ABSTRACT
In transportation, safety is a major issue and social concern in every country. In our
country the rate of accident is increasing year by year. In our study of volume and spot
speed, we proposed to collect data from a specific place or road. To know what is the
problem why road incident is increasing. This analysis work was carried out for the
proposed stretch and black spots were identified. The phenomenon of accident clusters
has been recognized for many years and there is considerable evidence showing that
the identification and treatment of such sites with low-cost engineering remedial
measures can be extremely cost-effective.
Approaches to accident cluster reduction include Single Site, Mass, Area and Route
Action plans. Of the four basic strategies, the potential for accident reduction using
simple low-cost remedial measures at single hazardous sites are particularly high. In
terms of accident reduction and prevention, local authorities in the UK have
considerable success with low-cost engineering safety improvements directed towards
treating accident clusters at localized sites. So we demand for transportation, safety is
an issue of major social concern and an area of extensive research work. First we
gather or count in specific hour, were referred to note down the different vehicles. The
analysis work was carried out for the proposed stretch and black spots were identified.
After this, the main data required is the geometrics of the road way which will be useful
for the evaluation of the black spot locations.
I. INTRODUCTION
II. OBJECTIVES
To determine the running speed, overall speed. Fluctuation in speed and to find out
delay time.
To gather the information such as amount, location, duration frequency and the causes
of the delay in the traffic stream.
To determine the spots of congestion and causes in-arriving at a suitable remedial
measures

III. METHODOLOGY
A. STUDY AREA
Defining a black spot is not straight forward. Given a range of approaches to data
collation and variations in areas and locations under consideration, investigating
bodies differ in defining what constitutes a black spot. Resources available are
also a consideration. The location is Evangelio Street going to Western National
Highway; it’s a one way, one lane road it has 3.5 m width. This road has fine
pavement, a fast road also which you can drive quickly and safe.

B. DATA COLLECTION
1. VOLUME
2. SPOT SPEED
Discuss how volume, speed, and time and space mean speed were obtained.
Include formulas.
A. DATA ANALYSIS
1. VOLUME
Present tables summarizing volume data per period. Show volume data per direction on
separate tables.
2. SPOT SPEED
Present tables summarizing speed data per period. Show speed data per direction on separate
tables.
For all computations, present them in the appendices. Just refer to them in your discussion. Use
the templates provided.
B. DISCUSSION
4
Discuss some of your observation with regards to the congestion of traffic in the area.
Also discuss whether you think speed limits should be imposed. Is there a need for traffic signs
or traffic signals? You may include photo documentation to aid your analysis.
Designing and construction of a road involves estimation of traffic volume and setting up
ideal speed for the vehicles to travel in a comfortable way. Now days, due to rapid increase in
volume of traffic the designed speed on high ways could not be maintained resulting a delay in
reaching target point.
Our project also involves survey of spot speed of vehicles, it helps us to recommend
changes to the existing system. These recommendation may involve establishment of
precautionary sighs like school zone, speed limit etc.
And also to study the traffic volume and check the time to reach the target in off-peak
and peak timing on this road.
