YOUNG GENERATION FOR A BETTER INDONESIA

In this modern era, our nation Indonesia has passed through various challenges of the
globalization era. The existing swifts of globalization have dragged the country into
obstacles that are very hard. Globalization comes without caring whether this country can
deal with it or not, or unwilling to deal with it or not. The things are that the existing
globalization will continue to flow swiftly with various challenges that have to be faced by
this country with upheaval in it.

Of course, there is a positive and negative side. It depends on us, as an Indonesian people to
respond. The challenge of globalization is not only in terms of economic competition, but
also competition for the spread of ideology, culture, and national values. Thus, it can be
easily felt today.

Today's youth are more proud to be called western followers and have such an external
culture. This becomes the country's major problems with reducing the sense of pride of
Indonesian identity ranging from customs, culture, language, and tribe. So from, that needs
efforts to recognize and protect the local wisdom of Indonesia, which includes:

Building up a Sense of Nationalism

Cultivate a nationalism sense as the contribution of nationalism itself, including all aspects
therein. We can see the existence of nationalism, namely: first, as the young generation, we
must appreciate the struggle of the hero with a nonstop focus on building the nation's name
in the national and international arena. They have given their soul, body, blood, and
everything. They have battled all the time. morning to afternoon, afternoon to evening.
Second, having achievement in the field being interested and carries the name of the nation,
Indonesia and having an outshined character of nationalism positive spirit. Like what we
have done today joining in competion. Not only getting an experience but also we can
improve our skill in using english that known as international langauge. Third, educating
ourself as well as possible, through Education, we can build up this nation into a better one.
Developing self-identity of Indonesia can be reached in two ways which are formal and
informal. First, a formal. That way can be developed through formal education such as
elementary, junior, senior high school and at University level by fostering a national sense
of culture, ethnicity, and language, both local and national language. While an informal, it
can be established through ways to behave of local friendliness. By maintaining the typical
characteristics of Indonesia, we will never get cracked by more advanced ages. Those two
ways have strong implications for the richness of Indonesia both from culture and language
aspects. So that, in the future, it will not be taken by foreign countries due to not preserving
the nationality itself as seen the fact of escaping Sipadan and Ligitan Island from Indonesia
to Malaysia.

As the young generation, it is a must for us to keep this country, to protecting and to
continue the idea of this country. We must have a nationalism spirit like our heroes.
Because we are the next generation of this country. Let’s love this country, let’s keep this
country, let’s proud to be Indonesian, and let’s appreciate the struggle of our hero. Bung
Karno has ever said, the big country is a country that appreciates the distinction of the
hero.
