(a) Straight line segments : (0, 0, 0) to (2, 0, 0) to (2, –1, 0) to (2, –1, 4).
(b) Straight line : x = –2y, z = 2x.
(c) Curve : x = –2y3, z = 4y2.
Problem# 2 Find the work done in moving a charge of 2C from point B(1, 0, 1) to point A(0.8,
0.6, 1) through the electric field E = yax + xay + 2az V/m along the following paths;
(a) Direct straight line path from B to A.
(b) Shorter arc of circle x2 + y2 = 1 located at z = 1.
Problem# 3 Show that the same amount of work is done in moving a –10C charge from origin
to point P(1, 2, 3) through the electric field E = 6x2yax + 2x3ay + 6zaz V/m along the following
paths;
(a) Straight line segments : (0, 0, 0) to (1, 0, 0) to (1, 2, 0) to (1, 2, 3).
(b) Straight line : y = 2x, z = 3x.
Problem# 4 Find the work done in moving a negative charge of 5µC from point A(2, 1, 1) to
point B(4, 3, 1) through the electric field E = 3x2yax + (2x – z)ayV/m along the straight lines x =
y + 1, z = 1.
Problem# 5 Find the work done in carrying the positive charge Q through the electric field of
infinite line charge located on the z-axis along the following paths;
(a) An arc from B(ρ = ρ1, φ = 10o, z) to A(ρ = ρ1, φ = 20o, z) on circular path of radius ρ1
centered at the line charge.
(b) A straight line path from B(x, y, z1) to A(x, y, z2) with x, y ≠ 0.
(c) A straight line path from B(ρ = a, φ, z) to A(ρ = b, φ, z) with b ˃ a.
(d) A straight line path from A(ρ = b, φ, z) to B(ρ = a, φ, z) with b ˃ a.
(e) Write the brief conclusion after comparison of the results obtained in parts (c) and (d).

(a) VPQ ,given P(–7, 2, 1) and Q(4, 1, 2).
(b) VP if V = 0 at Q.
(c) VP if V = 0 at M(2, 0, –1).
Problem# 7 Let E = 6x2ax + 6yay + 4az V/m; calculate
(a) VMN ,given M(2, 6, –1) and N(–3, –3, 2).
(b) VM if V = 0 at Q(4, –2, –35).
(c) VN if V = 2 volts at P(1, 2, –4).
Problem# 8 Consider the scenario presented in Problem# 5 and use the consequences
obtained in each case through (a) to (d) to find the potential difference VAB.
Problem# 9 A 15nC point charge is located at origin in free space. Calculate V P if point P is
located at (–2, 3, –1) and;
(a) V = 0 at infinity.
(b) V = 0 at (6, 5, 4).
(c) V = 5 volts at (2, 0, 4).
Problem# 10 A point charge of 1.6nC is located at origin in free space. Find the potential at
r = 0.7m if ;
(a) Zero reference is at r = 0.5m.
(b) V = 5 volts at r = 1m.
