Football is perhaps the most popular game in the world. It is also called saucer. Cricket is
expensive game but football is not expensive but is more exciting and interesting game.
Football is played between two teams in a big rectangular ground. The ground measurement
and location are given with labeling. There is goal post at both ends of the ground. In general
play, the goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with their hands or arms.
The field players typically use their feet to kick the ball into position. The team that scores the
most goals by the end of the match wins. If the score is tied at the end of the game, either a
draw is declared or the game goes into extra time or a penalty shootout.

The Laws of the Game were originally codified in England by the Football Association in 1863.
Association football is governed internationally by FIFA, which organizes the FIFA World Cup
every four years.

The international matches are of 90 minutes. This is divided into two halves. Players are
penalized for their offenses. A referee with two linesmen conducts the match.

For playing football good soccer skills and stamina are needed. It is very top class body
exercise for burning calories. It also strengthens body stamina for running and continuous
working. It keeps our body fit. It develops the team spirit , team work and strategies. Great
footballer like Pele and Maradona has made football more interesting.

There are 17 laws in the official Laws of the Game. The same laws are designed to apply to all
levels of football, although certain modifications for groups such as juniors, seniors, women
and people with physical disabilities are permitted. The laws are often framed in broad terms,
which allow flexibility in their application depending on the nature of the game. The Laws of
the Game are published by FIFA, but are maintained by the International Football Association
Board (IFAB), not FIFA itself.

In addition to the seventeen laws, numerous IFAB decisions and other directives contribute to
the regulation of football. The most complex of the laws is offside. A player in an offside
position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team,
he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play, and he is nearer to his opponents’
goal line than both the ball and the second-last member of the opposing team. A player is not
in an offside position if he is in his own half of the field of play
