Introduction [be01]
===============================================================================
Hi there. Welcome to my Brave Story walkthrough. In this document, you'll find
a ton of information on "Brave Story: New Traveler", a role-playing game
released for the Sony PSP. You probably knew that already, though. Anyway, I've
written a full guide that takes you through the whole whole game. All the
hidden items that are scattered around at various locations have been listed as
well. By following the main walkthrough, you won't miss anything at all. Sounds
pretty good, eh? While I don't want to sound like an idiot, I am actually very
satisfied with how this walkthrough turned out in the end. If you're wondering
about anything related to Brave Story: New Traveler, chances are that I've got
it covered. Please take a look at the table of contents above this paragraph,
then start reading in the section you find most interesting.
I won't waste more of your time now -- have a good time reading!

| slightly overbearing half |
| kitkin half ankhakin girl with an insatiable curiosity. In addition to |
| helping her parents run their inn, she also likes to go hunting in the |
| woods near her town. She is very bright and cheerful, but can be a |
| little forceful and aggressive. Yuno is a kind, trustworthy friend. |
| Even in battles where there's little hope of help or escape, she will |
| always be there for Tatsuya. She joins him on his quest so that she can |
| fulfill her dream of seeing the world. |
| |
'---------------------------------------------------------------------------´

|----------------------'---------|------------------------|---------------- |
| | CLASS: Parent Warrior | WEAPON: Axe |
| Sogreth is a warrior of the '------------------------'-----------------|
| waterkin who is trying his |
| best to raise his young son. Ever since his wife died, he has focused |
| solely on making his 4 year old son into a man. Although he has the best |
| of intentions, he sometimes takes his role as a mentor and drill sergeant |
| to ridiculous extremes; much to the despair of his son and the chagrin |
| of his neighbors. Although it seems unimaginable because of his imposing |
| appearance, he is surprisingly sentimental and prone to breaking down |
| into tears when things descend into melodrama. However, when it comes |
| time to do battle, he is all business. With the strength to cut through |
| even the toughest hides with his axe, he is the ultimate example of |
| pure, raw, waterkin power. Yargh! |

Game Basics & Hints [be05]
===============================================================================
- BASICS OF THE BASICS: Throughout the game, you'll have several characters
in your party. All of the characters have two basic gauges, HP gauge and BP
gauge. HP, Health, indicates how much health a character has, while BP
indicates how much Brave Power the character has. Both gauges can be refilled
by sleeping at an inn, finding a Healing Point, or eating healing items. If a
character runs out of HP, he/she will faint, and you'll have to either revive
the character using an item or skill (like wake water, camping items), find
an inn to sleep at, or use a healing point found in dungeons. As for BP,
you'll need it for pulling off Bravura Skills, which are pretty much the same
as magic attacks are in other games. You can restore BP by attacking enemies.
Dealing lots of damage to your enemies will restore more BP than doing just a
tiny bit of damage. Read more about this in the Battle System section.
- BE AWARE OF YOUR ENEMIES: Brave Story: New Traveler is a game that follows
the rules of good, old Role Playing Games. Because of this, most enemy
encounters are random. When walking around in dungeons, similar places, and
on the world map, you will often encounter enemies without even seeing them
before you're in the middle of the battle. You should always be prepared to
fight, so try not walking around for too long with characters that have low
health. In towns where people live however, there are usually no enemies.
- AVOID CONFUSION IN TOWNS: There are several towns in the game, and in all of
them, there are many kinds of stores and buildings. Many buildings have
emblems hanging one their walls, so that identifying what kind of store or
building is found inside. The various emblems and their meanings are:
.------------------.---------------------.--------------------------------.
| EMBLEM ICON | BUSINESS | PURPOSE OF BUSINESS |
|------------------|---------------------|--------------------------------|
| Bed | Inn | Sleep to regain HP/BP, save |
+------------------+---------------------+--------------------------------+
| Sword & Shield | Armory | Buy weapons & armor |
+------------------+---------------------+--------------------------------+
| Pouch | General Store | Buy healing & misc items |
+------------------+---------------------+--------------------------------+
| Firewyrm | Branch | Highlander/Peacekeeper HQ |
+------------------+---------------------+--------------------------------+
| Keg | Tavern | Hear the latest gossip |
+------------------+---------------------+--------------------------------+
| Wagon | Darbaba Stable | Nothing in particular! |
'------------------'---------------------'--------------------------------'
- SAVING & HEALING: There are two ways to save your game in Brave Story: New
Traveler. The first way, which is the most comfortable one, is to head inside
an inn in a town or city, and talk to the owner there. You'll be able to save
your progress for free at the inn, and for a small fee, you can sleep there
tor restore all of your HP/BP. The second option is to use a so-called Memory
Sphere, or Save Point, if you fancy. Save Points are bright, blue spheres
floating above the ground. Touching a Save Point lets you save your progress
for free. However, the Save Points are usually located in dungeons, far away
from towns and cities, and won't heal you in any way. If you want to heal
while being in a dungeon, you'll have to either use a healing item from your
inventory, or find a Healing Glim, also called Healing Point. The Healing
Points look similar to the Save Points, but are green instead of blue.
- SIDEQUESTS: After you've got an item called the Book of Quests, you can start
accepting sidequests, which are jobs various people want you to do for them.
Sometimes, people want special items, and other times, you'll simply have to
deliver their packages to someone. The sidequests are optional, but by
completing them you'll often earn some really nice rewards. All sidequests
will be logged in your Book of Quests.
- ACCESSORY CRAFTING: Almost all Role Playing Games developed sometime during
the last ten years have had some kind of item crafting, mixture mixing or
alchemy system. New Traveler is no exception, thankfully. After receiving the
Accessory Book close to the beginning of the game, you'll be able to keep log
of and collect various kinds of recipes, or diagrams, as they're called in
the game. By reading the Accessory Book you can see what kinds of items and
materials are needed in order to produce certain accessories. Once you've
collected the required items, you can create an accessory, and equip it in
order to boost your stats in some kind of way. All accessories boost
different stats. Have a look at the Accessory Crafting Guide I've written up
below the main walkthrough for more details.
===============================================================================
The Battle System [be06]
===============================================================================
- BRAVURA SKILLS: Bravura Skills are special skills that your characters will
sometimes learn when leveling up. Bravura skills often deal lots of damage
when used to attack enemies. However, not all Bravura skills are used for
dealing damage, as some are used for healing your party members. Bravura
skills cost BP (Brave Power) to use, just like magic skills cost MP in most
other Role Playing Games.
- UNITY SKILLS: The Unity Skills are pretty much the same as Bravura skills,
but there is one main difference. The difference is that Unity Skills are
skills where several party members combine their powers. This means that you
won't ever be able to pull one off if there's only one member in your party.
Even though several characters combine their powers to pull of Unity Skills,
it doesn't cost more than one character's turn to use them. While Bravura
skills are learned by leveling up, you will learn Unity skills as you fight
with certain party members in your combat group. There isn't a set number of
battles you have to win before learning a skill - it seems to vary a lot, so
keep on fighting using the characters you want to learn unity skills with.
- UNITY GUARD: Characters that often use Unity Skills together are more likely
to run up in front of their partner and take a blow from an incoming enemy
attack. This is called the unity guard system, and is very useful if one of
your characters has a low amount of HP when he/she gets attacked. There is no
manual way to control exactly when the system is triggered.
- BRAVE POWER: As mentioned above, Brave Power is consumed each time you use
a Bravura or Unity Skill. You earn BP by fighting enemies. Dealing lots of
damage to enemies earns you more BP than dealing little damage to them.
- EXTRA ATTACKS: Sometimes, you'll notice that your characters automatically
attacks enemies two times in a row. This is called an extra attack, and will
only work with normal attacks. Extra attacks are usually triggered when
attacking enemies that have already been weakened by other attacks. In other
words, attacking weakened enemies is something you should aim to do.
- EXPERIENCE POINTS: When winning against an enemy, a certain amount of
experience points is handed out to your party members. The party members
will split the amount of points between themselves in this way:
.----------------------------------------.--------------------------------.
| PARTY MEMBER CONDITIONS | EXPERIENCE AWARDED |
|----------------------------------------|--------------------------------|
| Knocked Out in Battle | No experience |
+----------------------------------------+--------------------------------+
| Not Participating in Battle | A Tiny bit of experience |
+----------------------------------------+--------------------------------+
| Taking Part in & Surviving a Battle | Good amount of experience |
+----------------------------------------+--------------------------------+
| Taking Part in & Finishing off Enemy | Highest amount of experience |
'----------------------------------------'--------------------------------'
- STATS EXPLANATION: Just like in any other Role Playing Game, there's a
handful of different stats. Each stat has a meaning. Here's an explanation:
.--------------------------.----------------------------------------------.
| STAT NAME | MEANING |
|--------------------------|----------------------------------------------|
| Strength | Strength determines how much damage you're |
| | able to do when using physical attacks and |
| | non-magical Bravura Skills. |
+--------------------------+----------------------------------------------+
| Constitution | Having high constitution lessens the damage |
| | your characters take from non-magical |
| | attacks. |
+--------------------------+----------------------------------------------+
| Agility | Determines the attack order. The character |
| | with the highest agility attacks first. |
+--------------------------+----------------------------------------------+
| Wisdom | High wisdom makes your magical attacks |
| | stronger. It also lessens the damage your |
| | characters take from magical attacks. |
'--------------------------'----------------------------------------------'
- STATUS AILMENTS: Sometimes, when you get attacked by enemies, your characters
will get affected in certain ways, usually in a negative way that somehow
lowers their stats. This is what Status Ailments are all about. There are
several kinds of ailments, but happily, all of them can be cured by drinking
potions, or waiting until it wears off by itself. The different kinds of
status ailments are as follows:
.--------------------------.----------------------------------------------.
| STATUS AILMENT NAME | EFFECT |
|--------------------------|----------------------------------------------|
| Poison | Halves ATK, inflicts damage each turn |
+--------------------------+----------------------------------------------+
| Paralysis | Prevents character from taking action |
+--------------------------+----------------------------------------------+
| Confusion | Causes character to attack friends (or foes) |
+--------------------------+----------------------------------------------+
| Oblivion | Makes character unable to use Bravura Skills |
+--------------------------+----------------------------------------------+
| Isolation | Prevents character for using Unity Skills |
'--------------------------'----------------------------------------------'
- ELEMENTS: After getting one of the most important, non-optional items in the
game, the second gemstone, Tatsuya's sword will gain elemental powers,
depending on what kind of second gemstone you choose (you get to pick one out
of four stones, more information in the walkthrough for the chapter named
'The False Highlanders) to take with you. After getting the second gemstone,
Tatsuya's sword will gain the elemental power whenever his BP has been maxed
out. The elemental power makes his sword stronger against certain types of
enemies, and makes the sword absorb incoming attacks, if they're of the same
element as the power his sword is carrying. For example, if your sword is
powered by the water gemstone, the sword will absorb incoming water attacks.
- BOSS BATTLES: Most boss battles in the game are pretty simple. Not because
they're very easy all the time, but because there's usually not a 'trick' to
winning. What's most important is to not forget leveling your characters. The
bosses will crush you easily if you've been skipping out on battles. I'll
give hints and tips for each boss battle in the game, but in the end, you
won't stand a chance if your characters are too weak.
===============================================================================
Prologue: Doorway to Destiny [wa01]
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boy & Girl in the Park
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After you've chosen to start a new game from the o--------------------------o
main menu, the game asks you to name the game's | ITEM CHECKLIST |
hero. His default name is Tatsuya, and that is | |
the name I'll use throughout this walkthrough. | Traveler's Mark.....[ ] |
Afterwards, you'll be asked to name the leading | |
lady. Her default name is Miki, which is also o--------------------------o
the name I will be using when referring to her in
the walkthrough. Miki & Tatsuya are sitting in a park. Tatsuya is playing on a
handheld game system. Miki gets a little upset, since Tatsuya promised her he'd
take the dog Kratos for a walk earlier this day. You'll get to respond to Miki
with one out of two answers. Throughout the game, there are several times when
you've got to choose between two answers, but the way this game was made, the
outcome is always the same, with the difference being in the conversations
between character only, and not in gameplay. So, tell Miki you want to play one
more level, or tell her you can't remember having promised her to walk the dog.
Miki leaves with the dog Kratos, but doesn't come back. Now Kratos returns and
makes Tatsuya follow him. On a sidewalk, the two of them find Miki lying on the
ground, fainted. What's happened to her? The screen blacks out. The next scene
takes place some days later, at the hospital Miki has been brought to. When
coming to visit his friend, Tatsuya overhears a conversation between a doctor
and Miki's father. The doctor says that Miki is suffering from an unknown
disease. Or, at least, they don't know what made her faint some days ago.
What's worse is that she hasn't woken up yet - she's in some kind of coma.
Tatsuya runs out of the hospital and throws his gaming system on the ground. A
frog, which also appeared in the park earlier, pops up behind him. It starts
speaking about how Miki will never wake up again unless someone acts. The frog
says that Tatsuya can make her wake up again, if he's willing to go on a long
journey. The frog tells him to rise if he cares about Miki. If you tell the
frog you're scared, the frog says that you can turn off the POWER on your game
system, but that's not what you'll want to do, so Rise from the ground instead.
Tatsuya received a [Traveler's Mark]. Now follow the frog into the magic gate
that appears in front of you. The adventure has begun!

