ACKNOWLEGGMENT

If not because of our God, we would not be able to succeed in this endeavor. Praise Glory and
Honor unto Him for giving us the knowledge to comprehend this piece of research work. Thus,
we, the researchers are very much thankful for what He was given to us.

Also, this research would not be successful without the guidance, patience and support of the
following persons who in one way or another have helped us in so many ways. Because of then
we make our research successful, that’s why we would like to thank them a lot and also thank for
the love.

To Mr. Jimmy Sugse, Jr. who gave us a lot of support from the beginning. His support for us
didn’t fade. He helped us a lot, He gave so many suggestions, opinions, ideas, thank you so much
sir for your love, guidance and support.

To our parents, they give us a lot support and love, the financial budget we’re so thankful for
they have than for us, solve our problems thanks for being here from the start , one of the big part
of our research are our parents, full support on their children.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK OF THE STUDY

Welding requires skills from learners. It is important that learners know how to operate

equipment and how they can faced if there will be common problems will happen in welding

process and how they can fix it effectively and efficiently.

This chapter gives an extensive background of the research give the cause and solution to

the areas which is needed to comprehend to develop the welding process .In this Figure shows

the common problems and how they fix them.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This research will look into the common problems in welding faced by the students of

Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) in Surigao City National High School. Specifically, it

will answer the following specific questions:

1. What is the profile of the participants in terms of:

1.1 Age;

1.2 Sex

1.3 Number of hours spent in SMAW activities?

2. What is the level of knowledge of grade 11 SMAW students to the common

problems in welding in terms of ?

2.1 Spatter

2.2 Porosity

2.3 Undercut

2.4 Deformation

2.5 Cracks

2.6 Incomplete penetration and fusion

2.7 Slag inclusions

2.8 Incorrect wire delivery

3. Is there a significant difference in the level of knowledge of G 11 SMAW students to

the common problems in welding when the participants are grouped according to
their profile variables?

4. What recommendations may be proposed to increase the level of knowledge among

the Grade 11 SMAW students on the common problems in welding?
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This research would be beneficial to the students because they will know how to face the

types of problems when they are in the welding process. In this study the students can be aware

on things that will happen and what is the cause of the problem so that, they can easily fix where

is the problem of their welds.

This research would also be beneficial to teachers and administrators because they will be

able to understand the changes of the behavior, perception in life and actual performances of the

students in welding.

They can easily cope up to the student’s attitude. This research would be help to the
parents because it will help a lot that their children have knowledge about welding. This
research would be beneficial to the future researcher because they can get some
information that might needed in their research and some of their question may possibly
be answered by this research
SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This study focuses on the common problems in welding and how the students can fix

them. The data collection will be conducted to 100% of the total population in grade 11

SMAW of Surigao City National High School, School Year 2018-2019 who will

represent the population. This study will not cover other problems that are not

considered in Shielded Metal Art Welding. The other students which do not fall as part

of grade 11 SMAW are not within the scope of this research.

The study would be done through the utilization of questionnaire to the students as a

survey and reference. By their strategy the researchers will be able to know the

knowledge level of Grade11 SMAW students in Surigao City National High School

about the common problems of welding and how they can fix them.
