UD 2.4 – PACKAGE 1 LSA, JORDAN

 General

Cable size: 3/c-95mm2+35mm2, 11KV

Cable Direction: From DS-1 up to T1-5 (south area).

Cable Routs: DS1-MH17-MH17A-MH17B-MH18.

Rout distance: 511 Mtr.

Duct conduit: for the above rout, use conduit indicated with No. # 1, see attached drawing

Cable drum number: Drum-A, factory Number: M3-4941

Drawing reference: Refer to drawings sections XE-105, XE-117, and XE-119.

 This methodology will explain the procedures for installing the M.V cables at the LSA site
between DS1 and T1-5 in a safe manner and as per site construction situation.
The data of the cable is:
- Cable construction: 3X95 ,CU/SC/XLPE/SC/CUT/PVC
- Insulation type: Tree-retardant cross-linked polyethylene (TR-XLPE)
- Cable diameter-Approximate(mm): Dia. = 60.0 mm
- Bending radius during installation 10*Dia

 MV Cable Pulling Works Methodology

With reference to, the cable tension calculations (attached), the cable cannot be pulled continuously in
one stage of pulling from DS1 up to T1-5, and that because of:
a- The high value of the sidewall bearing pressure SWBP force
b- Moreover, the used rope length is only 360 Mtr.

Accordingly, the cable pulling will be implement in two stages:


1- First stage of pulling:
 The cable drum will be installed near to manhole MH17-B (far away only 20
Mtr.)
 Verify the vertical mount for the cable drum
 Cable rollers will be used between the cable drum and the manhole to run the
cable on it.
 Verify that the roller proper fixed and rotating freely.
 Plastic sheet will be used to protect the cable not to be laid on the ground.
 The pulling machine will be installed near the manhole MH17 side with 10Mtr.
Distance.
 Fill the lube pump with lubricant and make it ready at the Drum side.
 Bring the pulling rope of machine up to cable drum side using the previously
fixed rope.
 Connect the cable end to the pulling machine thru the pulling rope, and fix the
pulling grip to cable.
 Place two or three persons to control the cable drum breaking and to avoid the
continuation of cable de-coiling.
 More skilled-labors will be inside and outside the manholes between MH17 and
UD 2.4 – PACKAGE 1 LSA, JORDAN

MH17B to monitor and control the pulling process.


 Verify with all staff understanding the pulling method and the communication in
between.
 Ensure before start any cable pulling the cable have a Cap at the end, and before
termination as well.
 Set The Maximum allowable pulling tension on pulling device Tensiometer as
per the calculated value. For this stage is 1329 lbs.
 Start cable pulling gradually, after giving the start signal to all workers.
 When the cable reach to manhole MH17 side stop the pulling.
 On the cable drum side (MH-17B), start de-coil the cable on the ground (above
the cover sheet) with along radius-8 shape until reach to the cable end.

2- Second stage of pulling:


 Shift the cable pulling machine to T1-5 transformer foundation
 Bring the pulling rope of machine up to manhole MH17-B side using the
previously fixed rope.
 Connect the cable end to the pulling machine thru the pulling rope, and fix the
pulling grip to cable.
 Place skilled labors to facilitate the de-coiled cable near manhole MH-17 B to
avoid the cable damage
 Set The Maximum allowable pulling tension on pulling device Tensiometer as
per the calculated value. For this stage is 929 lbs.
 Start cable pulling gradually, after giving the start signal to all workers
 When the cable reach to T1-5 transformer foundation side stop the pulling.
