Some states followed timelines in 2019 (State R1 – 25th Mar to 5th Apr), but many states didn’t. More than any other process, State Round 1
happening on time impacts seat movements the most. Also, it provides the state candidate an opportunity to choose the best option in Round 1

Note that July 2019 session seats will be added to the Jan 2020 session and hence expect equivalent shift (+ve) in Closing ranks
A “Private Medical College / Institute” is one which comes under the State University. The counseling for ALL SEATS of “Private institutes” is conducted
by the State Govt. In general a % of Private institute seats are surrendered to the State Govt as Govt quota and the rest are filled as Management Quota
(includes max 15% for NRI). In most states, at least a few seats under Management quota carry All India eligibility. (Ex. PSG Institute under Tamil Nadu
MGR University, a state govt University – 100% Seats filled by the State Government under 2 separate counselings, Govt Quota and Management Quota)
A “Deemed University” is one which is declared as “deemed-to-be-university” status by the Central Government. Allotment of ALL SEATS of Deemed
Universities are done through All India counseling conducted by MCC (Ex. Sri Ramachandra Med. College and Res. Inst., Chennai which declared a
Deemed University by Central Govt and 100% of seats are filled by MCC through All India counseling )
There may be rare cases of Deemed Univs. like Kasturba Manipal, Mangalore and a few others Deemed institutes in Karnataka sharing seats with the
State Govt Authority (Karnataka), while the rest are allotted through MCC based All India Counseling
