‘Appeal Letter”
To whom it May Concern:
Hi My Name is Yuri Maia . Im currently a Senior in Queens college where i major in psychology. I am a
few credits away before i graduate. It has been very difficulty paying for my education and taking care of My
Wife and New Born baby ,however with god by my side i am graduating this summer and i can continue my
life with my family. Now the reason for my appeal letter is this previous Semester Fall 2015 i was enrolled
in a Psychology Class (PSY107)With Dr.Daniel Saldana and i had circumstances that prevented me from
finishing of the class. Psychology 107 has been a class that has been hard for me to pass it. This past semester
though considering it would of been my last semester i was very excited about it and i was doing very well
in all my classes i knew once i pass PSY 107 i would be able to graduate and than move on to graduate
school. Life threw a curve ball at me because my wife gave birth ,and i began a full time job to be able to
support my family. With my New work schedule i was not able to invest all my time to all my classes resulting
in my failing back in PSY 107. I managed to do well the first half of the semester and i was passing but as
the class progressed things got a lot harder and math is a class that being present in class room is the only
effective way for me to pass , i managed to pass my other classes with all A’s and that is because those were
lectures classes that i could have studied on my own.
In addition to having support for my family ,I broke my hand and hurt my ankle in a car accident and things
got a lot worse from there because i had to go to physical Theraphy and still go to work , there was no way
for me to pass my math class. I tried though to continue this math class and not Let it just be , i started
communicating with my professor and i was in total correspondence with DR.Saldana and he was very
professional, he gave me extensions towards the end of the semester to complete the work ,and i was alright
with doing that and that was my plan he gave me an extension and everything was going to work things its
self out. I paid for a tutor to come to my house and prepare me for the finals and the materials i missed but
as it got closer to the final i realized it was nearly impossible for me to complete so i talked with an advisor
and the chair of the department of psychology and they advised me it would be best for me to Receive an
WU not only because that was the correct grade i should have received but because its in my best interest
opposed to INC .The chair head enrolled me in the summer session PSY 107 and that was the new plan ill
finish of this summer and than ill be ready to graduate. The reason i am writing this is i paid for all my classes
last semester including the math and now if i have to pay again for the summer its a lot of money that i cant
afford. i understand its my responsibility to pass all my classes and this is in no way an excuse but i had very
difficult circumstances in my life , its hard supporting my wife as she herself attends college and than take
care of my child , its hard dealing with this by myself. if i please have the assistance and getting reimbursed
for my math class from the previous semester or if i can get my summer tuition paid for that would be highly
appreciated i want to make my family proud and graduate as soon as possible and i know if i have this
assistance i know i am capable of graduating. Thank you for taking your time and please give me the
assistance i need
