Efficiency of Immersion Work in Improving

the Knowledge and Behavior of Senior High
School Students on Job Perception
CHAPTER I

Introduction

One of the K12 basic education program's aims is to develop the skills, knowledge

and values of the learners that are important to further education and/or entering

the world of work. In order to achieve greater alignment between basic education

and the development goals of the country, Work Immersion has been introduced into

the curriculum as a required subject. This subject will provide opportunities for

learners; familiarize themselves with the workplace; model employment; and apply

their skills in different work environments in areas of specialization or relevant

subjects. Job Immersion is a graduation requirement for Grade12 students to achieve

these goals. Apprentices are engaged in real working environments such as

DIVISION OF PAMPANGA

laboratories and laboratory offices where no previous experience or expertise is

important. (Order No. 30 S. 2017 DepEd)

Job immersion allows students to develop new knowledge and training in order

to improve their skills. That's why educational institutions offer on - the-job training

and immersion to help students and empower them to pursue their chosen career and

improve their skills. Yet job immersion also prepares the students for the real world,

teaching them how to work in a business, yet eventually excelling in a particular

career.

Job immersion is one of the graduation requirements for senior high school

students and it seeks to educate and direct the students about their future and career as

well as to prepare them for the modern world of work. It is considered a useful tool

that bridges the school's use of school and professional life to build suitable skills

among students to increase their chances of employability on the highly competitive

labor market.

The perception of completing a job is self-efficacy, according to Wood &

Bandura (1989) as quoted in Machmud (2018). Although Bandura (1997), as quoted in

Domenech-Betoret et al. (2017), described self-efficacy as "the confidence of a person

in their own ability to organize and execute actions to produce the desired results and

achievements." Self-efficacy is one's self-confidence to effectively achieve the

mission. Students adapt and incorporate the new environment to their workplace

immediately so that they can complete their immersion topic while enhancing their

skills.

Parents, guardians, class counselors, teachers and coordinators of work

immersion have played an important role in developing the self-efficacy of the

learners. The rearing of parents influenced the level of self-efficacy of the learners

Home is the primary place where the personality and attitude of the learners have

grown. Proper parenting is very important as it contributes a great deal to the self-

esteem of the learners. Teachers develop each learner's skills and talents in their

school and are responsible for teaching the necessary skills in every strand of the high

school curriculum. Until their work immersion deployment, proper orientation of the

learners is crucial because it contributes a lot to the preparation of the trainees and

emphasizes the importance of completing the task and self-efficacy for each trainee,

which helps to successfully complete the work immersion program.

contributes a great deal to the self-esteem of the learners. Teachers develop each

learner's skills and talents in their school and are responsible for teaching the

necessary skills in every strand of the high school curriculum. Work immersion

teachers and coordinators should develop a curriculum that focuses on improving the

learners ' self-efficacy before being introduced to various industry partners because

this plan will enable the learners to trust their own skills, improve their self-

confidence, inspire and fulfill themselves to be involved and motivated to complete a

work immersion program The happiness felt by the learners, the information, skills

and actions they learned from the actual work environments would motivate them to

pursue higher education, others would engage in entrepreneurship, and some would

find a job.

The study was conducted to determine the level of self-efficacy and job

immersion satisfaction among high school students in grade 12

The study outcome may help them produce ideas or strategic design for the

Continuous Improvement Plan that would serve as one of the school's best practices in

partnership with the school head and administration.

Statement of the Problem

General Problem:

This study aims to determine Efficiency of Immersion Work in Improving the

Knowledge and Behavior of Senior High School Students on Job Perception.

Specific Problems:

1. How may the respondents be described in terms of:

1.1 Age

1.2 Gender

1.3 Strand

2. What is Efficiency of the students towards work?

3. What is the level of work immersion behavior of the students in their respective

workplace?

4. Is there a significant relationship between Efficiency and work immersion

behavior?
DIVISION OF PAMPANGA

Significance of the Study

This study is important because it will benefit the following:

For Parents, it will help them to know that it is not simply to choose the right

strand for their career path. And to easily find a job that is connected to their course.

For Graduates, it will help them to choose their right course that is connected to

their strand. And to inform that other subjects from their strand might apply to their

course.

To the Curriculum Developer, it will help them to modify curriculum for

convenient learning.

To the future researchers, they can adapt the findings of the study.

Scope and Limitation

This study focuses on the Efficiency of Immersion Work in Improving the

CHAPTER 2

Review of Related Literature

According to YKS (2018) they will know about the work ethics, will gain

knowledge about the safety in the workplace, the rights, responsibilities, learning the

effective way to resolve conflicts among coworkers and the work will not be that hard

for them if they apply at the same or related company. Rarely are OJT students

expected to produce the same products that regular employees produce. If that’s the

case, how are these students going to learn prior to their expectation with these experts

that are going to teach them to be future professionals.

METHODOLOGY

The research paper is about to study the Efficiency of Immersion Work in Improving
the Knowledge and Behavior of Senior High School Students on Job Perception in
Sucad National High School S.Y. 2019 – 2020. The study started on November 2019
and will end on January Two Thousand Twenty.

The researchers utilize the qualitative approach in nature, wherein the data are

in informative form because the study seeks to know Efficiency of Immersion Work in

Improving the Knowledge and Behavior of the Grade 12 Senior High School Students

of Sucad National High School. According to Denzin and Lincoln (2000), qualitative

research involves an interpretive and naturalistic approach: “This means that qualitative

researchers study things in their natural settings, attempting to make sense of, or to

interpret, phenomena in terms of the meanings people bring to them” (p. 3). It means

that this research can use informative form of data to show the results from the

informants. The instrument that will be used in this study is in an interview survey form

that is answerable by the opinions of the participants. Through this, we can collect data

from our participants that will help us researchers on our conclusion. The participants

of this study are the Grade 12 Senior High School Students of SNHS. They are the one

who will answer our interview surveys. The total respondents of this study are the 2

sections of Grade 12 Seniors which consist of 42 students.

CONCLUSION

The researchers concluded that students that have a good behavior and knowledge in
work immersion. Work immersion has been very effective in developing relevant
skills for their respective sports and serves as training preparation for their choice of
career. It has a huge impact on their lives as it has developed their related professional
knowledge and skills in coaching, officiating, educating athletes and coordinating
sporting events. Their immersion work focused on preparation and field activities
relevant to their age, gender and sporting events.

Recommendation

We recommend that all of the grade 12 Students must maintain as good

behavior and knowledge in work immersion to prevent negative comments of their
establishment’s image and they must know how to communicate to teacher and
manager supervisor.

To the future Grade 12 students who will take their immersion, they should have

a good behavior practices and knowledge in work immersion to be aware what they will

do when they were assigned to the restaurant.

DIVISION OF PAMPANGA

To the teachers, they must taught properly the students about attitude and

behavior to be ready in their work immersion.

To the parents, they had good attitude in their own house to teach their children.

For the future researchers who will do the same research Efficiency of

Immersion Work in Improving the Knowledge and Behavior of Senior High School

Students on Job Perception they can use the research as a reference Curriculum

developer can adopt the findings to improve curriculum.