Lau and the Cave of Trials [wa02]
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wayfinder's Hut - Waking Up
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tatsuya wakes up in a forest, close to a o---------------------------o
waterfall and a treehut. Speak to the green | ITEM CHECKLIST |
bird, which is a Goalfinch, that is standing | |
close to you. The Goalfinch vanishes, and | Mako Berry...........[ ] |
leaves a jug behind. Examine the jug to find a | Map of Vision........[ ] |
[Mako Berry]. Now head inside the treehut. In | |
here you will find a chest containing the [Map o---------------------------o
of Vision], so make sure to take that one with
you. There is no one inside the hut, so head outside again after getting
the Map of Vision. Now, go left from the treehut to reach the world map.
On the world map, you can press the L button to unfurl the Map of Vision you
found inside the hut. When viewing the Map of Vision, you can press the
Triangle button to switch between viewing icons for Towns & Dungeons, or view
both kinds of icons at the same time. Nice, isn't it?
Just north of the Wayfinder's Hut, which is where you woke up a moment ago,
there is a dungeon called Cave of Trials. Head over there right away.

Run right through the short entrance corridor to find a room with four huge
statues. The statues start talking, claiming to be some kind of guardians!
They will now ask you a row of questions, which determines the beginning stats
that Tatsuya will receive to get his journey started for real. What you want to
answer the guardians is up to you, but the answers that I gave them myself, are
marked with a [s] below. This answer sequence is quite straight-forward, but
lets you form your stats in a way you feel comfortable with yourself. Lucky :)
~ Give me unflinching bravery! [s]
~ Give me iron defenses!
~ Give me wisdom to survive the day!
~ Give me power to crush my enemies! [s]
~ Give me a strong body!
~ Give me a nimble body! [s]
~ Give me a resistant body! [s]
~ Give me a resistant mind!
After giving the four guardians your answers, tell them that you're satisfied
with your choices, if you really are. If not, tell them that you're not
satisfied to give the answer sequence another go. In the next room you'll meet
a man that calls himself Wayfinder Lau. Lau lets you know what stats you start
with. He also shows you two useful things - the Memory Sphere and the Healing
Glim. You can use them to save your game, and restore your health and magic.
The Memory Sphere, which is really a save point, is the blue-colored one, while
the Healing Point is the green one. If you touch Healing Points, you will not
only restore all of your HP, but also cure status ailments and max out your BP.
Try them both out right away, if you feel like doing so. Before leaving, Lau
gives you the [Traveler's Sword] as well as some [Leather Guards]. Both are
automatically equipped, so don't worry. Head right into the next room. Talk to
the Goalfinch in the middle of the room, then take a look around you. Notice
all the doors? There's lots of doors in here! Behind each door, there is a
statue. What you need to do, is to examine the statues that are not facing the
big room where the Goalfinch is standing. If you try moving a statue that is
already facing the correct direction, you will get attacked by enemies. The
statues that need to be moved are, if you haven' found out yourself, the ones
marked with an [X] on this room map:
o---------------------------------------------------------------------o
| |
| +----------------- Door ------------------------+ |

| | | |
| | | |
| [ ] [X] |
| +----------------- Door ------------------------+ |
| |
| |
o---------------------------------------------------------------------o

Once you've moved all the correct statues, as explained above, the door in the
northern end of the room, behind the Goalfinch, will open up. There's a statue
behind that door. Examine it to have it warp you back to the Wayfinder's Hut.
Congratulations, you passed the test that the Wayfinder made for you. Great!
Wayfinder Lau is here now, and explains that this world is called 'Vision' and
was crafted by the great Goddess of Destiny.
Tatsuya is one of many Travelers that has come to this world in order to get
his wish granted. Lau says that the next thing Tatsuya has to do is to make his
way to the Tower of Destiny! To each Traveler who arrives there, the Goddess
grants a single wish. But, you can't simply go there and demand the wishes to
be granted. No, sir, you can't.
Lau continues to explain that there are five small holes in the sword that
Tatsuya got earlier. These holes have to be filled with five gemstones. Once
the holes have been filled, the sword will evolve into the Demon's Bane, and
only the Demon's Bane can open the path to the Tower of Destiny. That's all for
today; Lau lets Tatsuya sleep in his hut for one night. As a parting gift, Lau
gives you [Lau's Lunch] as well as three [Mako Berries]. Talkative as the old
man is, he says that for each gemstone Tatsuya finds, he will be able to go
back to his own world once, and one time only. But, lets think about that
later, shall we? As for now, we need to go to a place named Town of Lanka.

Lau warps you away from his hut, to a place where you can save and heal. Do
that, then run a little southwest to hear a girl's voice. Continue southwest to
find the girl, who is a.. hm.. catgirl. She's being attacked by monster
Gimblewolfs. The girl joins your party for the battle against the monsters. In
battle, you'll notice that this girl can, in addition to attacking with her
bow, use a Bravura skill named Healing Melody, which is used for restoring HP.
Start killing the monsters, and keep doing so until you hear Lau's voice
telling you to lift your sword and make it flash. Tatsuya does so, and the
monsters escape. The girl says her name is Yuno, and that she lives in the town
of Lanka, just outside the forest you're in right now. Yuno asks if Tatsuya is
a Traveler, since he acts so weird. Yuno says that Travelers aren't very
common, and that she thought they were big, with hairy chests, and not kids,
like the small-sizes Tatsuya.
Yuno laughs, and asks if Tatsuya wants to come with her to the inn her family
runs in the town of Lanka. Even if you hate catgirls, you can't refuse to
follow Yuno, so just play along for now. The game system now explains about
Bravura skills and BP, which is an abbreviation for Brave Power. Bravura
skills, like Yuno's Healing Melody, all cost BP to use, just like magic attacks
cost MP to use in games like Final Fantasy. You can save up BP by attacking
enemies. Dealing heavy damage, or damage in combos, earns you most BP.
Unfortunately for Tatsuya, he can't use any Bravura skills until he finds a
gemstone. Yahuuh ~
Once you're back in control again, backtrack to the Healing Point to restore
all of the HP you lost, if you did lose HP, during the battle a moment ago.
From now on, you will encounter enemies by walking around in areas like woods
and dungeons. Most battles are random encounters, and you don't actually see
the enemies before you're in battle. Make sure to fight a lot, as enemies often
drop items, and each time you win a battle, you earn experience points. Once
you have enough experience, you will level up, and get stronger!
Head northwest from the Healing Point to find two chests containing
[Glistenstone] and a [Jerky]. After getting those two items, head southwest to
find a path that has been blocked by a fallen tree. You can't use that path
now, so run southeast from the fallen tree instead. You'll find an exit in the
southeastern corner, but before heading in there, go north from the exit to
find a [Sniper's Bow]. This bow is stronger than the one Yuno already has, so
equip it on her. Once Yuno has got her hands on the new bow, exit in the
southeastern corner.
Welcome to the southern part of the forest. There are several paths that have
been blocked by fallen trees here, but if you head northeast from the entrance
you came from, you will find a small path that isn't blocked. The path leads to
a Healing Point and a Save Point. After saving and healing, continue right to
reach the world map. This time, you're far north from the Wayfinder's Hut.
Just take a look at the Map of Vision to see for yourself. First things first,
head directly west until you reach the river. There's a shack there. Access the
area with the shack.

tems, and [Sorcery Diagram 1]. There isn't anything else to do here right now,
so make your way over to Lanka Town, which is located just south of the forest.
On a sidenote, if you're worrying about the fact that the Sorcery Diagram
doesn't appear in any of the item menus yet, let me calm you by explaining
that you do have it, there is just not any way to use diagrams before you get

Yuno is eager to show you her home - the inn located close to the town
entrance - but first, let's find some items. There is [Gimblewolf Meat] in the
jar stationed behind the inn building's leftmost wall, and another of those
[Bravery Diagram 1] papers in a jar in the eastern part of town. From there,
make your way to the northeastern corner, where there are two barrels close to
each other. They contain [Glistenstone] and a [Mako Berry]. That's all there is
to collect in town for now, so go back to the entrance and head inside the inn
for a quick chat with Yuno's parents. Her mother is a catgirl - sorry if that
term offends someone - and her dad is a normal human male.
They're both very happy that Tatsuya saved their daughter, and tell Yuno to
show Tatsuya around town. Go outside of the inn and head directly right to find
the local Branch, which is the building with the Firewyrm emblem. The Branch
works as the office, or headquarters for a group of people called Highlanders.
Highlanders to a lot of tasks, one of which is keeping towns safe from
monsters. The leader of Lanka's branch, who is named Fraus, explains that
Highlanders are peacekeepers that are willing to do anything to keep the towns
scattered throughout the land safe for the citizens living there.
Fraus also says that the Highlanders have already taken care of all the fallen
trees that were blocking the paths in the forest, and that Yuno can go back
there later. You can leave the Branch now, as there isn't more to do here right
now. Your next destination is the Armory in the western part of town. There's a
Sword and a Shield on the armory's emblem. Yuno explains that you can buy
weapons and other equipment in armories, but Tatsuya doesn't have enough money
for something like that yet. Try heading back towards the inn to find someone
named Maree standing outside laughing her face off. Or, was it crying?
Anyhow, Maree is all over it because she lost an accessory somewhere in Lanka
Forest. Yuno offers to find the lost accessory, so head north out of town,
towards Lanka Forest.

the southeastern end of this part of the forest to find a chest containing a
[Fire Shard], then head all the way left, into the passage that leads to the
northern part of the forest.
Finding the accessory that Maree from the town lost in the forest is very easy.
The only thing you need to do is to run directly left from this part of the
forest's entrance. You'll find the ring on the ground, on a path that was
blocked earlier. [Maree's Lost Ring] is the accessory's name. From where you
found the ring, head southwest to find a tiny path leading east. Follow this
path to find a chest containing a [Sleeping Bag]. Sleeping bags are used for
healing all party members when walking on the world map. Northwest of where you
got the ring, there is a chest containing 30 tems. With the ring in your
inventory, let your feet bring you back to town again.

