NARRATIVE REPPORT

All teachers are reading teachers. After the first quarter reading assessment and
evaluation I found out that there were some students from the grade 7 who could hardly
read and some cannot comprehend well. I also found out that some students just read
and read and when you ask them about what they read they cannot answer. Different
types of readers with different reading problems. And so, I started my reading session
and gave them their different schedule for reading. I prepared different activities which
is also appropriate to them. For students who could hardly read I started with
syllabication then word to phrase and for the students who can read but cannot
comprehend I gave them a short story or short poem then I let them draw what they
have understand. The basic readers also will do the flashcard and analogy reading for
them to practice. I believe that these basic strategies will help them improve their
reading skills and reading comprehension.
I was really amazed with the performance of some students because they did well in
the first quarter and so I promoted them to the next level. This time I prepared another
reading activity and evaluate them if they are really improving. I prepared sequencing
events activity, concept map, story telling or even outdoor activities like treasure hunting
and word finding.
At the end of the day when I knew that I have accomplished something I am satisfied
already and thankful that despite everything I was able to teach them and guide
although their journey as a student.
