Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I will be addressing the Universal Design for Learning
principles to extended and support all students learning by allowing them to create their own
Sway. Since the central focus will be tchoukball, I will allow the students to do as much needed
research over this sport to create an outline on how to play to tchoukball. The students will
include the following content on their Sway: rules, strategies, skills, equipment, objectives, and
boundaries. After that, the students will be expected to make their Sway that is entertaining for
others. The students will be able to refer to my Sway as an example to guide them.
Lesson idea implementation: At the beginning of class, I will briefly explain to the students that
tchoukball is a sport. Shortly after that, I will put on a video that demonstrates the following
skillset of tchoukball: rules, equipment, objectives, skills, strategies, and tactics. Next, I will put
on my Sway presentation of tchoukball on the smartboard for everyone to see it. Then, I will
explain the concept of each slide of tchoukball to the students. This time, I will ask the students
if they have any questions for me to answer. If not, I will ask them to login onto the iPad and go
their Sway account. Now I will walk the students through the proper steps on how to create a
Sway. Also, I will have the students to select a background, choose the text, pick a title, and list
their resources. For example, the students will tell me the proper steps for throwing and
catching. Plus, the students will list the sources where they found the information. Once the
students begin working on their Sway, I will be walking around helping the students that need
help or providing them with feedback. For instance, if I see a student that is having trouble
creating a presentation, I will assist and show them how to create slides.

Since the students will need additional time to finish their presentations, I will require them to
finish it at home. Also, I will give them a week to complete and practice presenting their
presentation. The way I will assess the students on the Sway assignment is by making sure they
complete the assignment and list all the important skills. I will look at my rubric to ensure
students meet the requirements. While I am teaching the students how to perform skills for
tchoukball, I will randomly call the students to answer questions. If the students did their
research, they should be able to answer the questions. Before the students leave, I will give them
a formal quiz about tchoukball. It will be their ticket out the door. This information would
allow me to see if the students understood the concepts of tchoukball. At the beginning of the
next class period, I will do a quick review and hand the students back their quizzes. As I am
going over the quiz, the students will correct the ones they got wrong.
Reflective Practice: I truly believe that the Sway presentation will give the students the
knowledge and history of tchoukball. Also, the students will have a better understanding of how
to perform the proper steps of each skill. In the near future, I will create videos that show the
class performing each task. For example, if I am going over the boundaries, I will have a video
that gives the students an audio and visual of the boundary lines and forbidden zones. This will
help me to teach a unit plan and to improve the students’ abilities to perform each skill of the
game as well. Also, Adobe Spark is another effective software to enhance students learning. I
could use that technology to teach another sport or physical activity.