o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o
The owner of the ring, Maree, is waiting for you outside of the inn. She's so
happy to get her ring back that she gives Tatsuya the [Accessory Book]. The
accessory book is great, since it's able to hold diagram items you find
throughout the game. Using diagrams, you can produce your own accessories. At
the same time, you also get the [Craft Kit], which is also needed for producing
accessories. There doesn't seem to be any end to how many items you're going to
get from poor Maree, as she also hands you the [Life Diagram 1] and says that
you should go see her boyfriend in the general store.
Listen to her words, and go to the general store just northwest of Maree's
location. Before you head over to the store, access the pause menu by
pressing the Triangle button on your PSP. From there, choose the 'other'
option. You'll see that a new option named 'Books' has been added. Using this
option, you can keep track of what kind of accessories you are able to
make, and what materials you need to spend in order to produce the accessories.
Well then, go to the general store to see her boyfriend then. His name is
Yokug, and he knows a lot about accessory crafting. He says that it is also
possible to dismantle accessories in order to end up with the materials the
accessory was originally made from. So, if you find out that you've made an
accessory with a material you want back, you can just dismantle the accessory,
he says. Most materials are earned by killing monsters, by the way. To get
things started, Yokug gives you a [Green Snayleshell] and two [Fire Shards].
Just like the 'Books' option, 'Crafts' has now been added to the pause menu.
This is the option you have to access in order to produce and dismantle stuff!
o---------------------------o If you want to, you can try and craft an

| LANKA GENERAL STORE | battles you've won against the monsters in

| Camping Set.........100 | the diagram in order to produce accessories;
| | you also need the required materials listed
o---------------------------o on the diagram. Good luck! Once you're done
experimenting with Accessory Crafting, just
ignore the General Shop clerk. He doesn't really have anything interesting
for sale. At the same time, the amount of money you've been able to save up
this far isn't exactly overwhelming either. We are however going to spend the
small amount we have in the armory, which is located just right of the general
store where Maree's girlfriend preached about Accessory Crafting. Go there.
Since you'll want to have some strong o----------------------------o
equipment for your characters, sell some of | |
your Glistenstones at the armory. You should | LANKA ARMORY |
have several of them, since they often drop | |

Tatsuya, and shop the [Hide Bracer] for Yuno. | |

if you've followed this walkthrough from start.
Remember to equip the armor you just bought, then run back to Yuno's home - the
local inn near the town entrance. Dinner's ready, you know. Make sure you enjoy
the cute and embarrassing dinner scene. During this scene, Yono's old man
suggests for Tatsuya to go to Lyris, another town. Yuno wants to follow on the
journey, but her mother doesn't agree. Happily daddy allows his daughter to go.
After dinner, you'll be asked to save your progress, so make sure you do just
that, ok? The next morning, Yuno's daddy gives you a [Good Luck Charm], and
tells the two youngsters to cross the Grandera River and head west towards
Lyris. Now it's time to leave. At the town gates, Tatsuya tells Yuno that she's
similar to his friend Miki back in his own world, because they're both kinda
bossy, or kinda cute. As always, it's your choice what to answer. Either way,
the game continues after you've chosen your answer. Out on the world map again,
go directly west from town until you reach the river. Once you've done that,
head south to find a shack near the water. This shack is where Grandera River
Crossing holds its business. There's no point in waiting - go there now.

If you didn't go here earlier to collect items, make sure to examine the jars
around the shack before talking to the ferryman. The ferryman wants 10 tems for
carrying you over the river. Agree with him. A reasonable price. After
crossing, the ferryman gives you a [Net] & [Birdcage]. The ferryman says that
with these tools, Yuno and Tatsuya can start the craze which is Birdcatching.
He doesn't want to explain exactly what this is, but then, his friend Ben comes
around. Ben is a member of the organization SNOB (Social Network of Birdlovers)
and wants to show the two kids how they can catch birds. The basics are:
X Button - Swing your net
O Button - Scatter birdfeed
Square Button - Quit
The goal is to try and catch lots of birds before the time limit runs out. When
you feed birds, or Goalfinch, as they're named, they will grow in size.
However, if you feed them too much, they'll get too big for your net to
contain, so don't give them too much. Once the session is over, the birds
you've caught will fuse together into one bird. The sizes and colors of the
birds determine the fused bird's abilities. Now, walk around close to Ben to
initiate a Birdcatching session. Throw birdfeed and catch birds until the time
limit is out. Speak with Ben again. Now, he says that if you have a bird in
your inventory (pause menu -> other -> birdcage) other members of SNOB will
gladly trade items and weapons for your bird, depending on what type it is.
That's all for now - Ben takes you back to the River Crossing Shack. The
ferryman is still waiting, and this time he says that he wants the two of you
to try something called Birdbrawling, and sends you back to the woods to meet
up with someone named Kee Tarma. In a Birdbrawl, two parties let their birds
fight against each other. Just like in real battles, the one that doesn't have
any HP left is the one that loses. Secondly, if the time runs out, the
challenger is the loser - always. After the tutorial battle, Tarma gives you a
[Goalfinch Feather] and says that you can get many feathers by defeating other
SNOBs in Birdbrawl battles. With enough feathers, something good will happen.
Back at the River Crossing Shack, the ferryman has another gift for you, the
[Monster Album] which keeps track of all the monsters you have fought, and what
spoils they drop. Very useful when farming material.
Now that the ferryman has stopped talking, examine the jars around you to find
[Mako Berry], [Recovery Diagram 1], [Fruit of Bravery] & [Sleeping Bag]. Now
you're ready to leave the River Crossing, so head left out to the world map.

Lanka, we'll go item hunting in town before doing anything else. Directly

The local citizens are all worked up because a Highlander is about to make an
announcement about something. Listen to the announcement. Someone named Meladee
is the one speaking. She says that she has traveled to Lyris in order to
recruit new Highlanders! Cool! This is Tatsuya & Yuno's chance! There is one
problem though; only teams of three persons can apply for the position! Yuno
has already decided that another person has to join the party, but right now,
she doesn't know who that's going to be. While being in deep thoughts, Yuno
runs into someone named Utetta. Utetta says that one of the kids from Sakawa -
the town you visited a moment ago - has gone missing! Utetta is here to ask the
Highlanders for help in finding the kid. Typically, the one missing is Minos,
the poor waterkin boy you saw at the inn in Sakawa. He's escaped from his dad.
Can you see the Darbaba Building in the western end of town? Go in there to

| Sniper's Bow...........140 | a [Gleamstone]. Go back out of the General

| | Guards] & [Bronze Bracer]. Remember to equip
o------------------------------o them after shopping. Before leaving the
Armory, pick up [Immunity Diagram 3] and
a [Solvent] from the jars in the corners of the room. Yay for free items.
Since you're done shopping for now, go northeast from the Armory to find a
tavern with two entrances. Head inside one of the entrances to get inside the
tavern. In the lower right corner you will find a jar containing another hot
[Fire Stone], and in the upper right corner there is a [Heartglue] potion. The
last thing to do before leaving the city is to enter the Uptown inn just left
of the tavern. There's a jar with a [Jerky] in there, and of course, the owner
lets you save your game for free, if you feel like. Now, leave Lyris City and
head north, back to Sakawa Town. Godspeed, brave Traveler!

Town of Sakawa - Finding Out About Minos
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time to investigate and find out where that Waterkin boy Minos went off to.
Most townspeople don't know much, but Reskee, the little fellow in the
southwestern end of town, near the wooden platform, has overheard Minos talking
about going to a cave in order to find medicine for the sick elder of Sakawa
Village. Sounds like Minos cares for other people a lot. So, head into the
elder's house in the western end of the village. A creature named Kee Keema is
walking around there. He says that Minos's footprints have been spotted near
the Seaside Cave west of town. Keema and his gang tried to follow, but was
stopped by some kind of huge, scary monster! Kee Keema says that he's willing
to show the two kids the way to the cave, and joins your party as a guest.
Kee Keema has his own equipment by the way, so don't worry about that. Run to
the world map again now. One there, head southwest from Sakawa to find the
Seaside Cave that Minos went to before vanishing. Head inside if you dare.
What? Of course you have to dare, silly.

The enemies in this cave look pretty nasty, but fighting them is easy, just

and heal point close to each other. Save and heal, then continue west from the
save point to reach the next, deeper part of the cave. Getting scary here, eh?
To your big surprise, a huge crab is waiting in this room, and he's got Minos
and his dad Sogreth trapped. Watch the scene, then prepare for battle. Sogreth
takes Yuno's place in this battle, but I won't tell you why. Look yourself.

| |
| - General Info: Considering this a real boss battle isn't something I |

| completely normal monster. Use the Swish, Fillet Unity Skill whenever |
| it's Tatsuya or Kee Keema's turn, as this attack deals lots of damage. |
| As for Sogreth, he has a Bravura Skill named Focused Slash. Let him |

| hits the ground really quickly. Most likely before two minutes have |
| passed. Disappointing, in a good way. Kinda. |
| |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Kee Keema leaves after the battle, as he needs to do some package deliveries.
Minos is happy to have been saved from the crab, and gives Tatsuya the first
gemstone. Now, Tatsuya is able to start using Bravura skills, and learns the
one named Lightspark right away. Head right from the boss room now, to find the
path you used earlier flooded with water. However, a new path leading north
from the save point has now been unlocked, so walk on that one to find a
chest with [Bronze Guards], then continue east from the chest until Minos says
he's found another dead end filled with water. Tatsuya uses the gemstone to
break the stone wall here. Run through the hole in the wall to find a star-
shaped pattern on the ground. Out of the pattern, Wayfinder Lau's voice is
channeled in a entirely magic kind of way.
Lau says that when a Traveler finds a gem, he can return to his own world once.
When the Traveler hears the sound of bells though, he has to come back to the
world of Vision. If he doesn't return then, the Traveler will never see Vision,
or his own world again. Tatsuya steps into the pattern, and off he goes, back
to his own world - to the hospital where Miki is sleeping. After a second with
watching over Miki, he goes back to the world of Vision. Quick trip for sure.
Notice how you've now got the [Mirror of Truth] which is used to travel between
the two worlds? Pretty handy, but can't be used manually.
After joining up with Yuno and the others, head south from the star pattern to
arrive on the world map again. Run over to Sakawa, which is Minos's home. The
next day, the village elder thanks everyone for their efforts. He's especially
happy with Minos, since he found some tidewort medicine in the Seaside Cave.
At the end of the conversation with the elder, Sogreth says he's decided to
come with Tatsuya and Yuno on their journey! Nice! That's your third member!
Before leaving, the elder's adviser hands you the [Quest Book], which is a book
that keeps track of optional sidequests. 'On your way to Lyris now, you hear!

vines, so head downwards instead, since those stairs aren't blocked.

