5.1 Straight sections Straight sections are 5945 mm long. A length of 6000 mm should be used for design
purposes. Shorter length sections are made using a straight cut. The green/yellow
protective earth (PE) conductor should be arranged to face the crane girder web.
The maximum permissible distance between brackets is 1000 mm, and 200 mm for
conductor connectors, isolating sections and end caps.
Two stop plates must be ordered for each conductor to secure against longitudinal
displacement.

Curved sections can be made in the factory or on site using a bending device. They
are supplied with 100 mm long straight ends for connection to the straight sections.
These straight ends must be removed if not required. The maximum permissible
distance between brackets is 500 mm, and 200 mm for conductor connectors,
isolating sections and end caps.

The following information is required for ordering curved sections:

Conductor type (e.g. DEL 6-25-PVC)
Curved section type (e.g. curve A)
Radius R in mm
Angle a in degrees

The average radius Rm or individual radii R1 – Rn must be specified for H curves

(horizontal).

The distance between the curved sections must be determined and the radii of the
individual curved sections specified when designing conductor arrangements with
individual suspensions.
Section rails cannot be used with curved sections.

1) Pin dia. 4 x 3 only for PE pantograph

2) Highly flexible connecting cable with double insulation must also be ordered (see section 15.4). The small-
est required conductor cross-section must be used to keep the reaction forces on the current collector
pantograph as low as possible.
3) Current collector pantographs with graphite sliding contacts for operation outdoors, near salt water
and chemicals. Use double current collector pantographs for operation near salt water and chemicals.
4) For 3 mm max. material thickness.
5) For operation under arduous conditions.
6) Not suitable for entry / transfer.

Note: The electrical safety of 4-pole installations and 6-pole suspensions, for example, can
be improved by leaving a section empty between the three phases (PH) if the protec-
tive earth conductor (PE) is arranged on the outside of the suspension bracket.
Unguided entry operations into these arrangements are not possible.
