English Language

According to Collins Dictionary language is a communication system consisting of a set of sounds

and written symbols which are used for speaking or writing by the people of a particular country or
region.

Out of the different languages used in the world as of today, English has become the major ones
in the field, in fact, according to Richard Nordquist (2020), it is now estimated that there are 1.5 billion
English speakers worldwide: 375 million who speak English as their first language, 375 million as a
second language and 750 million as a foreign language.

Due to the global demand, many people are required to study English because it is most
commonly used in interacting around the world, and is also spoken in many countries as a first language.
English plays an important role in many industries such as education, medicine, engineering and
business (Nordquist, 2020).

Technology

Encyclopedia Britannica states that technology is the application of scientific knowledge to the
practical ends of human life or, as it is sometimes phrased, to the change and manipulation of the
human environment.

We use technology in almost everything we do in our everyday lives; we use technology in the
workplace, we use technology for communication, transportation, manufacturing, data storing, business
scaling and most importantly in learning (Ran ey, 2017).

Technology as you can see is a vital part of life as we know it. Ultimately we're all going to have
to accept the technological advances in society and learn how to work with more software powered
tools (Sweeney, 2017).

Influences of Technology in English

Technological innovations are part of education and the teaching of the English language, but
not all have staying power. The novelty of certain technologies will wear out, and questions about
privacy and data protection are increasing. Only the technologies that come with strong teaching
practices are going to stand the time test.

A recent report forecasts that the demand for English learning will likely drive the growth of the
English language learning and development software market, which can integrate verbal and visual
learning, streamline processes and inspire more learners to collaborate (Zazulak, 2016).

Today we see resource materials such as PronPack 1-4 (Mark Hancock) stressing a non-
prescriptive approach and concentrating instead on improved intelligibility as the target. Using mixed
learning and gamification elements, this pronunciation course does not support either the British or
American sound of the learner, but rather trains the learner to use English in the global arena (Suan
Chong, 2018).

In addition to this, according to Dexway Team, a company that promotes English learning
through various innovations, technology transforms students from passive recipients into active learners
and allows for a deeper and more enriching immersion of languages. Students use comprehensive apps
to study their English course which synchronize even without the internet.

Using technology to develop your students ' language skills, especially their English-speaking
learners. There are great programs and apps that help students with their ability to listen, talk, learn,
and write (Ferlazzo, 2017).

Technology and English have an interdependent relationship, as they make a significant

contribution to the productive use of one another in the modern world. English language facilitates the
dissemination of technology throughout the recesses of our lives, since it is the world's top lingua
franca. Globalization has accelerated the globewide spread of language (Lipelamos, 2018).
