I, Christian Cory #1927, oflawful age, being first duly sworn on oath, depose and state:
Your Affiant is a Detective with the Wichita Police Department (WPD), and in that
capacity was assigned the follow-up investigation of WPD case 17C023336. This incident
occurred on April 9, 2017 in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas.
The identity of an individuals referenced herein are known to your Affiant. However,
many individua1s arc referenced by initia1s only as Affiant beHeves that revealing their full
names would jeopardize the safety or well-being of these witnesses. Revealing the full identity of
all individuals referenced herein could also risk the destruction of evidence.
On April 9, 2017 Wichita Police Officers were dispatched to an unknown call for police
to the address of 1427 S. Elizabeth. Sedgwick County 911 received a call from JG stating that
his grandma was pushed. He said the address in front of him was "1427", and he could see the
Elizabeth street sign, and he locked himself in his grandma's car. He said Rachael was JO's
father's girlfriend. JG said he saw Rachael knock down then hit his grandma really hard. JO
said he then ran out of the house. JG said Rachael was hurting his grandma. JG said he was at
Rachael's house. At another point in the conversation JG said the street he was on was called
Rita. 10 said Rachae1 was at the car then ran away to a house on an adjacent street where he
contacted BM.
Dispatch then began speaking with BM on JO's phone. BM stated that a young boy was
at his residence saying that someone was trying to kill him. Officcr Crouch #2055 made contact
with BM and the juvenile boy, JO at 8M's residence. Off. Crouch leamed JO and his
grandmother, Micki Davis (63WIF), had gone to the residence of his father's eXMgirlfriend, Jater
identified as Rachael Hilyard (35W/F). JO stated that when they arrived they went into the
garage and his grandmother was being beaten up by "Rachael." JG stated he then grabbed his
grandmother's cell phone in her truck, called 911 and then ran. JO stated he then ran as he was
talking with 911. JG stated he did not know the actual address, but later told Officer Crouch he
couJd point it out. They then made it to the 1400 block of West Rita and JG pointed to a white
Ford Ranger pick-up truck that was backed into the driveway of 1426 West Rita, Wichita,
Sedgwick County, Kansas.
Officers were concerned for the welfare of Micki Davis based on the statements of 10.
Officer Spicuglia then tugged on the garage door, of 1426 W. Rita, which was not locked and it
rolled upwards. Officer Spicuglia looked into the garage and saw what he thought at first was a
mannequin. Officer Crouch then confinned that it was a body lying on the floor of the garage.
Officer Crouch approached the body to check for a pulse and found that the body was missing its
head. Officer Crouch observed a large amount of blood and a black handle kitchen knife lying
close to the right shoulder of the body. Officer Crouch stated the body appeared to be a female
wearing a black colored blouse and shorts.
Wichita Police Department Officers entered the house to check for more victims and a

suspect. Rachael Hilyard, the lone occupant of the residence, was located inside of the bathroom
and was taken into custody. Rachael was uninjured but had blood on the sleeves of her jacket,
blood in her hair and blood on the shoes she was wearing. Officer Crouch also stated that while
they were taking Rachael into custody he could smell a strong odor of raw marijuana from the
bathroom. As the officers were clearing the rest of the residence Officer Wannow #2022 walked
into the kitchen and observed a human head with curly brown hair in the kitchen sink.
Your Affiant conducted an interview with JO. JG stated that Micki Davis received a
phone call from Rachael asking them to come over and get his father's items, otherwise she
would put them out to the curb. JG slated he accompanied Micki Davis to go pick up the items
from Rachael. Your Affiant observed Micki Davis' call log from her cell phone and saw a phone
call at 04/09/17 at 12:53pm from ". . Rachael". JG stated he believed the call
had come in aroun~our Affiant conducted a records check and Rachael gave the
phone number o f - - . to Wichita Police Department (WPD) Officers on 03120117
which is documented under WPD case number 17CO 18332.
Lt. Phipps # 1726 was assisting in the photography of Rachael Hilyard she stated, "This
was my fault." Rachael's clothes werc collected by Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) after
photographs were taken.
Your Affiant contacted Rachael Hilyard and began asking for personal history
information. Rachael spontaneously stated it seemed like she was coming at me with a picture
frame and this has happened before like deja vu. God was telling me to do it. I asked her if she
had taken any drugs or alcohol recently and Rachael said she didn't want to talk about it. No
further contact was had with Rachel.
CSI responded and collected evidence from 1426 W. Rita after a search warrant was
obtained for the residence.
Micki Davis' body and head were transported to Sedgwick County Regional Forensic
Science Center (SCRFSC) for an autopsy. Your Affiant received a Provisional Anatomic
Diagnoses (PAD) from Dr. T. Gorrill, M.D., Ph.D., and Chief Medical Examiner of the
SCRFSC. Dr. Oorri)] listed on the PAD the cause of Micki Davis' death as sharp force injuries
through the neck and the manner of her death a homicide.

FURTHER AFFIANT SAYETH NOT.
