APS-65( )/FGS-65( ) DIAGNOSTICS

(Except APSBBNG)
All systems have an airborne and ground self-test mode. Both
tests are initiated by pushing the TEST button on the FCP-65/65A
Flight Control Panel. All APC/FGC-65( ) computers except APCl
FGC-65 statuses -099/-199/-299 have additional diagnostics that
are enabled during self test by pushing and holding various mode
buttons.

The ground test mode is latching (push TEST to turn on and push
a second time to turn off) and can be selected only when the air-
speed is less than 60 knots and the strut switch is closed. The
ground test mode is annunciated by the GA annunciator.

The airborne test mode is non-latching (TEST button must be

held) and is selected when the airspeed is greater than 60 knots
or the strut switch is open. The airborne test mode can also be
entered while in ground test by pushing and holding the TEST
button.

Both tests provide a brief annunciator test prior to lighting any

diagnostic annunciators. If no faults are found during the airborne
test, all annunciators blink until the TEST button is released.

Use the following procedure to obtain consistent diagnostics

whenever a fault is suspected.

(Note: TEST button is not held during ground test.)

1. Do NOT push AP ENG or YAW ENG buttons.

2. Clear any lateral modes that have been selected.
3. Push/hold FCP-65 TEST button and record any annunciators
that light.
4. Push/hold FCP-65 TEST and ALT buttons. Record any
annunciators that light.
5. Push/hold FCP-65 TEST and IAS (or SPD) buttons. Record
any annunciators that light.
6. Pushlhold FCP-65 TEST and HDG buttons. Record any
annunciators that light.
7. Release TEST and HDG buttons. Autopilot and yaw damper
engage may now be attempted.
8. Give results from steps 3 thru 6 to maintenance personnel
along with any other pertinent info such as mode selected,
speed, altitude, etc.

Steps 4, 5, and 6 can be omitted if system under test does not

have the additional diagnostic capabilities.