Now that you're down in the basement of the hospital, follow the corridor until
you see a small door leading south. Head inside to find 235 tems. Back in the
corridor again, continue right to find two other doors. The one leading south
does not contain anything, but the one leading north has a [Fruit of Agility]
inside. Head back to the corridor again now. You'll see that the corridor
itself splits into two paths. One leading north and one leading east.
First, follow along the eastern path first to find two small doors. Ignore the
one leading south, and head into the northern door to find a chest with a
[Tenderloin] inside. North of the chest there is a door that leads to the part
of the corridor you would have reached if you went along the north fork instead
of going east as you did. So, head north from the chest, then go one
room further north for a cut-scene.
An old woman and a masked man are talking about taking and giving orders in
here. Tatsuya & friends overhear their conversation. The masked man tried to
kill the woman with a flame skill, but hits your party instead, by mistake. The
masked man sees the gem in the sword that Tatsuya is carrying, and stops
thinking about finishing them off for some reason. He says that the monster
that the Branch were called here to fight is dwelling just ahead. Thanks for
the tip, scary man. After the masked dude has left, sprint left and enter the
small door leading south to find a Healing Point and a Save Point. Close to
them, there's a door leading north and one leading south. Head into
the northern one to find a [Sharpened Horn], then go into the southern one.
The monster you've been looking for is waiting in here. The people from the
Branch in Lyris are lying on the floor, fainted after fighting against the
monster. This is your chance to prove yourself! To battle!

| beat as he looks. There's not one target for each head either - only |
| one vulnerable target for the whole boss. To make the battle even |
| easier, the dragon only has standard, physical attacks that aren't |
| very strong. You might have to heal using Yuno's Healing Wind once |

Master Kyte from the Branch is still alive, but his mates are dead. Kyte says
that since Tatsuya and the others killed the monster, they're allowed to become
Highlanders. You'll receive some [Firewyrm Rings] from Kyte, then he dies. The
party now travels back to Lyris to tell the other Highlanders about what
happened at the hospital. That's it. No time to stop and cry over spilt milk.
Lets move on to the next chapter now.

Check your world map again. An icon for a border a bit southwest of Lyris has
appeared on the map. Head over to that border to check things out. Once you've
reached the border, make sure you save and heal using the two spheres near the
entrance. If you talk to the people here, you'll get to hear about two bandits
who have been causing problems for people crossing the border. The border guard
lets you through the gate after Yuno has flashed the Firewyrm Rings that prove
that you're Novice Highlanders. To everyone's big surprise, some guards are
waiting on the other side of the gate. The guards seize Tatsuya & friends.
Turns out some bandits have been tricking people, telling them they were
Highlanders and showing them Firewyrm Rings. No one is safe in this world!
After some verbal fighting, Kee Keema comes driving in a wagon. He recognizes
Tatsuya's party from earlier, and introduces you to Wataru & Meena. Wataru is
another Traveler like Tatsuya, and Meena is a catgirl. After some talking, the
chief of the guards, Leynart, seems to be a reasonable man, and doesn't think
that Sogreth and Yuno are the real culprits. However, until he has cleared
their names, he'll have to keep you here, he says. Too bad, sir! Since Yuno and
Sogreth are the only suspects, Tatsuya is allowed to leave the place if he
wants to. The plan Tatsuya comes up with it following Wataru and Meena, and
trying to catch the real bandits in order to clear his friends' name.
Wataru and Meena now join your party as guests, while Sogreth and Yuno stay
behind at the Bog-Sasayan Border. Aw, that has to be boring for them.
Before leaving the border, head back to the main gate. You'll see three jars on
the ground. They contain [Lightning Stone], [Tenderloin] & [Fruit of Bravery].
Run straight left from the three jars to find another one. This jar contains
the [Bravery Diagram 2]. After getting all the items, head back north to the
world map. On the world map, head straight east from the border for a cut-
scene. During the scene you'll see the real bandits - a catkin girl and a
waterkin robbing a merchant before continuing east. If you check your map,
you'll see that a bandit hideout has appeared on the map, southeast of your
current location. That's your destination, so run over there.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bandit Hideout
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o----------------------------o The enemies here are humans, and should not be

o----------------------------o back south to where you came from, go east when
you reach a small fork just before the main
path. The chest you'll run into has a [Defense Diagram 1] inside. Back at the
beginning of the area, follow the path northwest this time, instead of going
north. The path splits into many smaller parts just ahead, but there's no
treasure to get by walking to the end of any of 'em, so just keep on following
the main path northwest in order to reach the next area.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

pile of leaf on the ground to find a [Fruit of | ITEM CHECKLIST |

another one, but don't examine is, as you'll | Fruit of Strength.....[ ] |
just fall into a hole. Back at the main path, | Panic Powder..........[ ] |
go west this time, then keep on running | Antivenom.............[ ] |
straight to find a Healing Point accompanied | Tenderloin............[ ] |

we? Sprint east from the save point for a chest | Jerky x 3.............[ ] |
containing [Panic Powder], and ignore the leaf | Tenderloin x 3........[ ] |
pile nearby, since it's just covering another | Bandit Spellrock......[ ] |
hole. Back at the save point, start making your | |
way north along the mountain path. Ah, Nature :) o----------------------------o
When the path once again splits, take your party east, as you can't get the
chest that's at the end of the northern part yet. You'll find four piles of
leaf in a big square-formed area. There's two items and two holes. In the lower
right pile there is a [Antiventom], and in the upper left pile there is a
[Tenderloin]. The two other ones are only hiding nasty holes.
Sprint east from the four leaf piles. When you reach a fork, go east for
another chest and a single pile of leaf. The leaves are hiding a cozy
[Sleeping Bag], while the chest contains a whooping 933 tems. Walk back to the
last fork and head north this time around. You'll run into a Save Point and a
Healing Point, as well as a passage leading east. Save, heal, and go east to
find the two bandits. They're named Dusty and Mari.

| pretty much identical to what Yuno & Sogreth act like in battle. Same |
| moves and everything. Watch out for Mari's Sniper skill - heal using |
| Meena's Love Song if needed - and concentrate all of your Bravura |
| Skills on taking down Mari first, since without her, there is no |
| one left to heal the enemy party. |
| |
| With Mari beaten senseless, only Dusty is left standing, and he has |
| no means to heal himself. Don't take it easy however. Most of his |
| attacks are normal melee attacks, but now and then, he'll use his |
| Roundhouse axe attack, and this attack is pretty strong. So, don't |
| forget about healing just because Mari has been defeated. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
When you thought everything was fine after defeating the bandits, another
couple of thieves appear. Just like Dusty & Mari, they're a kitkin girl and a
waterkin male. You'll have to fight them. The battle is identic to the one you
just got through, so you shouldn't have too many problems in beating them.

'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Well, after all you ended up getting through three battles against three
couples of bandits. Not bad at all, not bad at all. Your party traps the
bandits, and waits for Leynart from the military to arrive. Leynart says that
Tatsuya & friends may return to the border and pick up Yuno and Sogreth
whenever they wish now, since their names have been cleared. Save your progress
when the game asks you to. Nice service, that auto-save feature. Back at the
border, Leynart gives you a gift from the people that were robbed by the
bandits you just took care of. There's four gems in the bag, but you only get
to keep one of them. Your sword will get aligned to one element depending on
what stone you choose. It's your choice:
Red Gem - Fire Element
Blue - Ice Element
Purple - Lightning Element
Green - Wind Element
Choose the gem you want to have. I won't force you to get any particular one,
so choose yourself. This gem will not only align Tatsuya's sword to the element
of the gem, but it also acts as a proper Gemstone, so now you have two of them.
Suddenly, another of those star-shaped patterns pop up on the border gate.
Tatsuya runs over to the pattern and warps back to his own world. Back at the
hospital, a mysterious voice tells Tatsuya that a Traveler named Rei is the one
that made Miki fall into slumber. Rei is currently traveling through Vision,
just like Tatsuya and his friends are. And now, back we go to Vision and a new
chapter of this strange game.

South of the border there is a location on your map named Vahadina. Run over
there to find out that it's a desert outpost, similar to a small town. First,
head over to the northeastern part of town to meet Mamanmu, the Chairman of
SNOB. He transforms Tatsuya's old bird net into a [Beefed-up Net]. Speak with
him again to receive the [Bird Diagram 1]. The old man explains that more bird
diagrams can be earned by defeating other SNOBs in birdbrawls.
Lets start collecting items from the various jars scattered around the outpost.
There's some [Wakewater] just right of the outpost entrance, a [Smokescreen]
close to Mamanmu, the old SNOB, and a [Camping Set] in the northeastern end of
town, close to a woman named Sasha. The next jar is located just left of Sasha,
outside the Darbaba Post building. It contains the useful [Speed Diagram 2].
There's still a jar left in the west end of town, outside the Armory,
containing a [Immunity Diagram 7]. Now it's time to see what's going on in the
outpost's branch, right of the entrance.
o------------------------------o The only person left in the branch is a man
| | named Solbe. He isn't a Highlander, but knows
| VAHADINA ARMORY | where the Highlanders of the outpost are
| | right now: they've gone missing after heading
| Greatbow...............900 | into the nearby desert ruins. He suggests
| Bardiche..............1050 | seeing Cecilia, a girl at the Darbaba Post

Tatsuya to talk to her once he's ready to go.
Before that, we need some weapons, so head to the armory on your left side. All
of the party members we have with us right now need new weapons, and armor too.
You'll want to buy one of each item the o------------------------------o
armory is selling. In all, that makes one of | |
each following item: [Greatbow] & [Iron | VAHADINA GENERAL STORE |

Drive straight east from the outpost for a | |
cut-scene. Yuno's good luck charm has, for o------------------------------o
some reason, started flashing. Sogreth thinks
this means there's a gemstone nearby. Suddenly, Sogreth gets to see something
lying on the ground, glowing. It's not a gemstone, but a firewyrm band, the
sign that Highlanders carry with them. The band turns out to be Cecilia's
sister's band, [Meladee's Band]. Before anyone realizes what's happening, your
party gets sucked into a pool of quicksand. You end up below the ground, in
some kind of ancient ruins. Really scary, but very interesting.

There's only one path to follow at the beginning, so keep going until you find
Meladee, trapped by some monsters. There's only three of them, so kick their
butts right away, and save Meladee. She joins your party. Since you now have
four party members, you can use the Formation option in the pause menu to
decide your battle lineup. Only three people may fight at the same time.
Continue running through the corridor until the path splits into one path
leading north, and one on your right. Take the right one first to find a chest
containing [Immunity Diagram 9], then take the one leading north. Smart as Yuno
is, she manages to press a button that makes Tatsuya fall down into a trap.
Down here, separated from the others, Tatsuya meets Mitsuru, another Traveler.
The two of them decide to work together on getting out of here. Once in
control, you'll notice that there's a vendor down here as well. He's selling
both weapons and general items, so buy some healing items from him if you're
low on those. Why? Because neither Tatsuya or Mitsuru have healing spells.
The vendor is also selling [Bloom of Tassets], a piece of armor that Meladee
can use. If you plan of fighting using her, buy this armor piece, okay?
After buying your stuff and things, head east from the vendor to find a square-
formed room with a chest. It contains a [Heartglue] item. Now go south from the
vendor to find a place where you can heal and save. Make your way south into a
room with three stone pillars. Exit this room south to find another pillar
room. In the lower left corner of that room there is a [Life Diagram 2]. Go
back to the room with three pillars, and exit that room east this time. Keep on
following the only that from here north, until you find a chest with an
[Aquamite] inside. Run west from this chest, and head north at the first fork.
You'll find a chest containing a [Tenderloin] close to a set of stairs. Take
the item, then go downstairs. At the bottom, there are two chests. One
containing [Antivenom], and one with some [Wakewater]. Make sure you heal using
the Healing Point down here before running up the stairs again.
Back upstairs, head west at the fork you went north to get to the stairs at
earlier. By heading west you will find a room with some kind of device where a
code has to be entered. The code is 'AGARA BELA NEM'. After entering the code,
a set of stairs appear in front of you. Run to the top, brave youths. Mitsuru
leaves the party once you've gotten to the top of the stairs, and Tatsuya meets
Sogreth and the others again. Hooray for reuniting with old friends.
Use the save and healing points near the top of the stairs you just ran to the
top of, then run east from there. You'll see a corridor with dirty walls
leading east, and one normal corridor leading south. Take the south path first
for some [Bugswatters], a weapon Meladee can use. Now backtrack a little and
head east on the path with the dirty walls.

