Hello my name is Claire Stokes, I am your Ward Manager
Our team looks after patients with various conditions but Ward 20 specialises in the care of the
Older Person. We care for both men and women on the ward in 4 or 6 bedded single sex bays.
Each bay has its own bathroom. Each ward also has some single rooms, allocated on clinical need,
each with ensuite facilities.

Just a few basic things to remember

• Before entering a bay or side room please wash your hands and / or apply alcohol hand gel from a
dispenser
Matron • Meal times are protected and take place about 8am - 9am / 11.30am - 1pm / 5pm - 6pm
• If you would like to be with your relative or friend outside of visiting time please speak to myself or
Beds another member of the team. Visiting hours for the ward are Monday - Friday 3.00pm - 4.00pm and
6.30pm - 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am - 9pm

To improve the patient experience the team are:

Having now completed the 70 day pyjama paralysis campaign we are working hard with
patients and relatives to keep up this an on going theme on our care of the elderly ward,
ensuring our patients are out of bed and dressed in order to keep them active and reduce
the amount of time they spend in hospital. We are also working along side a few care
homes to introducing a red bag scheme where by they send in clothing and toiletries for
the patient along side any information that m
