Polka Dot Mittens

Pam Powers of Ikigai Fibers has created a mitten pattern with large,
cheery polka dots in many colors. Your mitten will be toasty warm
worked in Ikigai Fibers Chibi Paka Chunky, an alpaca and wool
blend that is especially well suited to accessory knitting. Double
pointed needles will be essential to the strategy we’ll use to
manage the stranded floating yarns on the inside of your mittens.
You’ll choose the background color for your mittens. Yarn for the
polka dots will be included in your class fee.

The Shift
Your knitting world will expand when
you learn mosaic and slip
stitch color knitting.
You will use only one yarn at a time on
a row of knitting, but the clever use of
slip stitches will create the illusion of
more complicated color work. Kate will
guide you through a few swatches to
help you understand these techniques.
Then she’ll help you choose colors in
class for your own version of The Shift, a
cowl design by Andrea Mowry.

Whistlewood Vest
Kate is our specialist in nurturing newer knitters
through their very first garment
project . She’s happy to share the know-how
that will allow you to proudly wear that very first
garment. She’s selected this design by Susan Mills for
a shawl collared cardigan vest as an ideal project for
newbies. The bulky gauge yarn will make the project
work up quickly and be cozy and warm. The
thickness of the yarn will also show off the texture of
the wide seed stitch shawl collar and front opening.
The armholes and lower edge will finish with stocking
stitch in a gentle rolled edge.