'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
The third gemstone is hidden within the emmet's body, and Tatsuya finds it.
Now, Tatsuya learns to use a handful of magic spells: Heal, Return and Exit.
Since he's now got a new gemstone, Tatsuya goes back to Miki's hospital. There,
he meets the Traveler Rei. Seems like Rei is the masked man you saw at the
hospital back in the world of Vision. Unfortunately for Tatsuya, he has to go
back to Vision right away. No time to chat with Rei. Back in Vision, Meladee
says she wants to follow Tatsuya on his adventures, and awards the whole party
with ranks as true Highlanders, not just Novice Highlanders. So yup, one
[Firewyrm Band] to each party member. True Highlanders can go and report to all
Highlander Branches and receive bounties, according to the number of monsters
they've slain. That's a good deal, so check it out later on.
Also note that from now on, whenever you travel on the world map, you'll be
driving the wagon instead of walking around on foot. This makes it much easier
and quicker to travel from town to town. In addition Tatsuya has also learned
a healing spell, and a skill that lets you exit any dungeon, by choosing 'Exit'
from Tatsuya's Bravura Skill menu.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Revisiting Desert Ruins - 1F (optional)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Desert Ruins have now appeared on the world map, in the middle of the
desert. By entering the ruins from the map, you will arrive at Floor 1, or 1F,
as described in the game itself. On Floor 1, you will find some stairs leading
down to the floor with the secret trap switch, and a path leading southwest.
Ignore the stairs and follow this path instead. First, ignore all the forks,
and go southwest until you reach a dead end with a chest. Inside you will find
a [Fruit of Vitality]. After getting the fruit, kill the chest, since it lives.
Run east at the fork close from the chest to find a locked door with the
inscription 'Take The Sand Out of Your Clogs' on. Next, run over to the western
part of the area for another locked door saying 'To Enter the Forest, Ease Over
the Seas'. Sprint to the southwestern corner now, where you'll find a locked
door with the inscription 'Clear Away Every Cloud' on. Move directly east from
this door, and go north at the first fork to find a chest containing a
[Silvervold] stone. At the fork again, go southeast this time, and when you
find the passage in the southeastern end leading to a new area, ignore it and
head directly north for a chest with 645 tems in. Right now, you can't do
anything more in here, but after examining the door that said to take the sand
out of your clogs, you can start the 'Riddle From The Past' sidequest. Make
sure you examine the other doors as well as there are sidequests for those too.
Refer to the sidequests section if you want to do this. If you don't want to
spend time on it right now, just continue on with the main walkthrough in the
paragraph below this one. Whatever suits you best is fine.

Vision Cataclysm [wa08]
===============================================================================
East of the Emmet Colony, there is a town named Gasara. Just take a look at the
world map, and you'll see it at once. Drive through the desert, towards Gasara.
At the end of the desert, the scenery changes; suddenly you're in a forest,
instead of the sandy desert from a moment ago. This place is named Foresta
Morgana. The spellrocks that the bosses in the game drop are used to get
through a set of stones that are blocking the paths in the forest. There's many
chests in here, but getting them all isn't possible right now, since you don't
have all the claw spellrocks. Refer to the section I've dedicated to Foresta
Morgana in this walkthrough if you want to get some items right now, then,
afterwards, exit the woods and head all the way east through the desert again.
This time, you won't end up in Foresta Morgana by going straight towards the
town of Gasara, so don't worry. If you're wondering about how to get back to
Foresta Morgana later on, I can tell you that the forest usually appears in the
northeastern part of the desert, but sometimes, at other locations in the
desert. It's a magic forest after all, but it never appears outside of the
hot desert. Anyway, head over to Gasara now.

wants to catch up on stuff with her friend, and leaves the party for the time
being. Head outside of the Branch, and go left towards the restaurant for a
short cut-scene where two workers and a short fellow with green hair are
talking to each other about wild monsters. The workers leave, and the green-
haired person introduces himself as Dr. Ropple. Ropple follows your party back
to the Branch. Back there, Kutz says that the Branch has received information
about a monster being on the loose in an underground lake near town.
After some additional chatting, everyone joins up with your party. Tatsuya,

The cave is pretty dark, but you won't have any problems seeing the path in
front of you. Follow it, and go left when it splits the first time, to find a
chest containing [Fruit of Wisdom]. Go back to the fork and head right this
time. The next time the path splits, go left first for a [Immunity Diagram 4],
then continue right afterwards. Another fork is waiting just ahead. This time,
run right first for a 298 tems, then proceed left afterwards to find a passage
leading to the next area and a cut-scene.
Just like in the first area, the path splits pretty quickly. Follow it left
first to end up near a chest containing the [Scalepeelers], Twinblades that you
should let Meladee equip right away. Run back and go right at the fork this
time. A statue is blocking the path, but you can just run around it to find a
save and healing point. Use them, then continue east to reach the next area.
A chest is waiting for you near the entrance of this area. Open it to get some
fresh [Crystal Water]. Go northeast from this chest to find another one
containing 530 tems, and one containing [Experience Diagram 1] just south of
the second chest. Return to the first chest again, and go west from there. Keep
running until you see another chest on your right side. Open it for a
[Tenderloin], then head southwest from the chest to find some [Tears].
Now it's time to return to the previous chest (the tenderloin one) and go east.
Run south at the next fork to find yet another chest containing 149 tems.
Process east at the fork after getting the tems, to reach another area. The
first thing that happens in there, is the initiation of another boss battle.

| BOSS BATTLE: Nero | TATSUYA LVL: 27 | SPOILS: [Tentacle Spellrock]|
|----------------------------'-----------------| [Tentacle] |
| TO STEAL: Corrosive '-----------------------------|
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Meladee, Kutz |
| |
| - General Info: Nero isn't just one boss - it's two. There's two |
| octopus enemies, and both of them have to be killed. It would be |
| foolish to attack both of them at the same time, so start attacking |
| the right octopus. I recommend using Kutz's 'Deadly Vibes' skill, |
| as it's very, very effective against Nero. |
| |
| Make sure you're properly leveled before the battle, and use Yuno or |
| Meladee to heal the others throughout the whole battle. |
| As long as you use Deadly Vibes, and supply with other Bravura Skills |
| from the other non-healing party member, the battle is pretty easy. |
| |
| If you're not properly leveled, or forgot to put Kutz in your battle |
| lineup, the battle might be harder, as Nero can regenerate his |
| tentacles if you're not able to deal enough damage. So, go Kutz! |
| Once the first octopus is dead, kill the second one. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Everyone goes back to Gasara after the battle, and Kutz leaves the party.
Ropple, however, decides to keep following you for a while. End of chapter.

Nacht-Arikita Border
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leave Gasara and start driving northeast. o-----------------------------o
You'll reach the Nacht-Arikita Border pretty | ITEM CHECKLIST |
quickly. That's your destination, you see. The | |
guards at the border say that because of a | Fruit of Wisdom........[ ] |
landslide, no one can pass right now. There is | Recall Juice...........[ ] |
however a cave to the south that people can | Fortune Diagram 2......[ ] |
walk through instead of using the proper | Bravery Diagram 3......[ ] |
border. Before starting to search for the | |
cave, lets collect the items hidden in the o-----------------------------o
jars at the border. In the eastern end of the
area, there is a [Fruit of Wisdom], and near the border gate itself there is a
[Recall Juice]. Very close to the juice, the two final items of this are can be
found: [Fortune Diagram 2] & [Bravery Diagram 3]. Now leave the border again.
To find the cave you're looking for, drive southeast from the border until you
find a wooden sign. From the sign's location, head north until you reach the
cave. That wasn't too hard, was it? Well, head inside the cave now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Border Cavern
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o-----------------------------o Another cave with lots of different paths.
| ITEM CHECKLIST | Ignore the one going south from the entrance,
| | as it only leads to some boulders blocking the

| Silver Spaulders.......[ ] | to find a SNOB and a chest. Open the chest to
| | get a [Fruit of Constitution]. Spring
o-----------------------------o southeast from the chest and the SNOB. When
you reach a fork, go west. You'll end up in a
circle-formed room with a chest containing 1,529 tems. After taking the cash,
return to the SNOB, and go northwest to find a passage leading to the next
area. Go there right now for a cut-scene.
There's a huge gate here. Ropple thinks that someone built it to keep something
locked in here. Turns out Meladee doesn't want anyone to open the gate right
now, so you can't do it after all. Oh well, run directly southeast from the
magic gate in order to find yet another new area.
Run left at the beginning, and follow the path until you find a chest. It
contains a good weapon for Yuno, the [Silver Longbow]. Now run back, and head
right at the beginning of the area this time. You'll find yet another fork.
Take the path leading left to find two chests. They contain a [Wizard's Hat]
and some [Silver Spaulders]. Make sure to equip them on Sogreth and Ropple,
then head right at the fork afterwards, to find a save/healing point. Just
right of the save point, you'll reach the world map again. Done with the cave.
Northwest of the cave, you'll find the town named Paulta. Drive there.

o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o
Something seems to be terribly wrong here in Paulta; no one talks back when you
approach them - not even the innkeeper. But let's worry about that later, and
collect items while we can. You'll find [Silvervold] just northeast of the town
entrance, [Sorcery Diagram 3] can be found just northeast of the Silvermold
item, and a [Fruit of Constitution] is hidden in a jar just right of the town
entrance. Now, you see the bed sign on the building near the town entrance,
right? Behind this sign, almost impossible to see, there is a jar containing
[Immunity Diagram 8]. Also, in the northeastern end of town, not hidden, there
is a jar with a [Camping Set] in.
After grabbing the items, enter the local Branch. The Branch boss
seems to be unable to talk as well. Just before the party is about to leave the
Branch, a man named Chakka comes running into the building, saying he's the
chief of the coal miners association in Paulta. He has no idea why people don't
talk either. Ropple comes up with the idea that he can make the people talk
again if he gets an item from a place named Tearsheaven. Tearsheaven is located
northeast of Paulta, so start driving there when you're ready.

