The exams in education system

3.1 Overview.

The exam is considered as an important procedure in the education system,

because it determines if the candidate has been understand the subject which he studied
and if he is ready to move to the next level or not.

There are many types of doing the exam procedure in the education, the exam
may be administered orally, on paper, on a computer, or on a computer over the internet
which is a part of E-learning system, the last type of exams is the topic of the project that
will be studied, analyzed , designed and implemented.

3.2 problem statement: -

Usually, two or three weeks before the examination starts, teachers have a list
of tasks to complete. Among others, the highest priority is to prepare the question papers.
They have to create good and appropriate questions for the students. A summary
of the process for examination preparation is shown in figure 1.1. While the more
experienced teachers will create their own questions, the others will just select
questions from reference books. They would type all the questions into a set of questions
using a word processor. Upon completion, they would print the questions, check and
then send them to the officer who is in charge of photocopy the questions according to
the number of students. During the preparation examination session, anything can happen
including unforeseeable events.. Sometimes, the photocopy machine would not work
properly. These situations would give big problems to the teachers.

The process continues with the teachers clipping the question sets; a complete
set for every student. They continue the work flow by piling up the set of question
papers according to class and the number of students in every particular class. These
piles of question papers would be sent to the examination secretary to keep it in a secured
place. They store the set of question papers in a file cabinet in the examination
secretary's room. On examination day, the examination secretary would distribute these
question papers to the teachers before they are distributed to the students. After the
students sit for the examination, the teachers would have to check the students' answers.
 Based on the current situation in school, some of the problems for the
teachers have been identified. Preparing question papers would take a long time
because teachers would have to type the questions, print, photocopy, and pile the
question papers, and send the question papers to the examination secretary. This
process would take a lot of time and it is a burden for these teachers, in addition of that;
some faults may happen when students’ exam sheets have been checked by teachers.

3.3 The suggested solution: -

Present Online Examination System helping the teachers and faculty

management doing the exam steps electronically from first step till the result out for
students, to minimize troubles which happen in the problem statement.

This saves the evaluation time. Besides this a large amount of details like
examination trends can be made available immediately if required.

3.3.1 Description of solution: -

The Online examination Software has several modules in it. Practically for a
system to be used on the internet it will have the students details module, student
authorization module, subjects and questions management, question paper management,
evaluation system and generation of results as well as student answer books.

The Online Examinations are well suited for multiple choice type questions. Here
a question is given and the student has to select the correct answer out of the four given
choices. A typical question is shown in the introduction. After the student finishes
answering the question paper he submits it by clicking on the submit button. The
software then processes the answers and awards the marks depending on the marking
scheme of the software; usually one mark is awarded for a correct answer and zero for a
wrong one.
 As soon as the student submits the answers, the administrator of the system can
get the results instantly and depending on the features several other data as well. This
may include the overall trends of the examination, the time taken by the student to
answer, the number of students passing in each section of a particular subjects and so on.
