CHAPTER - III: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

3.1 RESEARCH PROBLEM

Explain why you have selected research topic.
“Name of the topic”

3.2 RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

The research objectives of the proposed study are given below;

3.3 HYPOTHESIS DEVELOPMENT

3.4 RESEARCH DESIGN

This research discovered the ideas and insights. It was conducted by using
literature review and interview technique. It is descriptive in nature because the
researcher observes and then describes what was observed. It is also explanatory in
nature because it was studying a problem in order to explain the relationships among
variables. It was concerned with determining cause-and-effect relationships.
The research strategy refers to the research procedure used to answer research
questions and fulfill the purposes of the research. The choice of research strategy was
done according to research questions and objectives, the extent of existing knowledge,
the amount of time and other resources available. This research was conducted by
survey strategy because it allowed the researcher to collect a large amount of data
from a substantial population by interviewing face to face. This allowed the
researchers to clarify any questions on the spot and spur interest in participating in the
survey. The original data was typically quantitative and gathered by questionnaire and
interview to describe a population that is too large to observe directly.

3.5 DATA COLLECTION METHODS

In this study data was collected by using both primary and secondary sources.
3.5.1 Primary Data
To develop the quantitative & qualitative measurement primary data was
required. Primary data was collected from respondents by using well-structured &

pre-designed questionnaire and structured interview schedule. The questions
presented in exactly the same wording and in the same order to all respondents which
have provided data in the same form from all respondents. Questionnaire was pre-
tested in small population and necessary changes in confusing questions were made
according to requirement before its finalization.
Questionnaires were designed for respondents according to experimental
treatments. The questionnaire started with a brief introduction of the purpose of the
research along with the name, contact number and university of the researcher.
Confidentiality and anonymity were clarified.
3.5.2 Secondary Data
Secondary data was required for the conceptual understanding of the research.
Secondary data was collected from books, magazines, internet websites and
newspapers.

3.6 SAMPLE DESIGN

3.6.1 Sampling Technique
Non-probability sampling technique e.i. convenience sampling & judgment
sampling was used because this research is an opinion survey. The actual selection of
sample was left to the researcher’s own judgment. This type of sampling was very
easy, inexpensive and convenient to the researcher. The samples were act as a
representative of entire population.
3.6.2 Sampling Universe
The sampling universe of the proposed study was finite (limited) i.e.
customers of the East Nagpur.
3.6.3 Sampling Unit
The sampling unit of the study was customers of ……...
3.6.4 Sample Size
50 customers.

3.7 FINDING, DATA ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATIONS

This section discussed and summarized the findings and data analysis. Graphs
and charts were used to analyze the data.

3.8 CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION

This section discussed recommendations and conclusion of the thesis.

3.9 LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

 The accuracy of the analysis and conclusion drawn entirely depends upon the
reliability of the information provided by the customers.
 The survey has been conducted only on limited respondents.
 The accuracy of the findings of study depends upon the correctness of the
responses provided by the respondents.
 The conclusions may be applicable for limited area due to social differences.

3.10 ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR THIS STUDY

This section discusses several ethical issues addressed in this research. Ethical
issues protect the privacy, rights and freedom of individuals. Thus, consideration of
ethical issues is important to any research which involves human participants. This
study addressed three major ethical issues. The first issue was the confidentiality of
the information provided by the participants. To protect privacy, researcher had
strictly kept the information provided by participants secret. Thus, the entire
questionnaires in this survey were kept confidential and stored properly. Only the
researcher of the current study and his supervisor could access to the data.
The second issue was respondent’s consent to participate in the survey. Every
participant in this survey received an explanation of the purpose and anonymity of the
research. Moreover, all the participants gave their consent to participate in the study.
The third issue was the accuracy of findings, which relates to the researcher
responsibility that all data are presented accurately without any altering the findings.
