DETAILED LESSON PLAN


I. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the Grade 4 students should be able to:
1. Identify the effects of decaying materials to one's health and safety.
2. Describe the physical state of people exposed to decaying materials.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Effects of Decaying Materials to One's Health and Safety
Reference: Science Grade-4 Learners Material First Edition 2015, pages 14-20.
Exploring and protecting our world by Carmelita C. Coronel et. al
Materials: Visual Aids, Pictures, Scissors, Tape
Value Focus: Controlling pollution

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY

“Good Morning Class!!” “Good Morning Teacher”

“Let us pray first” (One assigned student will lead the prayer)
“Who is our prayer leader for today?”

“Please be settle, arrange your chair and sit (Students will arranged their chairs)
properly.”

“For many years pollution knows no boundaries


and is a leading route of early deaths worldwide”

“Today we will talk about Effects of Decaying Yes Ma’am

I have here pictures of different environment. I
want you to describe what you observe in the
picture.

C. LESSON PROPER
“Is there anyone in the class who has an idea about
decaying materials?” (The students will share their idea about the
topic)
“What about pollution?”

Pollution is an action or process of making land,


water and air dirty and not safe to use.

Pollution is one thing that can seriously interfere


with the proper functioning of the body. (The students will listen attentively)

Decaying materials when not dispose properly


causes pollution.

“But how can we stop pollution?”


“Yes, “

“All of your ideas were right” (Student will share their ideas about the topic)

“Well another way to stop pollution is to start by


composting”

Compost are waste materials that are recycled as


fertilizer.

Making compost is one way of helping stop (The students will listen attentively)
pollution and another way of disposing garbage
properly.

D. GENERALIZATION

If you do not have any question. I will give each of
you a piece of paper. For 10 minutes I want you to
answer these question; What do you think is the
importance of learning about the effect of decaying
materials to one's health and safety? How can you
help to stop pollution? In the paper provided. (Students will raise their hand)

Learning about the effects of decaying materials to


one's health and safety is to be aware about the
things that may harms us. Decaying materials that
are not disposed properly will cause pollution.
To stop the pollution we can start by composting
wherein the waste materials are recycled as a
fertilizer.

Summary:

1. Pollution is an action or process of making


land, water and air dirty and not safe to
use.
2. Compost are waste materials recycled as a
fertilizer.
3. Proper disposal of waste should be
observed in areas near dumpsites, esteros
and canals to prevent them from to much
exposure to garbage that will result to
disease.
4. Exposure to decaying materials will make
people sick.
