, occasionally with the addition of faint colour washes. The
most vigorous period for landscape painting spanned the years from the Song
(960�1279) to the Ming (1368�1644) dynasty.

8.PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION


-Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism are considered the �three pillars� of ancient
Chinese society. As philosophies and religions, they not only influenced
spirituality, but also government, science, the arts, and social structure.

9. Yin-Yang:
-Yin and yang (or yin-yang) is a complex, relational concept in Chinese culture
that has developed over thousands of years. Briefly put, the meaning of yin and
yang is that the universe is governed by a cosmic duality, sets of two opposing and
complementing principles or cosmic energies that can be observed in nature.

10.Chinese medicine:
-Chinese Medicine-Traditional Chinese medicine is built on a foundation of more
than 2,500 years of Chinese medical practices that includes various forms of herbal
medicine, acupuncture, massage, exercise and dietary therapy. Its philosophy is
based on Yinyangism,(the combination of Five Phases theory with Yin-Yang theory)
which was later absorbed by Daoism. In general, disease is perceived as a
disharmony or imbalance in the functions or interactions of yin, yang, meridians
etc. between the human body and the environment. Therapy is based on which �pattern
of disharmony� can be identified. Today Traditional Chinese medicine is widely used
in China and is becoming increasingly prevalent in Europe and North America.

11. Chinese lanterns:


-Made of paper, the lantern, called lampion here, is the main focus of attention of
the celebration as it symbolizes the wish for a bright future. In addition, the
Chinese believe that while red is a symbol of happiness, gold is a symbol of
wealth.
