Volkite Weaponry

This is a supplement for use in the 40k roleplaying game line of Fantasy
Flight Games to utilize Volkite Weaponry.

Volkite Weapons
"Volkite Weapon" is a Mechanicum term for a type of ancient thermal ray
weapon dating back to the Age of Strife. Possessing a killing power
surpassing most armaments of their size, Volkites were little-understood
and difficult to replicate on even the most capable Mechanicus Forge
Worlds. Volkite weapons could Deflagrate organic matter, explosively
burning flesh into ash and jetting fire. A direct hit by a Volkite weapon could
cause a target to simply combust, often taking nearby comrades with them.
All volkite weapons can be used if the character has the Exotic Weapon
Training (Volkite), separate exotic trainings are not required for the
different Volkite weapons.

Volkite Serpenta
The smallest Volkite weapon is the serpenta, a pistol these days rarely used
by anyone but the most respected Magoses.

Volkite Charger
he Volkite Charger is a type of Volkite Weapon. The weapon was used
during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy by the Legiones Astartes and
Mechanicum.
Whilst not benefiting from the range or power of its larger cousins, the
charger retained the volkite beams deflagrating effects and allows its
wielder a greater degree of movement. Volkite chargers were often
employed by Legion Tactical Support squads.

Volkite Blaster
Volkite weaponry is very rare these days and only a select few Magoses are
allowed to possess one of the legendary Volkite Blasters for to create them
a volkite weapon must be intergrated into a tech-priests body.
Special: A Volkite Blaster can only be taken through a mechandrite or
cybernetic implant (such as an “Intergrated weapon”). The weapon has a
clip size regardless of the normal rules for them provided by the impant
and when the weapon needs to “reload” the wielder does so automatically
and without spending time, instead suffering one fatigue.

Volkite Caliver
The Volkite Caliver was a type of Volkite Weapon used by the Legiones
Astartes and Mechanicum during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.
A rifle Volkite variant with a devastating effect on flesh and bone, the
volkite caliver was often employed by mobile Legion Tactical Support
Squads, utilizing firepower superior to that of the more common bolter.

Volkite Culverin
The Volkite Culverin is a heavy Volkite Weapon. The most potent man-
portable Volkite weapon in the Imperium's arsenal, its beam has a
devastating effect on organic matter, explosively burning flesh into ash and
jetting fire. Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts could mount two Volkite
Culverin on a single arm for a devastating primary weapon.

Volkite Carronade
The Volkite Carronade was a type of Volkite Weapon used by the Legiones
Astartes and Mechanicum during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.
The Volkite Carronade was a larger variant of the Volkite weapons family,
mounted on Fellglaive tanks. They could destroy large enemy targets in a
single sweep.
Special: The spray of the Volkite Carronade is shaped as a 1m wide beam
with the set range.

Telerac Pattern-Volkites
The loss of Forge Worlds during The Horus Heresy sped the decline of
Volkite weapons in the Imperium. The technology, difficult to manufacture
even by the most able of the Mechnicum’s forges, was rendered scarce in
the aftermath of The Age of Darkness. Telerac pattern weapons are far
more ancient and ill-omened even those designated 'Proteus', the name
implying dark associations with the technological horrors of the deep
reaches of the Age of Strife. The shortage of reliable supplies of Volkite
weaponry saw many Telerac pattern weapons restored to service in the
name of the Emperor, and carefully mainteded in the Space Marine
armouries.

Special Rules
Deflagrate
After resolving damage on the target, if the enemy has taken one or more
wounds roll a d5 on the energy critical table for the appropriate location
and apply the effects.
Doom from the Dark Age
When someone spends a fatepoint to survive this weapon roll a die, on the
roll of a 9 destiny is not enough to spare his life meaning the character loses
all fatepoints and then dies.
