CONTENT STANDARD: demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sequences, polynomials and polynomial
equations.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: is able to formulate and solve problems involving sequences, polynomials and polynomial
equations in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.
I. OBJECTIVE/S
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
illustrates an arithmetic sequence
. Code: M10AL-Ib-1
III. PROCEDURE:
A. Activity
A.1. Pre - Activity
1. Prayer
2. Energizer
3. Motivation:
Have a contest on giving the next term of a sequence or set of numbers.
A.2. Activity Proper
1. Let students study the data below and let them answer the guide questions that follow.
Situation: You and your group conduct a study of the presence of coral reefs in the different barangays of
San Lorenzo. You measured an area of 1 square meter in an identified area in each barangay and you gathered
the following data:
Guide Questions:
a. Is there a pattern in the number of corals present? If there is, describe it.
b. How is each term (number of Corals) found?
c. What is the difference between any two consecutive terms?
2. Ask representative to present their responses to the class by writing it on the manila paper or cartolina.
B. Analysis
Process students’ responses by asking the following:
1. How was the activity?
2. What new thing did you learn from the activity?
3. What is an arithmetic sequence?
4. Can you cite other situations that illustrate arithmetic sequence?
C. Abstraction
1. Discuss what an arithmetic sequence is and give examples.
2. Ask students to give their own examples.
3. Lead students to summarize the lesson.
D. Application
a. In real life situations, can you observe arithmetic sequence? What are these?
b. Going back on the data collected in the previous activity about corals, what does the situation imply? What
can you do to help preserve our marine ecosystems?
IV. EVALUATION
a. Given the sequence below, generate what is the pattern or the nth term.
1. 3, 12, 21, __, __, __
2. 8, 3, -2, __, __
3. 5, 12, __, 26, __
4. 2, __, 20, 29, __
5. __, 4, 10, 16, __
b. Cite real life situations related to marine ecosystem that illustrate arithmetic sequence.
