1. INTRODUCTION.

 The notification of award of the above mentioned contract was made on 24th November, 2016.
and the contract signing was made on the 22nd. December, 2016. The initial commencement date
of the works was 9th. January, 2017 but it was later moved to 23rd. January, 2017; this was to
allow us to receive the Advance payment.

2. MAJOR CAUSES OF EXTENSION OF COMPLETION PERIOD.

 Bad road network to the site and sources of sand

 Non availability of crushed stones in the district; we were compelled to procure crushed stones
from Chipata- Sable Construction limited.
 Heavy rainfall experienced disrupted the normal pace of work
 Late issuance of instructions affected some activities
 Non availability and high cost of timber during the rainy season. Most of the timber available is
sourced from Malawi; during the rainy season accessibility to sources of timber from Malawi is
almost impossible hence the high cost of the few timber on the market.
 Generally the cost of material for construction from Petauke is higher, so we were compelled to
source them from Lusaka and Chipata; this is added to further delays.