It contains [Protective Faulds]. Continue
south, go west at the first fork and grab the [Sage's Staff], then continue
further south to reach the next area. At the beginning of the next area, there
are two different paths for you to choose from. Follow the one leading west
first to get 2,700 tems! Watch out tough, as the chest comes to live and
attacks you after you grab the cash. Return to the entrance of this area, and
go south this time. Keep on following this path until you reach the next area
in the northwestern corner.
A healing point and a saving point can be found a little north of the beginning
of this area. Left of the points, there is a chest with a [Strength Diagram 3]
inside. Northwest of the save point there is another chest with a
[Horn of Bravery]. Now exit the area directly north of the save point. Leynart
joins you in here, after a short cut-scene. Without spoiling anything, I'll
just continue directly to covering the boss battle right away.

|----------------------------'-----------------| [Tears] |
| TO STEAL: Swig of Sanity '-----------------------------|
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Leynart, Meladee |
| |
| - General Info: Start off by increasing your party's DEF by using |
| Leynart's Protection skill. Continue by attacking Alchemon using |
| Tatsuya's Triple Thrust and Leynart's EX Storm skill. They're both |
| quite effective. Meladee should heal the others, and when its not |
| needed, let her attack using whatever skill you feel like using. |
| Alchemon will focus on first lowering your BP stats, then attacking |
| using his melee weapon. When he's close to dying, he might use his |
| Omnidrain move, which drains close to all of your BP. |
| When, or if this happens, continue by using Normal attacks, and heal |
| by eating items. Continue doing so until you win. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Now that you've killed Alchemon, Leynart explains that he's quit being a knight
now, for personal reasons. Since the problem in the swamp has been solved, the
major back in town gives you the [Liquid Lament] you need in order to make the
people back in Paulta start talking again. After getting the Lament, head over
to the northern part of town to see Leynart walking into a house he's rented.
Turns out Leynart has brought a young lady with him into the house. The woman's
name is Sasha, but she can't remember anything. Sasha is Leynart's wife, but
can't remember that either. After some talking, Leynart re-joins your party!
If you plan on using Leynart in battle, head south through the borders cavern
again, making your way through the desert and back to Vahadina. Speak with
Sasha's mom in the northeastern part of town in order to learn MIND's EYE,
his Bravesoul move. Afterwards, head back to Paulta in order to cure all the
people that suddenly went speechless earlier.

regained the ability to speak again now. The general store and armory in the
middle of town have been re-opened as well. The armory has a selection of

leading to a chest with a [Recall Juice] inside. Run west from the chest to
find a passage leading to the next area - 2nd Strata. Another cart track starts
in the second area. Follow it south at the first fork to find a chest. This one
contains [Paralyze Powder]. Run back to the fork and head left. When the path
splits again, go right for some [Tears], then go back and run left.
The path leads in one direction, and in the end, you'll end up in the
southeastern corner of the room, where there is a passage. Go in there.
This area is very straight-forward. Just keep following the only path you see
until you find a save and healing point. First go northwest from the save point
to find a [Gildergold] stone in a chest. Go a little south, then west from the
save point for another chest with a [Defense Diagram 3] inside, then head
directly south to the next area, after saving of course. Welcome to 4th Strata.
There's a path leading north from the entrance of 4th Strata. Follow that path
if you want the [Goddess's Rain], a potion item. Go south from the entrance
now, and follow the path until you find a chest containing [Crystal Light].
Continue east from this chest for another healing/saving point. West of the
save point you'll find the [Experience Diagram 2], so that that, then go north.
A dead man is lying on the path in front of you, burned to crisp. Ignore him
and continue running north for a cut-scene.
It looks like something has broken into the mine from the rock wall, as
everything seems pretty carved out here. Run into the carved-out hole.
Sprint past all the dead men, and watch the scene with Rei and the dragon.
After the scene, it's time for another boss battle.

| BOSS BATTLE: Kashin Kogi | TATSUYA LVL: 36 | SPOILS: [Tangret] |
|----------------------------'-----------------| [Tourmand] |
| TO STEAL: Mind Caustic | [Crystal Lightning] |
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Meladee, Ropple | [Wizard Spellrock] |
| '-----------------------------|
| |
| - First of all, make sure you have Ropple in your battle lineup, as his |
| magic Bravura Skills make the battle much easier. Start by killing |
| Kashin's two servants as quickly as possible. If he summons one of them |
| again, take him/her out right away. Now that the servants are gone, |
| start attacking Kashin with Bravura Skills. After a while, Kashin |
| will use his 'Null Physical Damage' move, making himself invincible |
| against normal attacks. This is where Ropple comes into the picture. |
| |
| While constantly healing the others using Meladee, let Ropple use |
| his EX Bravura Skills, as they deal damage to Kashin, even after he's |
| used the Null Damage move. You can also use most Unity Skills against |
| Kashin. Tatsuya's 'Holy Blade' is a good one that is pretty effective. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Use the save point in the boss room, then let the dragon take you away. Volgh,
the dragon, takes you to the dragon council which is being lead by The Wyrmking
himself. The dragon Vyne gives Tatsuya the fourth gemstone now. The star sigil
which lets Tatsuya go back to his own world appears behind The Wyrmking's
throne, so run over there to get back to Miki's hospital. Rei is already there,
standing over Miki's bed. In order to stop Rei from killing Miki, fight him.
Start attacking him, and keep on fighting until the battle is interrupted. Rei
has to go back to the World of Vision, and runs away. Tatsuya goes back too.
Back at the Dragon Council, The Wyrmking gives Tatsuya his Bravesoul move, the
INDOMITABLE SPIRIT, which will automatically revive Tatsuya after getting
knocked out -- occasionally. The dragon Vyne now joins you. You can fly on the
world map by summoning Vyne from the 'other' option, or summon him in battle
from Tatsuya's Bravura Skill menu. This is where chapter eight ends.

Kutz meets you at the entrance, dressed as a religious preacher. She says that
Father Diamon of the cathedral has started a rebellion. After dressing up in

Down here, go left into a new area to meet some Black Vespids. Kill 'em off.
Continue southwest into a corridor after killing the vespids. At the first
fork, run right to find a room with a [Mind Caustic], then go back to the fork
and head southwest this time. The path is pretty long, so keep on following it
past some unreachable rooms until you're in a room with two benches.
In the room with the two benches, go south to find a square-formed room. First
head south out of this room for a [Fruit of Constitution], then go west to find
a room with lots of useless stone squares. Head south out of this room to find
a chest containing [Strength Diagram 4]. Now go north from the room with the
stone squares. You'll find a save and healing point, thankfully. Save and heal
your party members. Go west from the save point, then head south for some
[Forget Powder]. Afterwards, return to the save point and go north into the
passage there. You'll end up in a new area which is called the southern part of
the Cathedral, although, i wouldn't call it that, since we just went north.
Anyway, now that you're in the 'southern' part of the Cathedral, run directly
west from the entrance. You will end up in a square-formed room with a chest
in the middle. The chest contains a [Gildergold] stone. Yahuuh for valuable
stuff. Go back to the entrance, and go northeast this time, into a passage.
As fun as it might sound, you're now in the 'Eastern' part of the Cathedral.
According to the game itself, that is.
Sprint a tiny bit northeast to find a huge room with one path leading left and
another one leading right. Follow the left one into a room with some stone
squares, then go south. Open the chest you run into for a [Fruit of Bravery].
Now go back to the huge room with two paths. This time, head north from there
to find another chest containing 1,824 tems. Back in the room with two paths,
go east this time, then sprint south. You'll see a passage leading south, and a
path leading right. Ignore the path leading right. Go south instead.
This room is pretty dark, and there are stone pillars on all sides. Run
directly right to reach another save and healing point. Use them, then head up
the stairs just right of the save and healing point. Time for a cut-scene.
Also, phew, writing this is getting pretty tough, you know :P
Father Diamon has teamed up with Rei, but they're not very friendly with each
other. Watch how Rei summons Volgh, who has no choice but to listen to what Rei
commands him to do, then prepare for battle.

[Silvervold]. Now run back to where the path split, and head west this time.
You'll meet a SNOB here. Battle him if you want to, then exit south. You're now
back at the beginning of the level, so just run up the stairs on your right
side to get back to Lyris. Good work. Get back to the world map now. Fly north
to Triankha Hospital, and go inside.

Make your way down to the bottom of the hospital, where you fought a boss at
the beginning of the game. There's a save point and a healing point down there.
Just left of those, a new passage has appeared. Head in there, and run
down the stairs in the next room. You'll reach a fork pretty soon. Go north
first to find two doors. Head into the left one to find a chest with 1,467
tems. The door leading right doesn't lead to any treasure. So, back at the
fork, go east this time, and head inside the lonesome door you'll run into.
Grab the [Lodestar Spaulders] from the chest in here, and let Sogreth equip
them. Back at the fork again, run southwest this time.
After running southwest at the first fork, you'll find another fork. One path
leads left, and one further southwest. Follow the left one to find four doors.
You can get a [Nebula Shield] and the [Sorcery Diagram 4]. Just look at the map
below to find out what doors they're behind. After getting those two items,
head inside 'Room 3' and examine the mirror in there to Warp away.

| defensive spells on himself. So, target Volg with all of your characters |
| to take him down quickly. Novaspark when Tatsuya attacks, Inner Strength |
| and Mindbender when it's Sogreth's turn, and normal attacks plus healing |
| when using Meladee. Make sure all of your characters have more than |
| half of their max HP at all times, since Volgh will unleash a very |
| powerful attack just before he's defeated. |
| |
| Once Volgh has been taken down, use Meladee's Zed Heal in order to get |
| everyone back to perfect health. From now on, attack Rei with |
| Tatsuya's Triple Thrust and Sogreth's Nutcracker move. Meladee will |
| be used for healing. Rei has surprisingly little HP, so if you survived |
| Volgh, he won't be a problem at all. |

| |
| - Firstly, if you're low on health, use Zed Heal to fix that problem. |
| In his Grandwizard form, Rei hasn't changed his attacks a lot, so you'll |
| be fighting the same way as you did in the previous battle. Triple |
| Thrust, Nutcracker and Zed Heal will be what you'll rely on. |
| When he's close to losing the battle, Rei uses his Rivalbinder move. |
| This makes him bind all of your party members to the ground, stealing |
| one turn, and attacking you again. Because of this, make sure you |
| don't forget healing - all the time. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Something goes terribly wrong after the battle. This is unavoidable by the way.
You'll have to escape, but don't worry, it happens automatically.
===============================================================================
King of the Demons [wa11]
===============================================================================
o----------------------------o Your party has warped back to the Swamp of
| ITEM CHECKLIST | Grief when you get control over them again.
| | Wayfinder Lau suddenly appears. Haven't seen
| Map of The Dark.......[ ] | that old man for ages, have we!? Lau suggests
| | that Tatsuya and his party try and defeat the
o----------------------------o Demon King and stop the demon invasion.
A weird purple circle appears on the ground
after Lau has left the place. These purple circles are called Demonkin
Wormholes and are used for finding treasure chests that have been hidden within
the various dungeons and levels found throughout the whole game.
I'm sure you've seen chests you haven't been able to get. Now's your chance.
So, lets do some backtracking to get all the treasure chests! Or, you can, if
you want to. Just look at the Demonkin Wormhole section below the main
walkthrough, if you fancy. Do however note that some of the equipment you find
(called Dark Arms in the game) have effects that are negative for the ones
equipping them. Make sure to read each item's description before deciding to
use them in battle. Whatever suits you best.
When you've collected items from the Wormholes, make your way to the Border
Cave, east of the Nacht-Arikita Border. In the middle of the cave, the mystical
gate you found last time you was here will be opened. You'll have to slay a
gang of demons before entering though, so take them on when they attack.
After killing all the demons that were guarding the gate, you'll get the
[Map of the Dark], which is quite simple a world map over The Dark, the
continent you'll reach by walking inside the gate. You don't have anything to
lose, so go there now - into The Dark with you!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Dark
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This continent is covered in snow, but still, it's floating in lava. Madness,
indeed. Anyway, start running southeast towards the only dungeon on the whole
continent - Demonkin's Haunt. It's a long trip, but you'll get there. In other
words, I don't pity you at all.

