LETTER OF MOTIVATION

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is SAISURYA POTHUKANURI. I am 21 years old. I was born in Hyderabad,

India. Recently I have worked as an Intern in UniAir ENGINEERING SERVICES as a COMPRESSORS SERVICE
ENGINEER. I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering in the stream of Mechanical Engineering at
Methodist College of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad, affiliated to the Osmania University,
Hyderabad, Telangana State, India.

It took a bold achievement by KARL BENZ, in 1885 to give the first practical automobile to drive. It
took a dream by few thoughtful human beings to let human race take the first step on the moon,
ability to create, to think beyond facts, the gift to dream is what set us apart in evolution hierarchy.
The history is replete with events where a big dream changed the way coming generations to live for
the next centuries. I am a dreamer and I believe in seeing dreams far from the existing reality and then
pursuing them with all my strength and will to realize them.

Ever since I remember from my childhood, I was really fascinated by the way how things work, from my
childhood I do remember spending most of my time watching Turbo channel where they show all the
cool stuff like how things actually work in the world around us and that was my first impression and
motivation towards choosing this Technical education as my career, Following this passion I have
thought Mechanical Engineering would be a perfect fit for me and my career because as I used to
participate practically in machine servicing, and bike servicing. For the past seven years, I have
maintained a consistent aim in my academic career. Beginning with my time in high school, I have
immersed myself in the pursuit of increasing proficiency and communication skills in English, and hard
working on maths made a strong basement in areas like Trigonometry, as well as Calculus and
computer courses. I found that my greatest strengths and enjoyment are in Machine Designs and
Automobile Technology, Differential and Integral Calculus. My Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
introduced me to the basics and my Bachelor's brought focus to my major interest in the manufacturing
of automobiles and machines too. At the same time, I was introduced to and have subsequently
become proficient in the use of many computer-aided engineering software like AutoCAD, Pro-E and
Basic knowledge of ANSYS.

In my fourth year first semester, as a part of academic curriculum and interest in Mechanical
Engineering made me choose real-world challenging problems that we face in real time and to solve it
and I choose a major problem in automobiles like pollution makes environmental changes. Design and
optimization of ECO-FRIENDLY BIKE for which we fabricated our model and tested practically by fixing
it in a pollution free vehicle for which we have received Best Project Award in that Year. The project
also brought an appreciation for our mentors and department for which we have secured 96% score on
my project.

In the final semester of my graduation, I worked on a computer-aided project in "Defence Research &
Development Laboratory", the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. During this project, we worked on a
"Co-ordinate Measuring Machine" which measures critical points of an object with an exact value with
the help of a program. I and my teammates have executed a few missiles and its components. Unlike
the normal trailer, the machine runs on rack-and-pinion mechanism with the help of a joystick to set
starting points of the machine to start the work and this could also work with a program in three
different axis which gives some great convenience while using in heavy components and complicated
components which cannot measure manually. Computer-aided program is a key feature to run the
machine, CAPPS-DMIS software is installed in a computer to run the program. The machine starts
working on a program and takes measurements of the component which is fixed on the bed, like
angles, lengths, thickness, errors and it is controlled by a computer. Due to this project, I am able to
gain more knowledge on modern machine technology which helps and pushes me to extend my
knowledge in this field.
Partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, I had been
trained in TOYOTA for Engine maintenance and servicing, it was my keen interest to work with
automobiles. Practical interest made me participate in a 2-day National level workshop on Non-
Destructive Testing and I also participated in National level Robotics Championship to get fundamental
experience on automation.

My experiences in three years degree of undergraduate course and a diploma in Mechanical Engineering
haven't only helped me in acquiring strong fundamentals in engineering but also pushed me forward to
learn and gain more knowledge and guided me to continue research related activities. I feel that I have
exhausted every avenue of promotion and challenge in my professional career with my current level of
education. The "University of Duisburg-Essen" stood out to me as I researched universities in Germany.
This will not only educate me in the optimizing of quality Master's in Mechanical Engineering,
manufacturing, design, simulation and assembly methods but also give me the valuable technical
knowledge and practical engineer skills which I will need in the future firm I intend to create and run.
The choice of a good university with a faculty dedicated to teaching and research and an atmosphere
conducive to learning thus becomes extremely necessary.

This will be my first time out of my country, and I have ever known, and trust that pursuing Mechanical
Engineering in the University of Duisburg will be a wonderful and relevant experience for me, not just
as a student but as an individual and burgeoning, passionate and ambitious engineer. I strongly believe
that graduate study at this University would be an important step towards realizing my career and
research goals. Working for the development of the modern industry is my dream and I would put my
best effort into it.

Given an opportunity, I shall strive to channel my unbridled efforts into more productive avenues.
