COURSE DESCRIPTION: A basic course in PUBLIC INTERNATIONAL LAW. lt commences with


an introduction of the lnternational Legal System and the vari*us schools of thought that gave rise
to that system. lt then proceeds to discuss the relations between States and other Non State Actors"
It ends with a survey of the current international tr"eaties like the VCLT, VCDR anri sth*r important
international treaties,

Objectives: This subiect aims generaliy tc prepare students for the practice of law and to equip larv
students with competent working knowtedge on the provisions of and skills in the application of the
eoncepts of Public lnternational Law. Specifically this course aims to prepare law students for
advocacy, counseling, problem-solving and decision-making, and to develop their ability to deal with
recog;nized legat problems in lnternational Law, tc prepare students for the bar examination and
ultimately to produce lawyers who conscientiously pursue the lofty goals of their profession and to
fully adhere to its ethical norms.