- NOTE: This is quite a maze. If you want to get all the treasure, I suggest
reading the following paragraphs very carefully. Hope it's readable -
There's a healing and save point at the entrance, so use those before doing
anything else. Now go a little east, then head south at the first fork. When
the path splits, go right to find a switch on the floor. Step on it in order to
open a gate. Keep on going south, and go west when the path splits again
to find a room with some [Lightwater] in a chest. Next, keep on going south
past another fork to find a chest with an [Onycite] near a dead end. Go back to
the previous fork (the one you walked past a moment ago) and go west this time.
You'll find a passage that was blocked by the gate you unlocked earlier.
After walking into that passage you'll see a chest in the southwestern end of
the room. Open this chest to get a [Crystal Evil], then backtrack to the save
and healing point at the beginning of the dungeon. Start moving east from the
save and healing points now, past the path you went south at earlier. Follow
the corridor until it splits into one path leading south and one east. The
south path is a dead end, so run east to reach a new area with corridors.
Just like in the first area, one path leads east, and one south at the
beginning. Follow the southern one to reach a square-formed room with a chest.
This one contains a [Tourmand]. Grab that item, then return to the entrance of
this area. Go east this time, instead of south. You'll reach a corridor with
walls that seem like they've just been carved out of the mountain. Run east
through this 'carved' corridor. Shortly after the corridor starts looking
normal again, the path splits - one path leading north, and one south.
The path leading north is just a dead end, so you'll want to progress south.
At the next fork, go west for a [Zirquoise] on your right side, and a switch
that you need to step on on your left. Back at the previous fork, go south this
time around, after stepping on the switch. Keep running south into another
'carved' corridor, ignoring the path leading west just before it. At the end of
this second 'carved' corridor, go left first to find a chest with [Wakewater]
inside. Go back to the end of the carved corridor, and run east into another
new area. Happily, there's a save and healing point at the entrance here!
Just northwest of the save and healing points, there is another chest with some
[Wakewater] inside. Grab the water, then go northeast from the save point to
find a chest with 2,355 tems inside. You'll see a gate southwest of the save
point, and a open path southeast of it. Follow this path, head south at the
first fork to find three chests containing [Fruit of Wisdom], [Fruit of
Agility] and [Fruit of Strength]. After getting the three fruits, kill the
three chests (they turn into Trickster Chests) and go back to the previous
fork again. Run east at this fork this time.
Sprint past a set of statues, until you arrive in a room with three chests.
They contain [Fortune Diagram 3], a [Horn of Bravery] and a [Gildergold] stone.
After taking these three items, backtrack to the room with the statues and
PUSH THE MIDDLE STATUE in order to open the gate that was located southwest of
the last save and healing point.
Run back to that gate, and follow the path leading south behind it. Time for a
short cut-scene. During the cut-scene, Tatsuya and friends find some mirrors,
and out of one of 'em comes a familiar face - A Tatsuya clone! A Shadow!
.------------------------------.-----------------.---------------------------.

| - Shadow is very vulnerable when it comes to physical attacks. Spam him |
| with Tatsuya's Triple Thrust, Meladee's Piercing Twinblades and |
| Sogreth's Inner Strength + Mindbender. However, make sure you don't |
| get too carried away with Meladee's attacks, as you'll want her to |
| keep the whole party alive, making sure all members have at least |
| 70% of their full HP at all times. Shadow has a very nasty Megaspark |
| attack that can easily kill three weakened characters in one blow. |
| In other words, go berserk with Physical attacks, but remember to heal! |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Now accept the fifth and final Gemstone. Tatsuya's Traveler's Sword transforms
into a [Demon's Bane] now that he has all the stones. In addition, Tatsuya
learns the Bravura Skill named Demonthrall. After healing your party members,
continue left, since the path behind you just collapsed.

| TO STEAL: Speed Caustic '---------------------------|
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Sogreth, Meladee |
| |
| - The battle against the Demon King isn't very different from the battle |
| against Shadow just a moment ago. Meladee's main purpose will be to |
| use her Zed Heal skill to heal the whole party, as the Demon King has |
| a thunder attack that hits all your characters at once. It's not |
| uncommon for this attack to deal 50% damage to all your characters. |
| Let Tatsuya and Sogreth attack with Triple Thrust and Nutcracker, and |
| if you don't need to heal, let Meladee attack with her Piercing Twin- |
| blades. Her main purpose will be healing, though. |
| |
| Demon King Avira has a couple of other attacks as well, such as an |
| earthquake that hits everyone, but doesn't do a lot of damage, and |
| a beam that hits one character and does a moderate amount of damage. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
After winning the battle against the Demon King himself, sprint a tiny bit east
to find a path leading to the upper right end of the area. Follow this path to
find the last treasure chest of the area, containing a [Fruit of Vitality]. Now
run back to where you fought the Demon King and go northwest from there to find
a save point and a healing point. Run up the stairs close to them. The stairs
lead back to The Dark World Map. You still can't fly on this continent, so make
your way back to the northwestern part of the continent, where the passage
leading back to The World of Vision can be found. Way to go!
===============================================================================
Truth & Friendship [wa12]
===============================================================================
Wayfinder Lau is waiting for Tatsuya back in Vision. He says that originally,
when a Traveler collects all the five gemstones, like Tatsuya and his friends
have done, the way to the Tower of Destiny will open. However, neither Tatsuya
nor Rei have been able to find the path to the tower. Lau thinks that Tatsuya
and Rei aren't Travelers after all, since the path hasn't appeared! Heck! Will
Tatsuya not be able to make Miki healthy again!? Lau does however have an idea.
He explains that Tatsuya must travel to the Goddess and ask her to fulfill his
wish - ask her directly. Okay. Now, run out of the Border Cave, back to the
world map again. Fly back to the Observatory and go to the top. Dr. Baksan
learns Ropple his Bravesoul, the VARIA, a skill once used by Ropple's dad.
It lets Ropple reduce incoming magical damage.
Sogreth can also learn his Bravesoul now, by talking to Minos in Sakawa town.
This bravesoul is named THICK SKIN, and boosts Sogreth's defense once his HP
reaches a critical point. Now, enough with the Bravesoul collecting!
Directly north of Gasara Town, there is a snowy mountain that you can only
reach by flying. There's a location on this mountain named 'Dela Rubesi'. This
is your destination, so fly over there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dela Rubesi - Cold! White! Snowy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

| | look impossible, but you can actually walk
o--------------------------------o through the broken statue pieces.
After grabbing the diagram, run up the stairs in the middle of the area to find
a whole village - frozen to ice! There's a star sigil in the middle of the
village. Of course, Tatsuya uses it to go back to the real world. After he's
returned to Dela Rubesi, examine the stone just right of the star sigil.
When asked to, raise your sword up in the air. Doing so will warp you to the
Crystal Sanctuary. Really exciting.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crystal Sanctuary - Entrance
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start off by healing and saving just left of the entrance. Continue north from
the save point. You'll reach a place with many different paths leading further
north. Actually, there's three paths. Follow the westmost one first, in order
to reach the Left Chapel part.

First, go directly west to find a chest containing [Barrier Tonic]. Now follow
the path leading south. You'll end up at another fork north of the chest where
you got the tonic. There's actually 5 different paths leading north at this
fork, and we gotta check them all out. Start by following the westmost path.
You'll find a switch that you need to step on, and a chest behind the switch,
containing the [Recovery Diagram 3]. Now go back to the fork, and this time
follow the path just east of the westmost one. Don't step on the switch here,
as monsters will appear, but grab the item in the chest behind the switch. This
is a [Lightwater] potion inside an assault chest that you gotta kill.
Now, back at the fork, follow the path east of the previous one, and step on
the switch there. Go back, and now follow the second-to-eastmost path. Don't
step on the switch, but walk behind it to find a chest containing
[Goddess's Rain] and a locked gate. Ignore the gate, and now follow the
eastmost path. Step on the switch there. Now, you'll hear a sound after
activating the three switches. The gate near the Goddess's Rain chest has
opened. Go to that gate right away.
Behind the gate, keep following the path until it splits. Go west from the fork
to find a chest with a [Bracer of the Sun] inside. Go back to the fork and head
south. Believe it or not, the path splits again. One left, one right. Go right
to find a [Horn of Bravery], then go left. Follow the path in circles until you
find a grave-chest with a [Crystal Bird] inside. With this bird statue in your
inventory, return to the entrance part of the dungeon. Remember the three paths

Now, just west of this chest there is a switch. Press it in order to activate
it. West of the switch there is a locked gate. Just ignore this gate for now.
Return to the very first fork of the right chapel now. Head east this time.
There's several paths leading north from here. Follow the first one for the
[Dragonblazers], then go directly to the third and last path leading north to
find another chest. This one contains [Tears]. Now, head back to the second,
middle path. It leads a little further north than the first and third ones.
You'll end up at a dead end close to the switch you activated earlier. There's
a second switch here, so activate it. The gate you saw earlier, near the first
switch, will now open. Go through that gate right away. After following the
path behind the gate for a short minute, you will find a gravechest containing
a [Crystal Frog]. Now that you have both the Crystal Frog and Crystal Bird,

| '------------------------------|
| TO STEAL: Might Tonic |
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Sogreth, Meladee |
| |
| - This battle is kind of easy, as long as you remember to put a healer |
| in your lineup. Meladee is my favorite choice, since she's fairly good |
| at dealing damage, and can heal everyone at once using Zed Heal. |
| Attack the guardian with Triple Thrusts, Mindbenders and Nutcrackers. |
| The guardian will, at most times, attack one person at a time, by |
| slashing them two to four times. This does a lot of damage to the |
| one being hit, so heal him/her quickly afterwards. |
| |
| In the middle of the battle, the guardian will boost his own ATK/DEF, |
| but the battle continues the same way. Forgetting to heal one turn |
| can easily be enough to lose, so don't forget. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
After beating the guardian, save your game again, then go directly north into
the next area, the path of destiny. There's no enemies or treasure, so just
follow the path until you reach the very end of it, where the Tower of Destiny
is. Watch the cut-scene, and prepare for another battle.
.---------------------------.-----------------.------------------------------.
| BOSS BATTLE: Onba | TATSUYA LVL: 58 | SPOILS: [Captive Soul] |
|---------------------------'-----------------| [Goddess's Rain] |
| '------------------------------|
| TO STEAL: Goddess's Rain |
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Sogreth, Meladee |
| |
| - FORM I: |
| |
| Sogreth is one of your best characters for this battle - his |
| Nutcracker attack should easily do at least 150 damage per hit, |
| without any status boosting spells. Use Nutcracker each turn, use |
| Meladee's Zed Heal to heal all characters at once. As for Tatsuya, |
| you will want to save the majority of his MP for the next turn, |
| since using Demonthrall in the boss's next phase is recommended. |
| |
| Onba will unleash poison on all your character at the beginning of |
| the battle, but worry about restoring HP with Zed Heal instead of |
| curing the poison status. In addition to the poison flood, Onba |
| might use a freezing attack that hits all your characters, or |
| simply hit one character with its hand. The latter does pretty |
| little damage, so beg for it to use that attack as often as |
| possible. Keep all this up until Onba changes its form into half |
| demon, half toad! |
| |
| - FORM II: |
| |
| This part of the battle is much harder. The boss is now able to |
| confuse your party members. If someone gets confused, use a potion |
| to get him or her back to normal, before he/she attacks one of |
| your own characters. In addition, Onba now uses the freeze spell |
| more frequently, and has stopped using that weak one-character-hit |
| attack from the first form. It's more important than ever to heal |
| every single round. |
| |
| If you run out of MP, make sure you use food and other healing |
| items to replace the healing spells. Lightwater, for example, is a |
| good replacement for the Zed Heal spell. Use Tatsuya's Demonthrall |
| skill whenever you can, in order to halt the boss's movements. |
| This is very effective to keep her from damaging you, but costs |
| MP - Lots of it. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
In fear of receiving hundreds of mails complaining, I won't spoil a bit of
information regarding the ending sequence. Watch it through - it's well worth
it, and involves a beautiful Darbaba Wagon trip during the credits. After
watching it all, select 'save clear data' when asked to. You can load your
clear data savegame. In clear data mode, you can use all the guest characters
in the game during battle, whenever you want to. You can also do the quests you
haven't finished yet, and visit Earthrift in the northeastern end of the map.

