RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT

One of the important values our parents taught us is respect. Respect for the people we
meet or encounter or to things we should give respect. We must not forget that event the
most minute, one deserves to be respected.

It is but a great challenge for all of us to be wise enough o weigh the consequences of
everything. It is through this where one could show and manifest his outlooks and
perceptions.

The world is composed of stories. I say so because in every corner comes a great story
regarding history, cultures, traditions, values, and beliefs. This story is composed of
words. Words that if never delivered and chosen could kill. Many of us are abusing the
freedom of speech, thus regarding the feelings of the receiver of the information.
Sometimes we are tactless that we commit the breach of confidentiality. Many use words
just to show they are powerful and brave. There are also instances that because of intense
emotions we are able to utter words which should not be uttered. If these words wouldn’t
be guarded, we could possibly act with it which is more dangerous. We won’t only hurt
people. In this case, we also disrespect them.

It is true that one can’t give the thing which he doesn’t have. One can’t pour perfume to
others if he doesn’t have a bit of it. One couldn’t respect others if he doesn’t have respect
even for himself.

“Kaninong anak iyan? Walang breeding ! Hindi maganda ang parental upbringing!” –
could be some of the impressions for a disrespectful person. So sad, people might think
that our parents never taught, guided and molded us properly. Well in fact, our parents
perform their tasks being our teachers and models.

Friends let us ponder to this adage:

Be careful with your thoughts, they may become your words.

Be careful with your words, they may become your actions.
Be careful with your actions, they may become your hobby.
Be careful with your hobby, it may become your personality.
Be careful with your personality, it may become your identity.
Be careful of your identity, it may become your destiny.

To respect is not all about our abilities, intelligence, professions, life’s quality and
standing but it must focus on being a rational human. We must be like bamboos, despite
they stand tall, they still bend.

The bottom line, do unto others what you want others do unto you. Learn how to respect
others so that they will respect you also. If you do something to others, it will surely
comeback hundred folds to you in God’s time.
