Verse 2:

ُ‫اّلل إِن كنت ْم‬َُِّ ‫ف ِدي ُِن‬ ُ ِ ‫اح ُد ِمْن ه َما ِمائََُة َج ْل َدةُُۖ َوَُل ََتْخ ْذك ُم ِبِِ َما َرأْفَُة‬ ِ ‫ان فَاجلِدوا ك َُّل و‬َّ ‫الزانِيَُة َو‬
َ ْ ُ ِ‫الز‬ َّ
َُ ِ‫ّلل َوالْيَ ْوُِم ْاْل ِخ ُِرُۖ َولْيَ ْش َه ُْد َع َذ َاِب َما طَائَِف ُة ِم َُن الْم ْؤِمن‬
‫ي‬ َُِّ ‫ت ْؤِمنو َُن ِِب‬
The Zaniyah and the Zani, flog each of them with a hundred stripes, Let not pity withhold you in their case,
in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day, And let a party of the believers
witness their punishment.

Verse 3:

‫ي‬ َُ ِ‫نكح َها إَُِّل َزانُ أ َُْو م ْش ِركُُۚ َوحُِرَُم ََٰذل‬

َُ ِ‫ك َعلَى الْم ْؤِمن‬ ِ ‫الزانِي ُة َُل ي‬ ِ ِ ِ ُ ِ‫الز‬
َ َ َّ ‫ان َُل يَنك ُح إَُّل َزانيَُة أ َُْو م ْش ِرَك ُة َو‬ َّ
The Zani marries not but a Zaniyah or a Mushrikah; and the Zaniyah, none marries her except a Zani or a
Mushrik. Such a thing is forbidden to the believers.

Verse 4:

‫ي َج ْل َدةُ َوَُل تَ ْقبَ لوُا ََل ُْم‬ َُ ِ‫اجلِدوه ُْم ََثَان‬ ِ ُِ َ‫صن‬
ْ َ‫ات ُثَّ َُلْ ََيْتوا ِِب َْربَ َع ُة ش َه َد ُاءَ ف‬ َُ ‫َوالَّ ِذ‬
َ ‫ين يَ ْرمو َُن الْم ْح‬
‫اسقو َُن‬ ِ ‫ك ه ُم الْ َف‬ َُ ِ‫َش َه َادةُ أَبَداُۚ َوأوَٰلَئ‬
And those who accuse chaste women, and produce not four witnesses, flog them with eighty stripes, and
reject their testimony forever. They indeed are the rebellious.

Verse 5:

ُ‫اّللَ َغفورُ َّرِحيم‬

َُّ ‫َصلَحوُا ُفَِإ َُّن‬ َُ ِ‫ين ََتبوُا ِمن بَ ْع ُِد ََٰذل‬
ْ ‫ك َوأ‬ َُ ‫إَُِّل الَّ ِذ‬
Except those who repent thereafter and do righteous deeds; (for such) verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most
Merciful.

Verse 6:

‫ّلل‬ ُ ‫َح ِد ِه ُْم أ َْربَعُ َش َه َاد‬

َُِّ ‫ات ِِب‬ ِ
َ ‫اجه ُْم َوَُلْ يَكن ََّل ُْم ش َه َداءُ إَُّل أَنفسه ُْم فَ َش َه َادةُ أ‬ َُ ‫ُ َوالَّ ِذ‬
َ ‫ين يَ ْرمو َُن أ َْزَو‬
‫ي‬َُ ِ‫الص ِادق‬
َّ ‫إِنَّهُ لَ ِم َُن‬
And for those who accuse their wives, but have no witnesses except themselves, let the testimony of one
of them be four testimonies by Allah that he is one of those who speak the truth.

Verse 7:

َُ ِ‫اّلل َعلَْي ُِه إِن َكا َُن ِم َُن الْ َك ِاذب‬

‫ي‬ َُِّ ‫ت‬ َُّ ‫اْلَ ِام َس ُة أ‬
َُ َ‫َن لَ ْعن‬ ْ ‫َو‬
And the fifth (testimony); invoking of the curse of Allah on him if he be of those who tell a lie.

Verse 8:

َُ ِ‫ّللُ إِنَّهُ لَ ِم َُن الْ َك ِاذب‬

‫ي‬ َُِّ ‫ات ِِب‬
ُ ‫اب أَن تَ ْش َه َُد أ َْربَ َُع َش َه َاد‬
َُ ‫َويَ ْد َرأُ َعْن َها الْ َع َذ‬
But she shall avert the punishment from her, if she bears witness four times by Allah, that he is telling a lie.

• ُ‫ ُخ ِر‬- Khumur (veils) is the plural of Khimar, which means something that covers, and is what is
used to cover the head. This is what is known among the people as a veil.

• ُ‫ جيوِبِِ َّن‬- Juyub means over their necks and chests so that nothing can be seen of them.
• ‫ ِزينَ تَ ه َُّن‬- Zinatahunna – adornment, such as clothes and outer garments
• ‫ – ْاْل َََي َم َُٰى‬Ayamaa
o plural of Ayyim
o woman who has no husband or a man who has no wife
o regardless of whether they have been married and then separated or have never been
married at all
o applied to men and women alike

• ‫اجلِدو‬ْ َ‫ ف‬- Flog – jalad

• ‫ َر َجم‬- Stoning – rajm
• ‫اها‬
َُ َ‫ضن‬
ْ ‫ فَ َر‬- Faradhnaha - We have enjoined them upon you and those who come after you.
• Li’an - the oath of condemnation
• Al-lfk - the Slander

ُ‫ان‬

ْ ُ ‫ خط َو‬- Khutuwat of Shaytan
o his deeds
o Shaytan’s evil whispers
o Every sin is one of the footsteps of Shaytan
o Vowing to commit sin is one of the footsteps of Shaytan

• ‫ ِدينَ ه ُم‬- Dinahum - their account

• ‫ض ِربْ َُن‬ْ َ‫( َولْي‬and to draw) - pull it around and tie it securely
• ‫ ِعبَ ِادك ُْم َوإِ َمائِك ُْم‬- your male slaves and female slaves
• ‫ – َسَراب‬mirage
• َُ ‫ – َوْد‬rain
‫ق‬
• ‫ – ََِس ْعنَا َوأَطَ ْعنَا‬we hear, and we obey
ِ ‫ قَو‬- women who no longer think that they can bear children