Foresta Morgana [sp02]
===============================================================================
Foresta Morgana is a magic forest located in the desert near Vahadina. Inside
the forest, there are several stones that are blocking your way. The only way
to remove these stones is to collect the spellrocks that most of the bosses in
the game drop. The spellrocks' power will remove the stones that are blocking
the path in the forest. After removing the stones, you'll find chests
containing various items. Also note that behind most stones, there is a passage
that leads to another part of the forest. Foresta Morgana is a completely
optional part of the game, that you don't have to worry about if you don't want
the optional items. It's worth getting them though, in my opinion.
Since Foresta Morgana is a magic location, its location will often change, but
no matter what, it can always be found somewhere within the desert. The most
common location seems to be in the northeastern end of the desert, but
sometimes, it moves to the southwestern end, or the middle of the desert.

Foresta Morgana ASCII Map
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Explaining where all the stones and items are located is something I find hard
to do with words only, which is why I've made this simple map you can refer to
if you have problems finding items or stones. The items are typed up inside
normal [brackets] like in the main walkthrough, whole stones that can be
removed using clawrocks have gotten -> This Kind <- of markup. As for other
things like save points and persons, they're written up (Like This).
I'm not very skilled at making ASCII maps, but I hope you'll be able to use it.
I've made one map for each area. As you'll notice, there is a new area behind
many of the stones, which is why there are so many small maps below. Some
stones however, do not have new areas behind them, just chests/other rewards.
To avoid confusion, note that the entrance area is listed at the bottom, as the
entrance area is the south-most part of the forest in the game.

The Earthrift [sp03]
===============================================================================
The Earthrift dungeon is home to many strong monsters, and can be explored as
soon as you beat Demon King Avira in the main game. The Earthrift is located on
the island in the northeastern end of the world map. It's an optional dungeon,
so you can skip it if you want to. I recommend leveling your party up 'til
around level 60, and making sure to equip strong accessories before entering,
but it's your choice in the end.

Welcome! From the entrance of The Earthrift, run east past a statue, then go
north to find a chest. You can't open it now though, as some bones are
preventing you, so go west from the chest to find a switch on the floor. Step
on it, then open another chest near this switch, in order to get a [Horn of
Bravery]. After stepping on the switch, you can go back east and open the chest
that you couldn't open earlier. It's a trap though, as opening it will make
three War Rablins attack you. Fight them off anyway, they deserve a good
beating. If you've got trouble beating them, use Tatsuya's Kamui skill on them
to make the battle easier. After beating the three of them, the
[Bow of the Sun] is all yours. Now then, run back to the statue at the
entrance. Examine it, and fight the two upcoming battles. Afterwards, the
statue will vanish, and you'll find the [Absorption Diagram 3] behind it.
Sprint directly south from the statue that you just made vanish. You'll find
two new statues, a switch between them, and a chest left of them. Open the
chest for some [Lightwater], then kill the chest, since it attacks you after
you've grabbed the lightwater. The statues aren't used for anything, but the
switch is. So, step on the switch to activate it. Run a tiny bit north from the
switch now, to find a green water pond.
Run to the southern end of the green pond. Just southwest of the southern end
of the pond there is another chest. Open it, and fight off the Rhinorc Titan
and War Rablin that comes out of the chest. After killing them, you will get
the [Lance of the Dawn] for Leynart. Now it's time to make your way to the far
eastern end of the area, so run east from the green pond. You'll reach a place
with some statues, bones on the floor, and a red arrow behind them. Examine the
bones, and kill the monsters. There are three bone piles. You need to examine
them all, then examine the statue in the middle. It'll move away, revealing a
path leading into a new area.

o---------------------------------------------------------------------------o
Let's go directly south from the B2F entrance to find a chest. As usual, you
will get attacked by monsters when opening it, so kill 'em off. Afterwards,
you'll get the [Scepter of the Dusk]! There's another chest directly north of
the entrance to B2F, containing [Crystal Light]. Go west from the crystal light
chest, and keep on following the only path here until you reach the northern
end of the area, where you'll find a chest with a [Goddess's Rain] inside.
Go southwest from the chest with the goddess's rain, continuing southwest past
a SNOB girl, then going east at the next fork to find a statue. Examine it, and
prepare for an entertaining quiz. Here's the answers if you need help:
.------------------------------------.---------------------------------------.
| RIDDLE | CORRECT ANSWER |
|------------------------------------|---------------------------------------|
| What's the name of Yuno's Pet? | The pet's name is 'Sotark' |
|------------------------------------+---------------------------------------|
| What's the name of Sogreth's son? | His name is 'Minos' |
|------------------------------------+---------------------------------------|
| What's the name of Leynart's wife? | His wife is named 'Sasha' |

| What's the name of Ropple's teach? | 'Dr. Baksan' |
|------------------------------------+---------------------------------------|
| Name of the dragon from the mines | The dragon is named 'Volgh' |
|------------------------------------+---------------------------------------|
| What is the Highlander's Mark? | It's a 'band' |
|------------------------------------+---------------------------------------|
| The Gemstone was the dragon's.. | The dragon's 'left eye' |

| What weapon does Kutz wield? | She wields a 'whip' |

| Name one of Meladee's men! | 'Pramm' |
|------------------------------------+---------------------------------------|
| What's the demonkin king named? | The king of all demonkin, 'Avira' |
'------------------------------------'---------------------------------------'
After answering all the riddles, the gate behind the quiz statue will open.
Behind it, you'll find a chest with monsters in. Slay them to get Sogreth's
[Axe of the Snow]. Run southwest from the gate now to find a [Crystal Darkness]
and move east from the crystal darkness to find a switch on the floor. Activate
it. Ignore the old man north of the switch, and go east instead for another
chest. This one contains 1 tem. Very nice! Kill the chest when it attacks.
Before fighting Sheng, the old man, let's backtrack to the Cave of Trials, near
Wayfinder Lau's hut. Make sure you've found the weapons listed in the
paragraphs above, as you'll need them for the purpose we're going back for.

Speak with the four guardian statues. They're asking you if you bear their
amulets or not. As said before, you need the weapons from Earthrift now. If you
have them, tell all four of them that you bear their amulets. The guardians
will give you some equipment: [Armlet of the Dusk], [Necklace of the Snow],
[Garland of the Dawn] and the [Ring of the Sun]. After getting those four
items, an event will trigger, and you get the [Goddess's Diadem]! All of these
items are accessories, and can only be equipped by certain characters:
The accessories you got from .------------------------.----------------------.
the guardians are of the best | ACCESSORY | USER |

absolutely equip all of them | Armlet of the Dusk | Ropple |
before going back to the |------------------------+----------------------|
Earthrift and fighting Sheng. | Goddess's Diadem | Meladee |
|------------------------+----------------------|
All of the accessories will | Garland of the Dawn | Leynart |

find it to be a pretty nice |------------------------+----------------------|
replacement for healing | Ring of the Sun | Yuno |
by casting Bravura Skills '------------------------'----------------------'
all the time, as that
prevents the healer from dealing damage to your opponent in battle. Smart,
don't you think? Anyway, it's not a total replacement for healing, just one
you can rely upon when you take smaller amounts of damage.
.------------------------.----------------------. Right now you're probably
| ACCESSORY | USER | wondering why Tatsuya didn't

| Goddess's Armlet | Tatsuya | restores HP each turn. To get
'------------------------'----------------------' that one, head over to Lanka
town, and speak with Maree,
who is waiting outside of the inn. She'll give you the [Goddess's Armlet].
Equip it on Tatsuya after getting it. If you want to, of course. I would.
Now you're ready to return to the Earthrift and fight the old man, Sheng.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Earthrift B2F - Fighting Sheng & Metatron
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.----------------------------.------------------.----------------------------.
| BOSS BATTLE: Sheng | TATSUYA LVL: 70+ | SPOILS: [Horn of Bravery] |
|----------------------------'------------------| [Goddess's Rain] |
| TO STEAL: Goddess s Rain '----------------------------|
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Meladee, Sogreth |
| |
| - Sheng is real old, and looks real weak and scrawny. However, |
| despite all this, he is without any doubt stronger than all of the |
| other bosses you've met in the game this far. You won't stand any |
| chance if your characters are under leveled - playing tricks on him |
| is no good. Instead, you will have to use raw power, and supply it |
| with lots and lots of healing. |
| |
| Make sure your characters are real strong. Around level 70 or |
| higher isn't a bad idea for this battle. and you've got the |
| accessories from Cave of Trials equipped, so that your characters |
| receive a little healing each turn automatically, in addition to |
| spells that you cast. I recommend using Tatsuya, Sogreth and |
| Meladee. The most important thing is to have someone that knows the |
| Zed Heal skill in your party -- it doesn't have to be Meladee, but |
| she has fairly good defense, so she's a nice choice. Cast Zed Heal |
| real, real often, even if your party looks healthy. Sheng has |
| some really crazy moves, such as his Whirlwind Kick that can get |
| close to killing a character in one blow. |
| |
| To make it even worse, he has a cannon attack that will most likely |
| take down one of your characters in one blow. If this happens, |
| resurrect using Meladee's Bravura skill of the same name. If you're |
| unlucky and Meladee dies, resurrect her using some Wakewater. You |
| can buy Wakewater in the Tearsheaven General Store, if needed. Your |
| main way of attacking Sheng in this battle should be Sogreth's |
| Nutcracker skill and Tatsuya's Triple Thrust. |
| |
| Keep attacking him, and healing with Zed Heal. After a while, Sheng |
| starts getting tired, breathing hard. When this happens, he might |
| use a healing spell on himself. To prevent him from doing so, cast |
| Tatsuya's Demonthrall skill on him to freeze his movements, then |
| continue attacking until he hits the ground. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Behind Sheng you will find a save point, a healing point and a huge monster.
The monster is named Metatron, and is another optional boss, just like Sheng.
.----------------------------.------------------.----------------------------.
| BOSS BATTLE: Metatron | TATSUYA LVL: 75+ | SPOILS: [Chaotic Soul] |
|----------------------------'------------------| [Fruit of Vitality]|
| TO STEAL: Fruit of Strength '----------------------------|
| PARTY: Tatsuya, Meladee, Sogreth |
| |
| - Metatron, the final boss of the game. He's actually not incredibly |
| tough. Put Tatsuya, Meladee and Sogreth in your party, like you |
| did when you killed Sheng. The most important thing here, is to |
| DEFEND with all characters when you see that Metatron uses his |
| 'Load Spellcannon' move. The turn after he's charged, he will |
| shoot a crazy beam that will, most likely, kill anyone that's not |
| defending themselves. As usual, Meladee's main task will be using |
| Zed Heal to keep everyone's HP on a nice level at all times. |
| Tatsuya should use Triple Thrust (eventually combined with Super |
| Traveler, to boost the damage he does per attack) and Sogreth |
| should use Mindbender or Nutcracker. |
| |
| Keep on attacking Metatron at all times, and when he starts |
| loading his cannon again, go back to defense. If someone dies, use |
| a wakewater potion, or resurrect them with Meladee. Metatron does |
| not have a healing spell like Sheng had, so you won't have to |
| worry about freezing his movements. As long as your level is |
| around 80, you can beat him as long as you remember defending and |
| healing. For a challenge, you can also take him on while being at |
| a lower level, such 70-75. If you beat Sheng, you can without a |
| doubt take out Metatron as well, without any additional leveling. |
| |
'----------------------------------------------------------------------------'
Now that Metatron has passed on, in a rather brutal way, you're done in
Earthrift. You're getting close to the point where there isn't anything left to
do in the game. Perhaps you're still missing a couple of sidequests? Do those!
===============================================================================
Sidequests [sp04]
===============================================================================
Sidequests are optional quests that you can try and complete if you want to, or
leave them alone. You don't have to do them if you don't want to. Completing
them is however pretty smart, as it'll lead to some nice rewards! The order
